The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared Class 10 examinations result on Tuesday four hours ahead of its scheduled time.

The result was earlier scheduled to be declared at 4 pm but however, CBSE announced it around 1:20 pm.

Students can access their&nbsp;statement of marks by entering their exam details -- roll number and date of birth --&nbsp;at CBSE.nic.in.

The board exams were marred by controversy this year with question paper leaks being reported from Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Jharkhand of Class 10 mathematics paper, but the HRD ministry had decided against conducting a re-examination in the "interest of students".

This was the first batch to appear for the Class 10 board examinations after the CBSE decided to junk the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) and reintroduce the board exams. 
Over 16 lakh students appeared for Class 10 exams this year.

JEE Main Results 2018 declared by CBSE at cbseresults.nic.in, jeemain.nic.in

The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct a re-test of its Class 12 economics paper today, nearly a month after it was leaked triggering widespread outrage and confusion among students across India.

After reports of the leak surfaced on March 28, the CBSE announced it will re-conduct the examination on April 25.

Then, there were also reports of the CBSE's Class 10 mathematics paper being leaked, but the board decided against a re-test of the Class 10 paper, saying the examination was "largely an internal segment" of the school education system.

"The candidates will appear (for the exam) from the same allotted centres using the same admit card," a board official said Tuesday.

For conducting the re-test of the economics paper, the board had said "Class 12 exams are a gateway to higher education and various professional competitive exams which have limited seats... Therefore, giving undue advantage to a handful of beneficiaries of the alleged leak of the economics paper would not be in larger interest of the students."

Earlier this month, the CBSE had said it found no impact of the Class 10 mathematics paper leak after an assessment.

The reports of leak of the CBSE papers had caused disappointment among students across the country last month.

In Delhi, students held protests, accusing the CBSE of negligence and demanded immediate action against the guilty.

Investigators made arrests in several parts of the country in connection with the case, including in Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.

They claimed to have arrested the main conspirators behind the leak from Una town in Himachal Pradesh. The three people were staffers at a school in the town.

The Class 12 economics paper was leaked on March 23 - three days before the scheduled date, according to Delhi Police.

The leak was exposed after an envelop containing four images of the hand-written economics paper was delivered to the CBSE Headquarters in Delhi on the evening of the scheduled date of examination - March 26.&nbsp;

Following the leak reports, on April 2 CBSE tried a "leak-proof" system of "encrypted" question papers, which delayed the exam as a few centres in Delhi were unable to follow the printing of encrypted papers, e-mailed to them, at the school itself.

The HRD ministry then set up a committee to examine the process by which the CBSE conducts examinations. The seven-member panel, headed by former HRD secretary Vinay Sheel Oberoi, will suggest measures to make the process "secure and fool-proof" using technology.

The committee has to submit its report by May 31 to the Human Resource Development Ministry.&nbsp;

The seven-member committee will have Retired Secretary (Higher education) of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Vinay Sheel Oberoi as its chairperson.

The prime objectives of the committee would to revisit and closely examine all aspects whether it is related to security checks built into the system, to ensure that, question papers reach&nbsp;the examinees from printing presses without any tempering.&nbsp;

It will also assess the weak areas in the present system of transporting question papers and to find loopholes in the process.

Reports say that the committee is planning to increase the use technology to minimize the human intervention after the evaluation of entire process ends.

Earlier this week Delhi Police's crime Branch questioned the principal of a school whose two teachers were arrested for their alleged role in the leak.

However, the officials later informed that they did find anything that could indicate his involvement in the leak.

The Delhi police are trying to find the link to the module in which handwritten papers were circulated before the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics exam.

According to reports so far 150 people have been questioned including both teachers and students.&nbsp;

However, the trace has still not been found.

The Delhi Police has lodged two cases over the leaks of the CBSE question papers.

The first case related to the leak of economics question paper was lodged on March 27, while the other pertaining to the leak of mathematics paper was lodged on March 28, following a complaint by the CBSE's regional director.

The examinations for the class 12 economics papers and class 10 mathematics were held on March 26 and March 28, respectively.&nbsp;

The HRD Ministry has set up a "high-powered committee" to examine the process by which the CBSE conducts examinations, following the alleged leak of the Class 10 mathematics and the Class 12 economics papers.

The panel, headed by former HRD secretary V S Oberoi, will also suggest measures to make the process "secure and foolproof through the use of technology" and submit a report by May 31 to the ministry.

