'Padmaavat' protests: Section 144 imposed in Noida for 2 months

Class 10 and 12 board exams will start from March 5, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), announced on Wednesday evening. &nbsp;

The board said the exams of both the standards would begin from March 5. While class 10 board exams will continue till April 4, for class 12 the exam will continue until April 12.&nbsp;

As per the CBSE guidelines, the CBSE affiliated schools will be conducting the practical exams from mid-January and complete it by January 31.&nbsp;

This will be the first batch to appear for Class X board examination after the board decided to junk the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) and reintroduce the board exams.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday approved the creation of National Testing Agency (NTA).

NTA, a single agency to conduct all entrance exams, will relieve the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and others from the responsibility of conducting entrance examinations.

Terming the Centre`s decision historic and a much-needed education reform, Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar took to Twitter to say, &quot;NTA will bring in high reliability, standardised assessing aptitude and conduct of tamper-proof exams.&quot;

Setting up of National Testing Agency is a historic decision and a much needed education Reform,&quot; the minister said.&quot;National Testing Agency will take off the burden of conducting entrance exams from CBSE,&quot; he added.

At present, CBSE conducts nine type of entrance examination including CTET(Central Teacher Eligibility Test), UGC NET(UGC`s National Eligibility Test), JEE(Joint Engineering Entrance) Mains, JNV(Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas), in which around 70 lakhs students appear every year.

The NTA will be provided a one-time grant of Rs 25 crores by the central government to start its operation in the first year. Thereafter, it is to be financially self-sustainable.

National Testing Agency gets green light, will conduct all higher education entrance exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has sent a notice to Gurugram&#39;s Ryan International&nbsp;asking for an explanation on why the school&#39;s affiliation should not be revoked after serious security lapses were found following the murder of a seven-year-old student, Pradyuman Thakur, within the school premises.&nbsp;

Flagging several violations of the board&#39;s safety guidelines by the school, the CBSE said the murder could have been averted had the school authorities discharged their duty and responsibility with care and sincerity. It also accused the management of negligence.

&quot;The school management also failed to inform police and education department regarding the&nbsp;incident of death of the child, which shows negligence on the part of school administration. The incident of death of the student was reported to the Police Authorities by the parent,&quot; the show cause notice read.

The show-cause notice was sent to the school&#39;s Bhondsi branch, which has been asked to respond within 15 days.&nbsp;

A CBSE official said that the board will take its next steps after examining the school&#39;s reply.

On Friday, chief minister ML Khattar announced that the Haryana government had taken over the management of the school for three months. He added that he had recommended a CBI probe into the murder of the Class 2 student who was found murdered near the school&#39;s toilet with his throat slit on September 8.

A two-member Special Investigation Team had highlighted glaring lapses in the security infrastructure&nbsp;including non-functional CCTV cameras, non-verification of staff and lack of separate toilets for staff like drivers and conductors.&nbsp;

The SIT report has been received by the CBSE and is being examined in the light of prescribed guidelines and violations, ANI reported.

The board further said that sufficient CCTV cameras at prominent places have not been installed as per our guidelines.

&quot;Most of the CCTV cameras installed in the school building are not functioning,&quot; the board noted.

CBSE notice to Ryan International on why school's suspension should not be revoked

Class 10 and 12 board exams may be advanced from March to February from 2018-19 onwards,&nbsp;the Central Board of Secondary Education&nbsp;(CBSE) said Wednesday, in a bid to&nbsp;ensure error-free evaluation of answer sheets.

&quot;The examinations should start around February 15, and we are also planning to complete them within a month,&quot; CBSE chairman RK Chaturvedi told The Times of India.

But the proposal&#39;s calcification hinges on the approval of the board, the chairman said.&nbsp;

Until now, the board exams are scheduled from March 1 to April 20, taking 45 days to complete.

CBSE board exams may start in February from next batch

The Supreme Court of India tiday&nbsp;asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)&nbsp; to declare the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test&nbsp;(NEET) examination for admission to MBBS and BDS courses by putting a stay on the Madras High Court order restraining publication of results.

The CBSE has&nbsp;set in motion the process for declaring the result of NEET-2017 after the Supreme Court&#39;s go-ahead.

The apex court order comes as a relief for 12 lakh medical aspirants who had given the exam.

The apex court directed the authorities concerned to proceed with the process of declaration of results, subsequent counselling and admission as per the schedule fixed by it earlier.

However, a vacation bench of Justices P C Pant and Deepak Gupta said the declaration of results as well as the subsequent counselling and admission will be subject to the decision of the apex court in the matter pending before it.

The bench also requested all the high courts not to entertain petitions in the matters relating to the (NEET) examination 2017.

The order came on the plea by the&nbsp;CBSE&nbsp;and others challenging the May 24 order of the Madras High Court which had restrained the Board from publishing the results of NEET examination 2017 in which around 12 lakh aspirants had appeared.

Additional solicitor general (ASG) Maninder Singh, appearing for the CBSE, told the bench that due to high court&#39;s order the process of declaration of results and subsequent admission have stalled and the order was in conflict with the schedule fixed by the apex court earlier.

