A blast in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/pakistan-must-take-sustained-and-verifiable-action-against-terrorists-united-states-252580">Pakistan's southwestern province</a> of Balochistan killed three, including an opposition political leader, on Saturday afternoon, police and officials said.

Maulana Mohamad Hanif, Deputy Secretary-General of the opposition party Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), was among those killed in the town of Chaman, not far from the Afghan border, District Commissioner Mohammad Bashir said.

Police told Reuters that unknown perpetrators planted an improvised explosive device on a motorbike parked in front of a business centre and detonated it when Hanif left the building.

"Maulana Muhammad Hanif was the target of the bomb blast,” senior police officer Muhammad Iqbal said.

No groups have yet taken responsibility for the explosion, which injured several and damaged nearby buildings and shops.

I am suggesting that Prime Minister Modi is coming to the United Nations, he must mention about the Sindh because India has also got one of its name from the Sindh and lot of Sindhis are living in India and outside".

"At least he (Modi) can talk about human rights, he can talk about religious freedom as what America talks about. Recently, a conference on religious freedom was held in Washington DC," Laghari said.

Along with Samad, many other activists have also called out Islamabad for committing Human Rights violations against the religious minorities.

This comes at the time when the Pakistan government has submitted a dossier in UNHRC over Kashmir.

Suleman Daud also spoke about the recent inclusion of Balochistan Liberation Army on the terrorist list by the US administration. He emphasised that Baloch were not terrorists, they were defending their land and people from foreign invasion and aggression.

"We are trying to protect our resources from the Chinese and we are agitating because we are an occupied nation we have got the right to self-defence and I think if Germany had invaded Britain, they would have done the same. That`s what we are doing and we should keep on doing it," he added.

He said this was all politics as the US had previously banned Mujahideen Khalq (Maryam Rajavi`s party) but now they have taken this group off the terrorist list.

He also emphasised that there are several terrorist organisations whose leaders are in Pakistan even the biggest organisation like Al-Qaeda had their leaders in Pakistan.

Shabir Baloch, a member of Free Balochistan Movement, said that every country is known by its uniqueness such as Switzerland is called the playground of Europe and Japan is called the land of the rising Sun, similarly, Balochistan is called the land of hospitality and brave people.&nbsp;

The British had treaties with Balochistan but it violated those agreements when Pakistan forcibly and illegally occupied Balochistan in 1948.

He said Pakistan is committing grave human rights violations where several mass graves have been discovered but shamefully the so-called human rights organisations were silent on Balochistan`s situation.

Baloch raised a question, "whether they considered human being or not and are the Baloch right less important than those in Kosovo, East Timor, Palestine and Kashmir?."

Graham Williamson, chairman of Nations without States said that Balochistan was once a sovereign nation but Pakistan occupied it in 1948.

"The British in the process of decolonisation of the region have run away and did not honour its agreements with Balochistan to help in time of trouble. Even Britain has allowed Scotland access to a referendum but never did the same with Balochistan. He said if there was a war between Pakistan and India, Pakistan could collapse and Baloch would gain their freedom and same is the case with Iran."

The Baloch must be prepared for such situations and must organise themselves. He emphasised that unity was the key to success.

Mohammad AlHazbawi from the 15 April Movement for the liberation of Al Ahwaz expressed his support to the people of Balochistan and Baloch freedom struggle. He said, "we need to continue and intensify our struggle in accordance with ongoing changes and development in the Middle East. Iran is on the verge of collapse and occupied nations like us [Baloch, Kurd, Arab, Azeri and others] are demanding their freedom. We need to work hard, fast and united against this dangerous virus called Iran to get our freedom. We have to intensify our protests, meetings, press conferences and act together with other non-Persian nations."

He added that Iran will not easily decolonise our lands unless we all unite against this brutal regime. "We assure and urge all other nations to unite and prepare for their freedom. It is a golden opportunity for occupied nations and those under Iran's occupation as the whole world is against Iran and we must not miss this opportunity. United we can win our freedom," Mohammad said.

Desmond Fernandes, a former lecturer at De Montfort University and a genocide scholar, said Pakistani military keeps blocking districts and town in Balochistan and no one is given access to these people and there is continuous genocide of Baloch nation. Before joining with Pakistan on March 27, 1948, &nbsp;the Balochistan Parliament had rejected several proposals of merging with Pak between December 14, 1947 and February 25, 1948.&nbsp;

The Pak army attacked the residence of the Khan of Kalat on October 6, 1958. In the same month, several political leaders of the province were arrested including the Khan of Kalat.&nbsp; 
Pakistan had also imposed Martial law in Balochistan in October 1958.

During the 1960s, protests led by Nawab and tribesmen erupted against the government in several parts of the region. Students also formed organisation and joined the protest movement against the Pakistan establishment by 1967.

The Balochi protest groups fought with the Pakistan government in 1967 and 1968. The clashes led to widespread oppression and fall of the Balochi rebels in 1969.

The government announced the formation of the province of Balochistan in July 1971 after elections. The region was later declared as a province with Mir Ghaus Bakhsh Bizenjo as the Governor.

With assistance from Iraq and Afghanistan, the rebels continued their fight against the Pakistan government which was being provided military support from the US, France and China.

The then prime minister Benazir Bhutto dismissed Governor Bizenjo and Provincial Assembly of Balochistan on February 12, 1973, and appointed a new governor Sardar Akbar Khan Bugti.&nbsp;

The clashes in the region led to the death of around 1,000 people.

A US-based group representing expatriate Mohajirs on Monday called for the creation of an autonomous "Greater Karachi" within Pakistan.

