A woman suspected of sending a letter containing the poison ricin to US President Donald Trump has been arrested, a US law enforcement official said.

According to a CNN report, she was taken into custody when she tried to enter the US from Canada at a border crossing in New York state. She was then carrying a gun.

Law enforcement officials had intercepted a ricin package sent to Trump last week, and investigators were looking into the possibility that it came from Canada.

As per the new deal, ByteDance will be setting up a new portion called TikTok Global in which the US shareholders are expected to control 53 per cent of the shares, and the Chinese investors will hold 36 per cent. While it is not yet finalised which company will be the majority share holder, Oracle is rumoured to hold 12.5 per cent of the TikTok Global shares.

Trump has claimed that the new company will be based in Texas and hire nearly 25,000 people. He has also reportedly claimed that the new company will be contributing nearly $5 billion to a fund dedicated to education for Americans.

The US Commerce Department announced a ban on Friday blocking people in the United States from downloading Chinese-owned messaging app WeChat and TikTok starting September 20.

A Bloomberg&nbsp;report cited the complaint as saying that Trump exceeded his authority when he banned the app, and that he did so for political reasons rather than to stop an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to the US, as the law requires.
