The 2026 BRIT Awards was held on February 28, and it honoured several stars for their excellence across genres, including pop, rock, hip-hop, R&amp;B and more. Alongside Dean, this year BLACKPINK’s Rosé made history as she became the first K-pop artist to take home a BRIT Award. She won International Song of the Year with Bruno Mars for APT. It was a sweeping win for Charli XCX at the Brit Awards 2025. The singer took home awards in five major categories including the coveted Album of the Year for her record "Brat". She also won the Artist of the Year, Dance Act, Song of the Year for her track &ldquo;Guess&rdquo; which features Billie Eilish.&nbsp;
Charli XCX also won the Songwriter of the Year trophy. This award was announced earlier in the week. Sam Fender won the Rock/Alternative Act and performed the title song from People Watching.&nbsp;
Brit Awards also saw a segment that honoured late singer Liam Payne who died of suspected suicide at a hotel. The host Jack Whitehall led the tribute, and called Liam Payne a "supremely talented musician" and "incredibly nice man." He said, "It is now time to take a moment to remember a very special person who meant so much to many of the people in this room, and to millions of you around the world. Last October, we woke to the devastating news that Liam Payne had tragically passed away.&rdquo;

Following the introduction, Brit Awards had an emotional video montage honouring Payne's life and career.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter paid tribute to the British culture as she wore a red sparkly military-style blazer dress before walking down an aisle lit up with the Union flag. All this while performers in military parade dress followed her.
Brit Awards took place at The O2 Arena in London, and was hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall for a fifth time.

Entertainment Hollywood Brit Awards 2025: Charli XCX picked up the biggest wins of the night with awards like Mastercard album of the year, Artist of the year and Song of the year.

It was a sweeping win for Charli XCX at the Brit Awards 2025. The singer took home awards in five major categories including the coveted Album of the Year for her record "Brat". She also won the Artist of the Year, Dance Act, Song of the Year for her track “Guess” which features Billie Eilish. Charli XCX also won the Songwriter of the Year trophy. This award was announced earlier in the week. Sam Fender won the Rock/Alternative Act and performed the title song from People Watching. Brit Awards also saw a segment that honoured late singer Liam Payne who died of suspected suicide at a hotel. The host Jack Whitehall led the tribute, and called Liam Payne a "supremely talented musician" and "incredibly nice man." He said, "It is now time to take a moment to remember a very special person who meant so much to many of the people in this room, and to millions of you around the world. Last October, we woke to the devastating news that Liam Payne had tragically passed away.” Liam Payne's psychiatrist dropped him as a patient weeks before death Liam Payne's scenes may get trimmed from the show Building The Band: Reports Following the introduction, Brit Awards had an emotional video montage honouring Payne's life and career. Pop star Sabrina Carpenter paid tribute to the British culture as she wore a red sparkly military-style blazer dress before walking down an aisle lit up with the Union flag. BRIT Awards 2025: Complete Winners List

Singer-songwriter Raye was the big winner at the&nbsp;BRIT&nbsp;Awards, the biggest night in&nbsp;British music, on Saturday, setting a new record for most prizes in one night at the annual ceremony.

Raye won six&nbsp;awards, including artist of the year, album of the year for "My 21st Century Blues" and song of the year for "Escapism".

The 26-year-old also triumphed in the genre category for R&amp;B act and was named best new artist. Her tally of seven nods had broken the record for the most nominations by a single artist in any one year, according to the annual ceremony's organisers, the&nbsp;British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

Raye, who parted ways with her record label in 2021 to work as an independent artist after she said the label had withheld her debut album, began early celebrations this week, when she was named&nbsp;BRITs&nbsp;Songwriter of the Year. She is the first woman to win the award since its launch in 2022.

"You just don't understand what this means to me," a tearful Raye said in her acceptance speech for album of the year, while standing next to her grandmother, whom she also thanked for "her prayers".

"I'm so proud of this album. I'm in love with music. All I ever wanted to be was an artist and now I'm an artist with an album of the year."

Jungle won group of the year, while rock band Bring Me the Horizon won the alternative/rock act category, beating the likes of Blur and The Rolling Stones.

Blur, who had three nominations, went home empty handed.

Dua Lipa, who also had three nominations, won pop act.

More than half, 55%, of this year's nominations featured women - either as a solo artist or as part of an all-woman group, the BPI said.

Artist of the year is a gender neutral category now counting 10 nominees after organisers doubled its number following an outcry over an all-male list of contenders last year.

U.S. singer SZA won the gender neutral international artist of the year category, which also now counts 10 nominees, beating the likes of Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. The latter won international song of the year for her hit "Flowers".

This was introduced last year to increase inclusivity after non-binary singer Sam Smith was automatically excluded from previously gendered categories in 2021. Yet, controversially, the category has an all-male shortlist this year, with debonair British songwriter and actor Styles expected to win and perform on the night.&nbsp;

The other shortlisted artists are Stormzy, rapper Central Cee, house musician and producer Fred Again and singer-songwriter George Ezra.

The Brit Awards chairman Damian Christian told Music Week this month that it was "disappointing to see the lack of female representation", blaming a lack of eligible 2022 releases by big female stars.&nbsp;

Styles is also the favourite to win the other top prize, British album of the year, for 'Harry's House' after earlier this month winning the coveted Grammy for album of the year.&nbsp;The record was the UK's biggest-selling album last year.

Styles has "just enjoyed a major triumph at the Grammys, pipping Beyoncé to the top gong of Best Album. "This is definitely his night," wrote the Evening Standard newspaper.

