<p>A dog, while digging in the backyard of her owner to find a bone, ended up discovering something rather unexpected.</p>

<p>Homeowner Mathew Sims said that his pup, named Baby, was playing in the backyard of the house in Jacksonville, Florida when the rusted object was dug up by her near the fence line, said the police.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking to FOX 30, Sims said, "You couldn’t tell what it was until you started pulling it up. Once I got it halfway out, I was like oh, I know what this is, let me gently put this back down."</p>

<p>The metallic item discovered was actually an unexploded military bomb, which was decades old.</p>

<p>"OK is this live?" Sims remembered the first thoughts when he picked up the bomb with his bare hands last Wednesday (Mar 20). "You panic, then you drop," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The weapon was carefully laid back by Sims at the place where his dog discovered it and he then called the authorities. He added that the bomb weighed nearly 10 pounds and was around a foot long.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per a police report, the amount of decay present on the weapon hinted that the bomb had been underground for years.</p>

<h2><strong>Bomb squad confiscates the bomb&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>A bomb squad reached his&nbsp;home, which was located on 15th Street E, and the neighbourhood was evacuated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sims said that it was a matter of relief that the bomb was discovered by the dog and was removed from his house. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, his neighbour Carla Smith said that she was not worried about the strange discovery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, an unexploded hand grenade was discovered by a nine-year-old boy in his garden in Yarcombe, East Devon, England.&nbsp;The grenade was removed by the police and detonated in a close field.</p>

<p>It is rightly said that dogs are man's best friend. A canine companion has once again proven this by his unmatched loyalty. In India's Himachal Pradesh, a dog stood and guarded his master's body from wild animals amid snow for 48 hours.</p>

<p>The incident is from Bir-Billing, where Alpha, a German Shepherd stood guard over his human Abhinandan Gupta and his friend Parnita Bal Sahib's bodies at the daunting height of 9,000 feet.</p>

<h2><strong>What happened?</strong></h2>

<p>Pune residents Gupta and his friend Sahib, as per a Tribune India report had gone to the popular tourist destination Billing on Sunday (Feb 4th) afternoon by a private car. While returning to their base camp at Chogan near Bir, the friends due to heavy snow left their car midway and started making their way on foot along with the dog, Alpha.</p>

<p>But the&nbsp;duo reportedly&nbsp;slipped due to the snow and fell into a deep gorge. Footprints at the scene of the incident suggests that they tried to climb out of the gorge, but failed. They died there, probably due to the acute cold and injuries.</p>

<p>A rescue team comprising paragliders and the police found their bodies with Alpha keeping guard over them. While they had signs of attack by wild animals, the dog kept their bodies from being taken away&nbsp; by wild animals like black bear and leopards.</p>

<p>He was found wailing next to them. An official said that "Alpha's continuous wailing reflected his desperation and grief as if he was hoping that the team would save his master. Alpha too had sustained injuries, but he survived and continued to guard the bodies for 48 hours till Tuesday when rescue team reached on the spot."</p>

<h2><strong>How the bodies were recovered</strong></h2>

<p>As per the report, Abhinandan Gupta's brother-in-law reported that the friends were missing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The duo was missing since Sunday, and their phones were switched off. After a frantic search of around two days they were found lying dead deep in the forest with Alpha by their side.</p>

<p>"They were last spotted on a ridge by some other tourists. So, two teams were sent on either side of the hill. Finally, their bodies were found with the German shepherd sitting guard for the last 48 hours," said an official with the rescue team.</p>

<p>Alpha the dog was also injured. He allowed the rescue team to recover the body and accompanied them to Bir.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking at the meeting, Agriculture Minister Chung Hwang-keun said that the government will quickly implement a ban and extend the maximum possible support to those people in the dog meat industry for closing down their businesses.<br />

"With so many dogs needlessly suffering for a meat that hardly anyone eats, the government’s bill delivers a bold plan that must now urgently be passed by the Assembly so that a legislative ban can be agreed as soon as possible to help South Korea close this miserable chapter in our history and embrace a dog-friendly future," stated JungAh Chae, executive director of Humane Society International, in a statement after the meeting.<br />

<p>The pathologist at the St. Louis Zoo found that Rani had preexisting heart problems. However, the zoo is still examining what contributed to her death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The officials believe that the immediate cause of death might be related to a small dog running around in a non-public area near the elephant barn.</p>

<p>Rani was indoors having dinner and did not see the dog. But another elephant that saw the dog became agitated.</p>

