In a statement on Friday (September 23), India's ministry of external affairs said that the perpetrators of these crimes have not been brought to justice so far in Canada.&nbsp;

The statement added that the ministry and High Commission/Consulates General in Canada have taken up these incidents with the Canadian authorities. The authorities have also requested them to investigate the said crimes and take appropriate action.&nbsp;

"In view of the increasing incidences of crimes as described above, Indian nationals and students from India in Canada and those proceeding to Canada for travel/education are advised to exercise due caution and remain vigilant," the ministry mentioned.&nbsp;

Canada on Thursday launched a long-awaited review of its cannabis regulations, four years after becoming the first major economy to legalize its recreational use.

An expert panel led by Morris Rosenberg, a former deputy minister of justice, is to measure the impact of legalization on youth, Indigenous peoples and others, as well as the economy and an illicit market that the new regime was meant to displace.

The panel is also to examine regulatory burdens on the industry and determine if a separate framework for medical marijuana -- which has been legal since 2001 -- needed to be maintained in order to provide access to patients.

Addictions minister Carolyn Bennett said, "We knew that young people are at increased risk of experiencing harms from cannabis, such as mental health problems including dependence and disorders related to anxiety and depression."

Public awareness campaigns, she said, have made "young people more aware of the harms of consuming cannabis," but their level of consumption has not fallen since legalization, as hoped.

Rather, it has remained relatively stable, she said.

According to government data, 25 per cent of the population, or 9.5 million Canadians, used cannabis in 2021, down slightly from the previous year.

They spent an average of Can$69 (US$51) on pot per month.

Till now, at least 10 bears have been discovered in the region. The most recent one was of a black bear and her two cubs.&nbsp;

The bears are reluctant to leave as the fruit trees offer a high food reward for them, especially, when they are preparing for hibernation.&nbsp;

Canadian national park authorities advise people to remove fruit trees to keep bears away

United States and Canadian warships carried out a routine transit through the Taiwan Strait just days after President Joe Biden said that the US would support Taiwan in case of an attack from China.

US Navy spokesperson Lt. Mark Langford said in a statement on Tuesday that the USS Higgins – an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer – and HMCS Vancouver – a Halifax-class frigate from the Royal Canadian Navy – were the two ships which made the transit through the Strait.

The US Navy is currently positioned in the area and in recent years, a number of warships have made the journey through the strait. This was one of the few occasions when a Canadian ship also made the transit as confirmed by Ministry of Defence Head of Media Relations Daniel Le Bouthillier.

“Following port visits in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Manila, Philippines, HMCS Vancouver sailed through the Taiwan Strait along with the USS Higgins, as this was the most direct navigational route. This sail was done in full accordance with international law, including high seas navigation rights as outlined in the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea,” Le Bouthillier told CNN.

According to local media reports, Singh’s father was surrounded by friends and family when he gave the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital permission to pull his son off life support on September 17. “The father, who had not seen his son since before the pandemic, had just arrived earlier from Dubai, where he works as a truck driver,” said Sarabjot Kaur, a cousin who grew up with Singh to the Toronto Star newspaper.&nbsp;

Singh’s online GoFundMe page said that the former international student had been declared brain dead and was on life support. He was reportedly described as a “loving son, brother and grandson who will be missed daily.”&nbsp;

Singh had finished his MBA in marketing from India and was a student at Conestoga College who was working part-time at the MK Collision Centre in Milton. As of Sunday afternoon, Singh’s GoFundMe page has raised more than 35,000 dollars which would help his family to return his body to India.&nbsp;

Investigators believe the attack was “unprovoked” and the suspect was on the lookout for an officer, the local media reported. The shooting happened on September 12, following the gunman killing a Toronto police Const. Hong, inside a Tim Hortons, after which he went across the street carjacked another victim and continued to Milton where he shot three more people at the MK Auto Repairs.&nbsp;

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has declared Monday, the day of Queen Elizabeth's funeral, a federal holiday to mourn the monarch's death.

"On September 19, Canadians from across the country will pay their respects to Canada's longest-reigning sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II," Trudeau said in a statement on Tuesday. "For most Canadians, she was the only monarch we ever knew and many of us felt a deep affection and appreciation for her dedication to Canada."

Monday will be a holiday for all federal government employees. Other employers, including provincial and territorial governments, are not required to follow suit.

The premiers of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador issued statements declaring Monday a one-time holiday.

According to police, the suspects were last seen in Saskatchewan’s provincial capital Regina, more than 200 miles (321 kilometres) from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau deplored&nbsp;the mass stabbings and asked anyone with information regarding the incident to contact authorities.

“Yesterday's attacks in Saskatchewan are shocking and heartbreaking. This kind of violence—or any kind of violence—has no place in our country,” Trudeau said.

“We're still of course monitoring the situation closely and we urge everyone to follow all the updates from the authorities. The priority is keeping you and your loved ones safe. So please be careful, if you see anything, if you have any information, please call 911 to share that," he added.