His reaction comes after the ICJ on Wednesday continued its stay on the execution of the Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, held in a Pakistani jail on allegations of spying, and called for an effective review and reconsideration of the conviction.

Jadhav, 49, was purportedly "arrested" from Balochistan by Pakistani security forces on March 3, 2016, after he allegedly entered the country from Iran, as claimed by Islamabad.

It was on March 25, 2016, that then Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, had informed the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad of Jadhav`s "arrest."

Since then, Pakistan has not offered any explanation as to why Islamabad took over three weeks to inform the Indian High Commissioner about Jadhav`s arrest.

Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on April 11, 2017.

Following this, India on May 8, 2017, approached the ICJ against Pakistan "for egregious violations of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963" in the matter.

The protest was aimed at highlighting the escalation of military operation against the Baloch people allegedly by the Pakistan Army in Balochistan.

The activists said that the Pakistani military establishment has been abducting and killing Baloch people who attempt to raise their voice against enforced disappearances and worsening human rights violations.

They held placards with slogans like -- '#CPEC is a map of destruction not development for Baloch people' and 'Baloch enforced disappearances, a crime against humanity'.

"We are here in Cologne to highlight Pakistan's inhumane behaviour in Balochistan. As we all know, there is a Baloch genocide going on in Pakistan which is being carried out by the Pakistan Army. Recently, the Pakistan Army has started a new game by releasing some abducted Baloch persons and abducting more people. They continue their military operations in different ports of Balochistan as well," Atta Baloch, social media manager, BRP Germany chapter said.

"In the name of CPEC and other projects, Pakistan has always looted Baloch resources along with China. When activists, doctors, teachers, lawyers or anyone tries to raise their voice against this genocide and (looting of) Baloch resources, they have been abducted or killed. We request the international community and human rights organisations to take note of Pakistan's inhumane behaviour in Balochistan," he added.

Echoing similar sentiments, another BRP activist named Muhammad Baloch also spoke about the enforced disappearances of Baloch people in Balochistan.

"We have gathered here to protest against the brutalities which Pakistan is carrying out in Balochistan. We have witnessed thousands of Baloch activists and students going missing and the numbers are increasing day by day. Unfortunately, Pakistan is carrying out abductions and the world is not questioning about it," he said.

Requesting the international community to intervene, the activist further said, "We request the world to intervene because Pakistan have started abducting women and children and the circumstances are getting even worse day by day. We request the international media and the UN to intervene as we are experiencing a genocide."

Muhammad Baloch hoped that the atrocities would come to an end and Baloch people would be allowed to live in peace.

Human rights activists from various Baloch organisations have been continuing their campaigns around the world to highlight the worsening human rights situation in Pakistan.

Pakistan's establishment has been long criticised over its practice of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings by International bodies and local human rights organisations that dare to speak out on the issue.

According to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, an entity established by the Pakistani government, about 5,000 cases of enforced disappearances have been registered since 2014. Most of them are still unresolved.

Independent local and international human rights organisations put the numbers much higher. Around 20,000 have reportedly been abducted only from Balochistan, out of which more than 2,500 have turned up dead as bullet-riddled dead bodies, bearing signs of extreme torture.

Before being elected as Prime Minister, Imran Khan had admitted in multiple interviews about the involvement of Pakistan's intelligence agencies in enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings and vowed to resign if he was unable to put an end to the practice, holding those involved responsible.

Ghafoor met with the Chairperson of Defence of Human Rights Pakistan, Amina Masood Janjua when he made the statement on Thursday.

He also claimed that the Chief of Army Staff, General Bajwa, has constituted a special cell at the General Headquarters (GHQ) towards the issue.

"DG ISPR apprised her (Janjua) about the efforts that government and security forces are doing to facilitate them and address the issue for which judicial commission is working day and night. He also apprised her about special directions and constitution of special assistance cell at GHQ for assisting the process," a statement tweeted by Ghafoor said.

Earlier in January 2014, a mass grave was discovered in Tootak area of Khuzdar. As many as 167 bodies were recovered from the site.&nbsp;

Human rights organisations believed the bodies belonged to previously abducted individuals, who were killed and dumped.&nbsp;

However, the recovered bodies were later buried by authorities without any DNA testing.

His frustration erupted after a series of recent bombings in Balochistan.&nbsp;

At least three people, including a religious leader, were killed and 28 wounded after an explosion rocked a mosque on Monday.

"If we count the numbers of traitors -- Muhammad Ali Jinnah`s sister Fatima Jinnah, Pashtun independence activist Bacha Khan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif -- all of them were branded as traitors," said Mengal during a session in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Last month, as many as 14 people were shot dead on Thursday after being offloaded from passenger buses on Makran coastal highway in Balochistan.

"We have to sit and talk. Let`s take it seriously. A commission should be made to suggest how to prevent these attack. People should have human rights," he said.

Criticising Prime Minister Imran Khan, the chief of Balochistan National Party said: "People were suffering in old Pakistan, and are suffering in `Naya Pakistan` too."

Karima Baloch said, "If raising a voice for our rights is extremism then we are extremists. They have occupied our province by using force. Pakistan always talks about the freedom of Kashmiris at various international forums. Why Pakistan did not criticize the Kashmiris then? If speaking about freedom and preserving our culture, language and territory is extremism, then we are extremists. They can call us anything, but we will not stop our struggle."

A large number of political activists, intellectuals and students have gone missing from Balochistan in the past few years. These people have been allegedly abducted by the Frontier Corps (FC) and other intelligence agencies including ISI, and are languishing in detention centres.