The bench also observed that the high court&#39;s order was &quot;indirectly diluting the schedule&quot; fixed by the apex court.

&quot;On one ground we are inclined to stay the high court&#39;s order. What indirectly this order is doing is that it is diluting the schedule fixed by the Supreme Court,&quot; the bench said while staying the high court&#39;s order.

&quot;In view of the above, the interim order is stayed and it is directed that the authorities concerned will proceed further with declaration of results for the NEET 2017 examination subject to decision of this court,&quot; the bench said while listing the matter for further proceedings after summer vacation.

The CBSE had on June 9 moved the Supreme Court seeking an immediate stay on the Madras High Court order.

The high court had on May 24 granted interim stay on the publication of NEET results on a batch of pleas alleging that a uniform question paper was not given in the examination and there was a vast difference between the ones in English and in Tamil.

The CBSE had said that due to the high court&#39;s order, the entire schedule of counselling and subsequent admission for medical courses through NEET has gone &quot;haywire&quot;.

ASG Singh had earlier told the apex court that out of 12 lakh aspirants who appeared in the NEET 2017, around 10.5 lakh students have given the exam in either Hindi or English while around 1.25 lakh to 1.50 lakh students have appeared in eight vernacular languages.

He had said that a number of pleas have been filed in various high courts in NEET-related matters and high courts have entertained these petitions despite the apex court&#39;s order that no other court shall hear such matters.

He had also sought transfer of petitions from various high courts to the apex court which concerns the NEET for the academic year 2017-18.

Singh had said that challenge to different sets of questions in vernacular languages were on wrong assumptions that they were difficult as the experts had examined that they were different from those in English or Hindi medium but the level of difficulty cannot be said to be different.

He had said that questions were different to keep the larger interest protected on the ground that if there was a leakage of a set of paper in a vernacular language, the majority of students would be protected as candidates appearing in any particular language were less than those opting for English or Hindi.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will announce the examination results of the Senior Secondary Examination (Class 10th) tomorrow.

The CBSE will host its result on the internet and with technical support of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Government of India.

Apart from this, the result will be available on all the official website of the CBSE.

Topping this year&#39;s CBSE Class XII results on May 28, Raksha Gopal, a student of Amity International School scored 99.6 per cent and became all India topper.

Harmehar Kaur Grewal, Class 12th student from Pune despite having physical disability, scored 91.4 per cent in the 12th Boards examination from Army Public School.

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao lend a helping hand to those who did not do well in their CBSE Higher Secondary School exams.

The CBSE, earlier this month, decided to not to move the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court instructions stating that evaluation for the class 10 exams this year should be done as per the grace marks policy.

Aiming to check high cut-offs in colleges, the CBSE had scrapped the moderation policy under which grace marks are given to the students in exams for difficult questions.

In a reply to plea filed by parents and some students, the Delhi High Court earlier instructed the board to follow its `moderation policy`.

Under the moderation policy, students are awarded up to 15 per cent extra marks in certain papers if the questions are deemed to be difficult.&nbsp;

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided that &ldquo;grace marks&rdquo; given to Class 12 students to help clear an exam will be mentioned on mark sheets, an <a href="http://www.hindustantimes.com/education/cbse-step-to-slash-cut-offs-for-du-colleges-but-marksheets-to-state-grace-marks/story-a6Gq7Eb1AHIvDMv15i3ZaJ.html">Indian daily</a> reported.

Grace marks are extra marks given in cases where a student&rsquo;s score narrowly misses the passing mark.

CBSE has also decided to do away with moderation policy, under which grace marks are given to students in exams for &#39;difficult questions&#39;.&nbsp;

Under the moderation policy, examinees are awarded up to 15 per cent extra marks in certain papers if the questions are deemed to be difficult.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting and could result in lower cut-offs in university entrances.

&ldquo;CBSE has decided it will not spike marks at all. This will be implemented for this year&rsquo;s board exam itself. It will award grace marks which will also be reflected in the mark sheet and the website will also clearly mention the mechanism used to give grace marks and to what extent,&rdquo; the Indian daily quoted a senior official as saying.

Officials also said that CBSE has decided to put pressure on other boards to follow.

&quot;Taking strong exception of the indecent depiction of women and misrepresenting the syllabus prescribed by CBSE for Class XII Physical Education Course, the board has registered an FIR under Section 6--Indecent representation of women (Prohibition) Act, 1986,&quot; CBSE spokesperson said.

&quot;The board neither subscribes nor encourages irrelevant, sexist or derogatory references to any gender specially women. The schools should exercise extreme care while selecting books of private publishers.

&quot;The content must be scrutinized to preclude any objectionable content that hurts the feelings of any class, community, gender, religious group in society if prescribing books having such content, the school will have to take the responsibility of such content,&quot; she added.

According to DCP (East) Omvir Singh, an FIR has been registered at Preet Vihar police station against the author and publisher of the book.

Police said that they have taken the books in their possession and will soon be calling the author and publisher of the book for questioning.