"The government had yesterday constituted a High Powered Committee, comprising experts, under chairmanship of V S Oberoi, ex-Secretary, MHRD, to examine the process of conduct of CBSE exams and suggest measures to make it secure and foolproof through the use of technology," the HRD's School Education Secretary, Anil Swarup, said.

The development comes amid criticism over the conduct of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams, following reports of leaks.

The HRD Ministry had last week announced the re-examination of the CBSE Class 12 economics paper on April 25.

It had said the Class 10 mathematics re-test if required, would be conducted only for the Delhi-NCR region and Haryana in July.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

However, yesterday it decided against conducting the latter.

The Delhi Police had registered two cases involving the leaks.

The first case, related to the leak of economics paper was lodged on March 27, while the other pertaining to the leak of mathematics paper was lodged on March 28, following a complaint by the CBSE's regional director.

The examinations for the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economic papers had been held on March 28 and March 26 respectively.

The CBSE exams started late at few centres in the national capital today as many of them expressed inability to follow the new "leak-proof" system put in place for the first time after question papers for two subjects were leaked.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) also postponed class 12 and class 10 examinations scheduled to be held today in Punjab at the request of the state government in view of 'Bharat bandh' called by several Dalit organisations against the "dilution" of the SCs/STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Following the leaks of Economics and Mathematics question papers, the CBSE had announced that the examination centres would henceforth receive an encrypted copy of the question papers on e-mail and they would need to download and print themselves.

The schools were to receive an e-mail link of the question papers, log in using passwords sent for the purpose, and then print over 2,000 sheets of paper until 10:15 AM -- 15 minutes before the exam -- under surveillance.

The process, however, was delayed in some schools.

"We have contacted all regional offices to take account of the situation. In any case, it is a standard procedure that if the exam starts late, students will be given that amount of time to finish it to ensure there is no loss," a senior CBSE official said.

The HRD Ministry also advised students and parents not to rely on rumours and to report to the CBSE if they come across any "hoax leaked papers" floated on social media.

The CBSE had already issued public notices alerting about fake question papers of Hindi Elective, Sanskrit and Political Science, which were circulating on social media, saying they were indicating "hoax leaks".

The CBSE later in the day issued a statement saying at some centres, the exams were delayed by a few minutes to half an hour due to the bandh.

However, the students were facilitated to reach the exam centres and also given additional time to complete the exam without any inconvenience or anxiety, as per standard procedures, it said.

"Amid an atmosphere charged with rumour mongering, the exams went off without a hitch. CBSE would like to thank all its stakeholders, children, parents and schools for their extreme cooperation and for not giving heed to rumours," the statement said.

While the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notice to HRD secretary, CBSE chairperson and Delhi Police chief seeking report in four weeks, the apex court agreed to hear a batch of petitions challenging the CBSE's decision to re-conduct Mathematics and the Economics examination for Class 10 and 12 respectively after the question papers were allegedly leaked.

In a separate petition, the Delhi High Court asked the CBSE about its plans, if any, to re-conduct the class 10 Maths test the question papers for which had been leaked recently.

The police feel that the whistleblower who was alerting CBSE about paper leak through fax, courier and email is the same person and can prove to be a key link in this case.

Hence to locate the same, the Delhi Police have written to Google to share details of the email-id from which the CBSE chairperson was sent the mail about the paper being leaked.

Till now, police have come to know that CBSE question papers were leaked on 10 WhatsApp groups. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police is questioning Admins and members of these WhatsApp groups.

The police had also interacted with the CBSE Controller of Examination to understand the process of conducting exams.

The whistleblower, according to the police, sent a fax message on March 23 to the CBSE and alleged that a coaching centre was involved in a paper leak.

The concerned person then again on March 26 sent a courier to the Rouse Avenue office of the CBSE. In the courier, answers of the Class XII Economics question paper were written on four pages. Apart from it, mobile numbers of four persons were also mentioned who allegedly received these question papers on the WhatsApp groups.

Two days later, the CBSE chairperson received an email from devn532@gmail.com at 1:39 a.m. with an attachment of 12 pages in which questions and answers of class X were written. The mail also appealed the CBSE to cancel the exams. However, the examination board did not cancel the exams.

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged in this connection on March 28 evening.&nbsp

CBSE Political Science paper was also leaked, says a whistleblower

Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday quashed all confusion regarding the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) re-examination. The minister stated that 14 lakh class-X students, out of a total of 16 lakh students, will not have to appear for the mathematics re-examination.&nbsp;

Javadekar also noted that a retest will be conducted in Delhi and Haryana only if the police investigation points to a large-scale leak.

"I really feel sorry and sad for the students who have to give their exams again for no fault of theirs. Responsibility shud be fixed n strict action shud be taken against those responsible (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.

