Even as U.S. naval blockade remains in place, Iran has defied it and claimed to have collected toll tax from ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. This comes even as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed total control of this strategic waterway. He also ordered U.S. Navy to shoot any boats planting mines in Hormuz.

'Cradle of civilisation'- Iran hits back at Trump over 'hellhole' remark on India and China

US-Iran War: President Trump Says No Deadline On Iran Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump shared a letter on birthright citizenship in a post on social media, Truth Social, arguing against the hiring practices in the tech sector in America. In the strongly worded letter, Trump stated that these immigrants are not loyal to America. He criticised that anyone born in the US gets citizenship, which is 'ludicrous'. “A baby here becomes an instant citizen, and then they bring the entire family in from China or India or some other hellhole on the planet. You don't have to go too far to see that. English is not spoken here anymore. That there's almost no loyalty to this country amongst the immigrant class coming in today, which was not always the case,” the letter stated.

The letter argued that groups such as the Irish, Italians, Polish, Lithuanians, Romanians and Russians successfully assimilated into American society, but claimed the traditional “melting pot” no longer functions as intended. It described birthright citizenship, the idea that anyone born in the US automatically becomes a citizen regardless of their parents’ background, as unreasonable. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was criticised, with the letter alleging it has “done more damage to this nation than all the mafia families put together”. It also accused immigrants of placing a strain on public services like healthcare, claiming taxpayers cover costs for undocumented individuals, and pointed to states such as California over alleged welfare misuse and cultural impacts. It focused on states like California and the alleged welfare frauds, along with the cultural and linguistic impact of immigration on their society. “Our nation is being overrun with Chinese coming here just to drop a baby on our shores to then bring in the entire family. How about some common sense in a bankrupt nation? ACLU Attorney Wang is pushing to destroy our national identity, turn us into a colony of China, but it's not limited to China; it's also India,” the letter added.

'Naughty and nice list': Trump targets NATO allies over Iran war support — Report

Tensions remain high in the Middle East as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard forces seized two vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire window for negotiations. Reports say three ships were targeted, with two taken toward Iranian waters, raising concerns over maritime security and global oil supply routes.

Even as U.S. President Donald Trump has described the Hormuz blockade as a 'tremendous success', the ground reality paints a different picture. As per cargo tracking group 'Vortexa', at least 34 tankers linked to Iran have bypassed the U.S. blockade since it began.

Tensions have escalated in the Strait of Hormuz after Iran’s IRGC reportedly attacked and seized multiple commercial vessels, including MSC Francesca and Epaminondas, while another ship, Euphoria, was struck and grounded near Iranian waters. The incident comes shortly after Trump declared that ceasefire with Iran has been extended. Repots are also emerging about the growing concern over American missile stockpile which have been strained due to the war in Iran.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that he is considering a financial request from the UAE. While speaking to the CNBC show Squawk Box, Trump said that “he found it shocking”, but the US might consider a financial bailout with the United Arab Emirates, or some sort of financial arrangement involving a currency swap line. He also added that they were hit “hardest” with around 1400 missiles. He said that Iran was the “bully” of the region that was threatening everyone and added that "it was shocking because we thought that they [Iran] would shoot missiles at Israel but not every other country in the area.”Trump, further responding to the query from the anchor that the UAE is traditionally considered to be rich, said, “Yeah, I mean, I am surprised because they are really rich.” But he said that it is under consideration, he added that US allies in the Gulf are “much better allies than NATO”. Trump said that “the UAE got hit with 1,400 missiles,” and added “fortunately they had great defence, and were able to shoot down most of them, but they did get hit hard. The report highlighted that the Emirati official suggested that they might be compelled to conduct oil sales and other transactions in Chinese yuan if not provided a dollar lifeline. The officials described that the request was "preliminary and precautionary," however, it is typical for the Federal Reserve to push back against any currency swap, unless there were chances of spillover to affect the US economy. This development is significant as it is a reversal of the script when the White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters President Donald Trump was "quite interested" in a plan of demanding payments from the Gulf to fund the war. US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (Apr 21) participated in a week-long national Bible-reading event, delivering a pre-recorded reading from the Oval Office.