<p>The Elephant Care Team members tried to catch the dog while moving the other elephants indoors. However, Rani became distressed inside the barn. She began to vocalise with the other elephants before collapsing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The officials tried to revive her but failed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After Rani passed, the Elephant Care Team spent time with her to say goodbye. Other elephants were also given time with her. The zoo officials said they calmed down quickly and are doing well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Later, the zoo officials caught the small dog and turned it into a local shelter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rani was five when she and her mother, Ellie, came to the St. Louis Zoo in 2001. Eight Asian elephants remain at the St. Louis Zoo, including six from three generations of the same family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Rani was a special member of this elephant family group," Katie Pilgram-Kloppe, zoological manager of the River's Edge habitat at the zoo, said in a statement. "While growing up here in St. Louis, she learned from her mom, Ellie, how to be an amazing mother herself," Pilgram-Kloppe said.</p>

<p>There are less than 50,000 Asian elephants left in the wild, scattered in discrete habitats across 13 countries. Their future survival as a species is uncertain, with threats from poachers killing them for ivory, skin, and meat. Furthermore, the humans continue to intrude into the space where they roam.</p>

<p>According to the St. Louis Zoo, their breeding programme is helping preserve the species. Recently, three elephants, Maliha, Jade and Priya, were born there. Under human care, the median life expectancy of a female Asian elephant is 47 years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to reports, the video dates back to the start of the surprise assault launched on early Saturday morning when&nbsp;the country&nbsp;first came under attack. The initial casualty&nbsp;was reported from a music festival in the desert near the Gaza-Israel border.</p>

<p>More than 260 bodies were recovered from the festival site and was described as the worst massacre in Israel’s history.</p>

<p>More than 1,500 people have been killed since then, leading Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to declare "we are at war."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Israel is at war...Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they have made a mistake," Netanyahu said.</p>

<p><strong>Israel’s warning to Gaza</strong></p>

<p>Meanwhile, Israel’s military has warned that it considers Gaza's parliament and civilian ministries as legitimate targets in its war against the Hamas terror group.</p>

<p>Responding to the media, spokesperson Richard Hecht said, “If there’s a gunman firing rockets from there, it turns into a military target."</p>

<p>He also said that they won’t warn the targets before firing the missiles, adding that Israel’s air force is stretched thin.</p>

<p>Hecht further said that the military has found around 1,500 bodies of Hamas militants in Israeli territory as it said it had largely gained control in the country’s south and “restored full control” over the border on the fourth day of fighting following an unprecedented surprise attack.</p>

<p>Hecht also did not rule out the possibility of more infiltrations in the country.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">In a rare grizzly bear attack, two people and their dog lost their lives in Banff National Park, Canada and the park rangers later killed the bear.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">&nbsp; </span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The couple was not identified yet but “loved the outdoors and were inseparable”, said a family member, in a statement.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">“They lived for being in the backcountry and were two of the most cautious people I know. They knew the bear protocol and followed it to a tee,” they added.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">As per the family member of one of the deceased, the couple was visiting the national park regularly while in the backcountry. They also went to the national park on Friday at 5 p.m. when a notification was sent to them that they had reached the camp safely.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The camp was located in the Red Deer River Valley, which has rugged terrain west of Ya Ha Tinda Ranch and an area of steep cliffs.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Throughout the night, the team travelled by foot and reached the remote campsite around 1 am Saturday morning, where they discovered the dead body of the couple and their dog, who had lost their lives in the encounter with a grizzly bear.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The bear was reported to be demonstrating “aggressive behaviour” and Parks Canada killed it “to ensure public safety”. Hours later, the RCMP arrived to transport the victims to Sundre, which is a town nearly 50 miles east of the place where the attack took place.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">“This is a tragic incident, and Parks Canada wishes to express its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” said the agency, in a statement.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The fatalities were the first to be reported in half a century within Banff National Park’s border, although a spate of attacks was experienced by the region in the summer of 1980 by the “Black Grizzly of Whiskey Creek” – one of which turned fatal.</p>

The bear was reported to be demonstrating “aggressive behaviour” and Parks Canada killed it “to ensure public safety”. Hours later, the RCMP arrived to transport the victims to Sundre, which is a town nearly 50 miles east of the place where the attack took place. “This is a tragic incident, and Parks Canada wishes to express its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” said the agency, in a statement. The fatalities were the first to be reported in half a century within Banff National Park’s border, although a spate of attacks was experienced by the region in the summer of 1980 by the “Black Grizzly of Whiskey Creek” – one of which turned fatal.