In consolation, Beyonce is widely predicted to win the international artist of the year category at the Brits, which she is not expected to attend in person.

In September, the San Sebastian Film Festival handed out its first-ever gender-neutral acting award, for best leading performance, to joint winners Jessica Chastain and Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl. 
 
Next year's BRITs, the 42nd edition of the awards show, will also extend nominations to featured artists in the coveted song of the year category. Until now, only lead artists or named collaborators were recognised as nominees for the prize.

Winners at next month`s BRIT Awards will receive two different trophies, encouraged to share one as a way to embrace the community spirit and kindness seen during COVID-19 lockdowns, organisers of Britain`s pop music honours said on Wednesday. 
 
Artists Es Devlin and Yinka Ilori designed the statuettes, which will be handed out in pairs at the May 11 ceremony held at London`s O2 arena. 
 
"Each recipient is invited to award the second trophy to someone they consider worthy - it might be recognition - or it might be someone that does something entirely unrelated to music," Devlin said. 
 
Ilori added that the idea came from the experience of lockdown. "Your neighbour you’ve lived beside for six years and never say hello to suddenly gave you flowers, foods, acts of kindness. I wanted to capture that," he said. 
 
Devlin and Ilori follow in the footsteps of designer Vivienne Westwood, milliner Philip Treacy and Turner Prize winner Anish Kapoor, who all designed BRIT trophies in the past. 
 
This year, a colourful larger statuette was inspired by Ilori’s Nigerian heritage, while Devlin said the smaller trophy was "engraved with the maze pattern that celebrates the paths many of those working within the creative industries have had to tread in order to progress through this challenging year". 
 
Some 4,000 people will attend the BRITs, which organisers have said will be the first major indoor music event with a live audience as Britain emerges from COVID-19 lockdown. The ceremony will be part of the UK government’s Events Research Programme, looking at whether major events can take place in closed environments without social distancing. 
 
More than half of the audience, 2,500 people, will be key workers with tickets gifted through a ballot.

Brit Awards 2019: The full list of nominees

A team of British divers who helped save a junior football team stranded in a<a href="http://13.232.42.114/south-asia/thailand-cave-rescue-the-survival-story-of-2018-186098"> flooded cave in Thailand </a>were among those awarded in Britain's traditional New Year Honours, announced on Friday.

The seven underwater specialists involved in the remarkable rescue were joined on the prestigious annual achievement list by Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan and former supermodel Lesley Lawson, better known as Twiggy.

Other recipients include Monty Python actor Michael Palin and Jim Carter from "Downton Abbey", best-selling author Philip Pullman and leading Brexiteer lawmaker John Redwood.

Four of the divers were given awards for exceptional bravery while the three others were made Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).

Richard Stanton and John Volanthen — the first of the divers to reach the 12 stricken children and their coach — were awarded the George Medal, the country's second highest civilian gallantry award.

Stanton had already been made an MBE in 2012 for his rescue services.

Fellow divers Christopher Jewell and Jason Mallinson receive the Queen's Gallantry Medal, while Joshua Bratchley, Connor Roe and Vernon Unsworth were decorated with MBEs.

"For me, after saving the boys, this is the icing on the cake," said Unsworth, who has also risen in fame after suing Tesla entrepreneur <a href="http://www.wionews.com/world/teslas-musk-is-sued-for-calling-thai-cave-rescuer-paedophile-166348">Elon Musk for labelling him a "pedo </a>guy".

"This was a team effort and I'm very honoured to have been recognised, particularly as you don't engage in a major rescue expecting this outcome," he added.

'It makes me giggle'&nbsp;

Sixties it-girl Lawson receives a damehood for services to fashion following a decades-spanning career modelling, singing and acting.&nbsp;

The 69-year-old told Britain's Press Association that the recognition was "wonderful, but it makes me giggle".

"The hardest thing has been keeping it a secret," she said.

Acclaimed director Nolan, an Oscar nominee this year for "Dunkirk" — as well as in 2011 for "Inception" and in 2002 for "Memento" — gets a CBE for services to film.

After graduating from low-budget independent movies, he has directed some of the biggest blockbusters ever made — including several "Batman" films — and become renowned for his technical and narrative daring.

Pullman, the creator of the hugely successful "His Dark Materials" trilogy, receives a knighthood for services to literature.

The 72-year-old said he was "very surprised and honoured" by the acknowledgement.

"I'm most grateful of all to those who continue to read my books, and I hope they don't have to work as hard as those who edit them," Pullman added.

Palin, 75, becomes the first of Monty Python's revered comedy cast to receive a knighthood.

The veteran actor, who has reinvented himself as a travel documentary maker and writer in later life, gets a knighthood for his international contributions to travel, culture and geography.

He said news of the accolade had yet to sink in. "I don't think it will be until I see the envelopes addressing me as Sir Michael Palin," he added.

Meanwhile, as Britain prepares to leave the European Union in March after decades of membership, John Redwood — one of parliament's most prominent eurosceptics — was made a knight.

Redwood was part of a group of eurosceptics who plotted to bring down the government of former Conservative prime minister John Major, who called them the "bastards".

The veteran Conservative lawmaker — a vocal opponent of Prime Minister Theresa May's draft Brexit deal, set to be voted on in mid-January — was among three MPs awarded knighthoods.

There had been speculation this year's honours could be deployed to try to win support for May's plan — but it appears unlikely with Redwood.
