Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden met with the family of Jacob Blake, the Black man whose shooting by police in Wisconsin in August sparked a new surge of civil unrest around the United States, on Thursday.

The private meeting, which took place in a building at the Milwaukee airport, came at the start of a trip by Biden to the state. Biden and his wife Jill met with four members of Blake's family, including his father, Jacob Blake, Sr., the Biden campaign said.

He landed in Kenosha just 72 hours after Trump travelled to the same city and did the stark opposite thing.

Biden did not mince words in slamming rioters who had masqueraded as protesters.

"But none of it justifies looting, burning or anything else. So, regardless how angry you are, if you loot or you burn, you should be held accountable as someone who does anything else, period. It just cannot be tolerated, across the board," he said.

On the contrary, the incumbent US president, Donald Trump, found himself in another soup when he asked voters to vote not once but twice -- once by mail, and once in person.

After placing a notice on the tweets, Twitter issued a statement defending its actions that read, "We placed a public interest notice on two Tweets in this thread for violating our Civic Integrity Policy, specifically for encouraging people to potentially vote twice."

However,&nbsp;White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany was quick to dismiss the fact that Trump had just asked his supporters to take part in an illegal activity. McEnany said that Trump&nbsp;"does not condone unlawful voting."

Trump's critics believe that this was yet another try by Trump to decrease the rising popularity of the mail-in voting system that majority of the US states are planning to opt for the upcoming elections, due to the pandemic.

The US Labour Department is also slated to release its monthly jobs report, a key indicator of economic health that will provide some insight into the state of the country’s recovery from the downturn sparked by COVID-19.

Trump has seized upon the monthly reports as evidence that the recovery has been a dramatic one. Biden will deliver remarks from his home base of Wilmington, Delaware, after his busiest campaign week in months. Trump has no public events planned.

While the Labor Day holiday typically marks the beginning of a more intense phase of the White House race, both Biden and Trump got a head start in the past week with a flurry of activity following their back-to-back party conventions.

Police officials providing him medical treatment are the same ones who shot him trying to save his life. These images went viral and by evening a mob descended on the streets.

It started burning things down including vehicles, shops and homes.

The arsonists defied dusk-to-dawn curfews. They tossed Molotov cocktails and bricks at the cops. The police responded with tear-gas and pepper sprays. This went on for three days.&nbsp;

On August 27, armed-militias were out. Self-styled vigilantes patrolling the streets with rifles. They clashed with the protesters. Among these vigilantes --- was a 17-year-old boy and his name is Kyle Rittenhouse.

He is emerging as a hero for some in America because of this 17-year old shot dead two anti-racism protesters.

He came prepared for the worst. He was armed with an Ar-15 style rifle. He was being chased and kicked by protesters and in his defence --- this boy ---- decided to pull the trigger. It made the situation more chaotic.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Protesters on both sides burned entire buildings to the ground. Smoke billowing from buildings as far as the eye can see. This is the aftermath of a week of arson in Kenosha. These buildings belong to both black and white Americans.

But their identities don't matter anymore and this is not limited to Kenosha anymore. This fire is spreading across America.

In Denver, armed protesters are rallying on the streets. In Los Angeles, huge crowds are gathering every night -- in complete defiance of social distancing. In Portland too, the crowds are swelling --- the violence hasn't died down.

In Washington D.C., the protests have turned entirely political. &nbsp;Leading them are the democrats, inciting sentiments, and fueling the unrest.

According to her, "march in the name of our children". This is the same political party that is conducting its election campaign digitally. The Democrats are addressing the people from the safety of their homes. But they want the protesters to keep marching on and then we have the US President.

A U.S. appeals court on Tuesday granted President Donald Trump's request to delay Manhattan's district attorney from accessing his tax returns in connection with a criminal probe of his business practices.

The unsigned order by a panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan was a victory for the president in his yearlong quest to block District Attorney Cyrus Vance from enforcing a grand jury subpoena for eight years of personal and corporate returns.

Trump has been challenging an Aug. 20 decision by U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero to let Vance obtain the returns from the president's longtime accounting firm Mazars USA.

The district attorney had wanted access to the returns even during Trump's appeal, but Tuesday's order ends that possibility for now. Oral arguments have been scheduled for Sept. 25.

A spokesman for Vance declined to comment.

Jay Sekulow, one of Trump's lawyers, said they were pleased with the order and looked forward to arguing the merits of the president's appeal.

Vance began his probe after news that Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen paid pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet before the 2016 election about claimed sexual encounters with Trump, which the president has denied.

In July, the Supreme Court refused to block the subpoena, rejecting Trump's claim of absolute immunity from criminal probes while in the White House, but said Trump could raise other objections.

Trump is seeking re-election on Nov. 3. Vance has complained that dragging out the litigation has effectively given the Republican president the immunity he wanted.

Grand jury proceedings are held in secret, and if Trump's tax returns were handed over it could take months for the public to learn their contents.

But a new poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos has found that majority of Americans do not perceive crime as the primary problem and are actually sympathetic towards the ongoing protests against systemic racism.

The poll found that 78 per cent Americans are “very” or “somewhat” concerned about the virus. Almost 60 per cent respondents said that Trump was partly responsible for the spread of the virus, along with the business closures that came with it.&nbsp;

Over 6 million Americans have been infected with the virus, a figure higher than elsewhere in the world.