CBSE paper leak: Protesting students demand re-exams in all subjects, say more papers leaked

In the wake of reports <a href="http://cmsuat.wionews.com/india-news/march4education-leakinggovt-people-tweet-frustration-over-cbse-leaks-126872">claiming paper leaks of Class 10 mathematics</a> and Class 12 economics subjects, the Delhi Police's crime branch has begun investigation after registering two separate cases in the matter, an official said on Wednesday.

The Central Board of <a href="http://cmsuat.wionews.com/india-news/cbse-exam-paper-leak-pm-modi-asks-hrd-minister-to-take-strict-action-126790">Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a</a> circular informing about the re-examination and said dates and other details for it would be posted on the board's website.

"The board has taken cognisance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With a view to uphold the sanctity of the board examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the board has decided to re-conduct the examinations for the following subjects," it said.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) R P Upadhyay and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar also held a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik in the evening to discuss the future course of investigation.

In a statement, the Delhi Police said that they have registered two cases. The first case in connection with the leak of economics paper was lodged yesterday while the case pertaining to mathematics paper was lodged today, following a complaint by the regional director of CBSE.

The cases were registered on charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy.

A special investigation team comprising two deputy commissioners of police, four assistant commissioners of police and five inspectors has been set up to investigate the matter. The team will be directly supervised by the joint commissioner of police (crime).

"We have received snapshots of the handwritten paper circulated through Whatsapp from the complainant. We are trying to ascertain the source of these messages. Since Whatsapp messages are end-to-end encrypted, we are facing a bit of difficulty in tracing the source," said an officer privy to the probe.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday, calling for strict action against paper leaks in keyboard examinations.

Reports about the economics paper being leaked had circulated on social media, including on WhatsApp, several hours before the paper commenced on Monday. 
The CBSE, however, denied any leak and urged students and parents not to panic.

"We have checked with all exam centres and the paper was not leaked. The source of circulation of this information is not known yet. We want to urge the students and parents to not panic and assure them that the board is doing its best to ensure sanctity of the examination," a senior CBSE official had said.&nbsp;

On Monday, panic had gripped students of Class 12 following claims on social media that the economics paper had been leaked even though the Central Board of Secondary Education denied there was any slip-up.

Dates for the re-examination of the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics papers would be posted on the CBSE website within a week, the circular said.

On March 15, the Delhi Government had said it had received complaints of the Class 12 CBSE accountancy paper being leaked.The government had ordered a probe, even as the board denied any leak.

Class 12 accountancy question paper allegedly leaked; Manish Sisodia orders inquiry

The CBSE today denied allegations of paper leak of its Class 12 Accountancy examination, asserting that all seals were found intact in the examination centres.

The board also said that it has approached the police against those spreading &quot;false&quot; news.

CBSE reschedules board exams dates for shooter Anish Bhanwala

The Supreme Court today directed the CBSE not to make Aadhaar number mandatory for enrolment of students appearing in NEET 2018 and other all-India exams.

A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief justice Dipak Misra directed the CBSE to upload the information on their website.

Earlier in the day, UIDAI had told the apex court that it has not authorised CBSE to mandatorily take Aadhaar number of students to get themselves enroled for appearing in NEET 2018 examination.

Attorney General K K Venugopal had said he has instructions from Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that like in Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam other identity proofs like passport, voter card and ration card can be used by the CBSE for enroling the students in the examination.

The UIDAI&#39;s remarks came on a plea challenging the decision of CBSE seeking mandatorily the Aadhaar number or Aadhaar enrolment number from students who are aspiring to take up the NEET 2018 examination.

The Gujarat High Court had dismissed the plea on February 27.

The Delhi high court on Wednesday put on hold the operation of a CBSE notification laying down eligibility conditions, including upper age limit of 25 years and 30 years for general and reserved categories respectively, to apply for MBBS course.

The order was passed by a bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and Chander Shekhar on several petitions moved by medical aspirants who are aggrieved by various other eligibility norms which bar them from applying for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG for which the last date for submitting the application is on 9 March.

Under the CBSE notification, candidates who have studied in open school, students who have had biology as an additional subject, those who have taken more than two years to complete their 11th and 12th and students who have studied privately were not eligible to apply for the exam.

The court, while passing its interim order, made it clear that while the candidates are allowed to submit their application for the entrance exam, it does not mean that they can sit for it.

The bench also said students from open school or those who have studied privately should belong to a recognised board in order to apply for the exam. The court said the interim order will continue till the next date of hearing on 6 April.
