Authorities also arrested Hampton and several other Panthers in an effort to publicly discredit the group.

Given the choice between facing felony charges or agreeing to infiltrate the Panthers, he opted for the latter: as a security captain in the Illinois Black Panther Party, he infiltrated Hampton’s inner circle.

In 1969, O’Neal sketched a floor plan of Hampton’s West Side apartment, including where everyone slept, which the FBI then shared with the Chicago Police Department, the agency that conducted the fatal raid. The research noted that Black, Hispanic, and female police officers in Chicago made fewer stops and arrests as compared to their white male counterparts, particularly for petty crimes, reports Sciencemag.&nbsp;

"A lot of other studies out there have tried to use officer race as a benchmark test for discrimination … (but this one) got much more precise estimates of what the police workplace actually looks like," said Jeffrey Fagan, a professor of law at Columbia University.&nbsp;

The data found that on average Black officers in Chicago made 29 per cent fewer stops and 21 per cent fewer arrests than their white counterparts. The Black cops also use 32 per cent force less frequently.&nbsp;

CBP said that as a general rule the Food and Drug Administration does not allow the importation of prescription drugs that were purchased outside the US.

After three months of successful hiding, Singh was caught in the act when two employees of the United Airlines approached and questioned him, demanding his identity card. Singh, slyly, showcased the&nbsp;airport ID badge that he was wearing. This badge was later identified to be of an&nbsp;operations manager, who had reported it to be missing on October 26.

The United Airlines employees, on identifying the incident, informed the police, who then took him into custody within hours from the&nbsp;Terminal 2 near Gate F12 of the airport.

With a master's degree in hospitality, Singh has a clear record and has had no reported criminal incidents, according to the&nbsp;Assistant Public Defender Courtney Smallwood. He has been reported to be unemployed and a current residence of&nbsp;Los Angeles suburb of Orange.

Singh has been asked to pay&nbsp;$1,000 as a release fees and has been put under a permanent 'no entry' list from this airport.

"The court finds these facts and circumstances quite shocking for the alleged period of time that this occurred," Judge Oritz said. "Being in a secured part of the airport under a fake ID badge allegedly, based upon the need for airports to be absolutely secure so that people feel safe to travel, I do find those alleged actions do make him a danger to the community."

An African American woman who was injured by the local police has vowed to avenge the police brutality by challenging the involved officials after the shooting that resulted in the death of her boyfriend.

"I lost the love of my life and the father of my seven-month-old child" when an officer opened fire "while we had our hands raised in the air," said Tafara Williams.

The 20-yer-old was in her car with her 19-year-old boyfriend in the passenger seat when a police officer opened fire at their vehicle, injuring Williams and killing her boyfriend&nbsp;Marcellis Stinnette. The incident took place in Waukegan, a suburb north of Chicago on October 20.

The concerned officer in question is Hispanic and has not been named yet. He has been fired from his station since the incident was reported.&nbsp;

The police department claims that the police officer was trying to investigate a "suspicious vehicle" calmly but the couple fled. However, a second officer intervened&nbsp;when the couple fled, and upon seeing the second officer the car allegedly backed towards him and thus the officer opened fire.

Williams, however, claims that she was smoking a cigarette in the car with her boyfriend with their car parked outside of their home, and claims she left quickly.&nbsp;"I drove off very slowly... The officer was not following me," she said. When she turned the corner, Williams was met with ä crash".

"I lost control, the officer was shooting at us... I kept shouting, I don't have a gun," she said.

She also claimed that she kept asking why was the officer shooting but received no answer, and she was unable to move due to her injuries.&nbsp;"When you're dealing with African Americans, it's almost as if you shoot first ask questions later," said Ben Crump, who is representing Williams.

The police department has said they will soon be releasing video footage of the whole incident.

The exam was administered online in view of the pandemic and the candidates had to sit in front of the computer with the camera on to ensure there is no cheating.&nbsp;

"I had already asked for an accommodation to get up and go to the bathroom because I was 38 weeks pregnant and they said I'd get flagged for cheating. I couldn't leave the view of the camera," she added.&nbsp;

Hill continued writing the exam until the first part was finished.&nbsp;

"I took my break, got myself cleaned up, called my husband, midwife, and mom, cried because I was a little panicked, then sat down to take the second part because my midwife told me I had time before I needed to go to the hospital," she added.

She went to the hospital at around 5:30 pm and the baby boy was born just after 10 pm.&nbsp;

However, she still needed to finish off part two of the Bar exam, so the hospital staff arranged a private room for her and put a "do not disturb" sign outside the door.&nbsp;

"I took the rest of the test in there and was even able to nurse the baby in between sessions! Obviously, I really hope I passed but I'm mostly just proud that I pushed through and finished," Hill said.&nbsp;

Hundreds of people swept through the Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown Chicago early on Monday, smashing windows, looting stores, clashing with police and at one point exchanging gunfire with officers, local media reported quoting authorities.&nbsp;

Videos being circulated on micro-blogging site, Twitter showed the ransacked stores, broken windows and people looting the stores with an armful of merchandise.&nbsp;

The looting began shortly after midnight with protesters seen darting through the broken store windows and doors along Michigan Avenue.&nbsp;

Chicago and many other US&nbsp;cities had witneseed&nbsp;widespread looting in May and June in the wake of the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd.

The authorities have not confirmed on what triggered the violence and vandalism on Monday.

Though, a video doing rounds on Twitter is being said as the reason for the protests to have turned violent. It is the video&nbsp;posted on Twitter with hashtag #FREETIANNA by @SarahBaska. The caption read, "she should not be facing 15 years in prison for organising a protest. Reply to this tweet with #FREETIANNA". The video shows a girl handcuffed and taken away by police.&nbsp;

Fourteen people were injured after gunfire erupted outside a funeral home on Chicago’s South Side, police officials said Tuesday.

One person was in custody and additional suspects were being sought after the operation was done with.

Mourners outside a funeral home were fired upon from a passing SUV, police said, and several targets of the shooting returned fire. The SUV later crashed and the occupants fled in several directions. One person of interest has been taken into custody.

All the victims were adults, and were taken by the Chicago Fire Department to nearby hospitals in serious condition.

At least 60 shell casings were found at the scene of the shooting. It wasn’t immediately known if anyone other than attendees of the funeral were victims, nor if anyone in the SUV had been wounded.

The shooting comes as the Department of Homeland Security is planning to deploy dozens of federal agents to Chicago to deal with an uptick in violent crime in the city.

The Trump administration had earlier sent federal officers to Portland, Oregon, after weeks of protests there over police brutality and racial injustice that followed the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Trump has framed such protests in the nation’s large cities as a failure by “liberal Democrats” who run them, praised the officers’ actions and said he was looking to send agents to other cities.

More than 32,500 teachers and other staff walked off the job Thursday in Chicago, cancelling classes for 300,000 students in nation's third-largest school district.

At the heart of the dispute is class sizes and resources rather than pay, with teachers saying they want more social workers, nurses and librarians for their students.

And they want a three-year contract instead of being locked into the current offer of a five-year deal.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she was disappointed the Chicago Teachers Union walked out despite the city's offer of what she called a "historic package."

The union had already spent a month negotiating with the mayor's team without an agreement, leading to the first teachers strike in the city since 2012.

One teacher on the South Side said having a nurse at school only one day a week was dangerous.