Majority of the Americans do not perceive crime as their primary concern and do not see it increasing in their communities, according to the poll.

Only 8 per cent American adults listed crime as the primary concern for the country, while 30 per cent said it was the economy or jobs, while 16 per cent said it was the healthcare system.

62 per cent voters, including 62 per cent Democrats and 65 per cent Republicans said that crime was not increasing in their communities.

Additionally, 53 per cent respondents claimed they were sympathetic to the protesters, up by 1 per cent from July.

Protests have erupted in various parts after police shot down a black man in Wisconsin.&nbsp;

“No one will be safe in Biden’s America,” Trump said last week at the Republican national convention, while accusing Biden of attempting to defund the police.

A roundtable event was held in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Tuesday to discuss about the police violence that has led to deaths of several unarmed African-American people in the US.

However, the only African-Americans present in the room were also not given enough chances to speak their minds, courtesy the US President Donald Trump.

The roundtable was organised for a discussion on public safety, and the two African-American pastors were the only ones from the community&nbsp;seated at the dais. the two pastors,&nbsp;James Ward and Sharon Ward, were there to represent&nbsp;Julia Jackson, the mother of Jacob Blake — the Black man who was shot&nbsp;seven times in the back by a Kenosha police officer.

The pastors were asked by reporters if they believed that police violence was systemic. When the question was clearly directed towards the Wards, Trump waste no second in answering for them, without any intimation, and said, "I don't believe that. I think the police do an incredible job and I think you do have some bad apples."

"You do have the other situation, too, where they're under tremendous pressure and they don't handle it well. They call it choking and it happens," he added.

During the discussion, he also stated that he has had several interactions with the US police and those interactions were enough evidence for him to understand that the US police was not unjustly violent towards the African-American community, and that the police violence was not a systematic issue.&nbsp;

Trump travelled to Kenosha, Wisconsin without paying heed to several Democratic leaders who had urged the President not to visit the city while the city was observing protests after an African-American man Jacob Blake was shot seven times at point blank range in the back by the local police.

According to press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, "currently the plans are to meet with local law enforcement and some business owners and he'll survey the damage."

However, the President completely ignored the grieving family and did not pay the family a visit. McEnany, on being questioned about this, said, "The president wants to visit hurting Americans."

The President was repeatedly urged by the Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Mayor John Antaramian to not visit Kenosha, but the President decided to ignore the requests.

"No, because that -- Kenosha is something we did a good job on," Trump said when asked if he even considered the requests. "But I have to see the people that did such a good job for me and we are meeting with numerous people and we have tremendous support in the state of Wisconsin so I promise them when it all gets taken care of, we'll go."

The reason the visit was being objected to was that the local leaders and authorities felt his presence in the city could fuel violence and increase the tensions in the already-burning city. However, Trump said,&nbsp;"It will also increase enthusiasm and it could increase love and respect for our country, and that's why I am going because they did a fantastic job."

Tony Evers, however, said Trump's visit will redirect the resources "at a time when it is critical that we continue to remain focused on keeping the people of Kenosha safe and supporting the community's response."

"I am&nbsp;concerned your presence will only hinder our healing," he continued.

When asked why Trump has not reached out to the Blake family yet, Trump claimed that the family wanted lawyers to be present and he felt that was "inappropriate".

I thought it would be better not to do anything where there are lawyers involved. They wanted to have lawyers involved and I thought that was inappropriate so I didn't do that, but I did speak with the pastor -- was a fine man, wonderful man -- and I think we had a great talk, and I may at some point do that, but they did have a lawyer that wanted to be on the phone and I said no, that's inappropriate but I gave my best regards," Trump said.

Family's lawyer, Benjamin Crump, on this claim said,&nbsp;"When President Obama called Trayvon and Michael Brown's family, when Vice President Biden called George Floyd's family, their attorneys were present. We don't understand why it would be an issue with Trump's administration, and furthermore last time I checked they had a DOJ investigation that had been started in this matter, so it would be totally appropriate for family to have counsel on the phone," Crump said.

"They (White House) have their attorneys. Why shouldn't the family have their attorneys?" he continued.

Blake's family, too, has taken a step back and expressed their views on Trump not visiting the family.&nbsp;"Our family don't particularly want to have anything to do with him," Justin Blake, victim's uncle said. "We believe he incited this violence."

During a media briefing, he also defended the actions of a 17-year-old boy who had opened fire during the protests.&nbsp;“He was trying to get away from them ... And then he fell and then they very violently attacked him,” Trump said at a briefing. “I guess he was in very big trouble ... He probably would have been killed.”

On the third night of protests, Kyle Rittenhouse,&nbsp;shot three protesters, two fatally, with an assault rifle.&nbsp;He has been charged as an adult, although he is 17-year-old, with two counts of first-degree homicide and one count of attempted homicide.

“In America, we will never surrender to mob rule, because if the mob rules, democracy is indeed dead,” Trump added.

Violence and protests have been a regular feature in Portland ever since Black Lives Matter -- in support of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed due to the brutality of police on May 25.

On Sunday, one man -- identified as a supporter of a right-wing group -- was shot and killed in Portland when a large caravan of Trump's supporters and Black Lives Matter protesters clashed in the city's streets.
