Both sets of heroes hail from Marvel comic books, but corporate business decisions over the past several decades kept them apart when it came to movies -- the X-Men were with Fox, Spider-Man was with Sony. 'Captain Marvel' was not the first MCU film for Brie Larson but 'Avengers: Endgame'

<p>Rajinikanth's influence is not just restricted to India alone. Filmmaker Joe Russo- one half of the Russo Brothers- the directors of 'Avengers: Endgame'- has revealed that how he was influenced Rajini's 2010 blockbuster 'Robot' and wanted to have a similar climax for the film 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"'Robot' almost influenced the climatic moments in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'... In one of the final scenes all the Ultrons were supposed to form a large Ultron and Avengers were set to fight that but the sequence got cut for time. It was this close. I was inspired directly by 'Robot'," said the director while addressing the press in Mumbai on Monday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Russo is in India <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/avengers-endgame-director-joe-russo-arrives-in-india-to-launch-ar-rahmans-anthem-for-the-film-207114">to promote his upcoming film 'Avengers: Endgame' </a>which he co-directed with his brother Anthony Russo.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The filmmaker seemed to be quite impressed by Indian films and revealed how he is in talks with Priyanka Chopra for a project.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 47-year-old filmmaker, who is known for giving Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) a grounded tone along with his brother Anthony Russo, finds Priyanka "fantastic" and would love to work with her.</p>

<p>"Priyanka is transitioning into global status now. She is fantastic... (I would) Love to work with her... I am potentially talking to Priyanka for something. I am not going to say what it is," Russo said in a group interview here.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last year, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige had said that they are planning to make a standalone on superhero Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan. After the news broke, many fans on social media expressed their desire to see Priyanka playing the character of Marvel's first Muslim superhero.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The filmmaker said as an action director, Indian films like 'Dabangg' series were an interesting watch for him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I'm an action director so I saw 'Dabangg' many years ago. I still have to see 'Dabangg 2'. I thought the camera work was great in those movies. The tone and energy is also great. So, I certainly know Salman Khan," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Russo also said that how it was important to promote the film in India and Marvel has a strong fan base in the country. "There was a recording of an Indian audience watching the 'Infinity War' and the moment Thor lands, the cheers sounded like a football stadium. We used to play that recording whenever we would get tired (working) on 'Endgame' because it took us two years to make that movie.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We would just play that recording and get reinspired. This response from the audience is why we make these movies. We know there is an excited fanbase here."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Russo added that if Marvel planned&nbsp;to introduce an Indian superhero, he would bat for a Bollywood star to play the part.&nbsp;"I will pick Bollywood stars to play Indian superheroes. I think moving forward, you are going to see a really diverse Marvel universe.&nbsp; It is really important for all the audiences around the world because these movies are so global. They should be able to identify with a character on the screen. I think you are going to see that really soon," the filmmaker said.</p>

‘Avengers: Endgame’, the last film of the third phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe is barely a month away and makers have finally revealed which superheroes don’t make it towards the end of the last film, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. The evil guy Thanos snapped his fingers at the end of the last film after collecting all Infinity stones. It led to the death of many of our beloved superheroes including Black Panther, Spider-Man, Star-Lord and many others. Marvel came out with two sets of posters, a black and white series showing the ones that have turned to dust while another bunch that is colourful that goes to show that these superheroes are alive. All posters carry the tagline: “Avenge the Fallen”. Meanwhile, the trailer of the film came out a few days back. See it here. Among those alive are Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Scarlet the Witch and others. Earlier, these stars got together to issue Thanos a warning on Instagram. 'Avengers: Endgame' posters reveal who's dead or alive after Thanos' snap in 'Infinity War'

<p>A month before the last Avengers film following the Infinity stones story hit the theatres, the superheroes got together to give Thanos a warning, for real!</p>

<p>In a picture that is winning hearts on social media, Avengers can be seen posing together. The pic is black and white and has original 6 Avengers --Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth. <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/mark-ruffalos-reaction-on-hulks-absence-from-avengers-endgame-poster-is-on-point-204118">This is how Mark Ruffalo reacted to&nbsp;the poster of 'Avengers: Endgame'.&nbsp;</a></p>

<p>Marvel head Kevin Feige had recently spoken about this film bringing an end to phase 3 of Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/first-three-phases-of-marvel-films-to-be-called-the-infinity-saga-204697">first three phases will together be called the ‘The Infinity Saga’</a>. He said, “We wanted to bring to a conclusion a series of movies in a way that had never been done before. Harry Potter had an ending because there were only so many books. Lord of the Rings too. But we thought, 22 movies in, wouldn't it be fun to bring some finality to the storyline.”</p>

<p>Kevin also explained that the said title is appropriate as all the 22 films of Avengers are loosely connected to Infinity stones and all major superheroes come together to fight for the cosmos.&nbsp;</p>

<p>About the film focusing on original six, he said, “People would point out that that Cap wasn’t in Infinity War a whole lot. And Iron Man didn’t really speak for that last half hour because of what was going on. But those characters and all of the original six are very much the focus of Endgame in a very personal and emotional way.”</p>

<p>‘Avengers: Endgame’ will hit the screens on April 26, 2019.<br />

A month before the last Avengers film following the Infinity stones story hit the theatres, the superheroes got together to give Thanos a warning, for real! In a picture that is winning hearts on social media, Avengers can be seen posing together. The pic is black and white and has original 6 Avengers --Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth. This is how Mark Ruffalo reacted to the poster of 'Avengers: Endgame'. Getting together in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, the film will see all major stars of the franchise come together to fight against one true evil, Thanos. Thanos had in the previous film killed half the population of the world with just one finger snap. The Avengers want to avenge that and undo his act in the coming film. Watch trailer. The photo carries the caption: “Dear Thanos, we’re coming for you... sincerely A6!” he captioned the image, along with a hashtag with a reference from the latest trailer, #whateverITtakes. <p>It is the first Marvel female superhero movie, steered by an Oscar-winning actor, equally known for being a vocal women's rights activist. It is also the first time a female director, Anna Boden, is driving a superhero film in Marvel's stable with her "equal" collaborator of 20 years, Ryan Fleck.&nbsp;<br />
Larson, in an interview in Singapore, had told PTI that the film gave her a bigger platform to talk about feminism, a cause close to her heart.<br />
"I feel so lucky that I made my first blockbuster movie and I just get to talk about feminism all day.</p>

<p>&nbsp;I never would have thought that was like a possibility for me. That's like my dream," the actor said last month.</p>

<p>Boden said as challenging as directing the film was, it was also empowering to be at the helm of big studio production.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She, however, hoped that there comes a time when a female director for a superhero film becomes a norm rather than an exception.<br />
<br />
"It's 2019... And everybody here looks for the day when it is not newsworthy that a woman is directing this kind of movie," she said at press conference in Singapore.</p>

<p>The theatrical release in India and the US on International Women's Day is an obvious move but the film is clear in its projection and reflection of a world that is going through campaigns like Time's Up.</p>

<p>But the risks, no matter how calculated, cannot be ignored.</p>

<p>It is the first attempt at a studio film as big as Marvel for the directors, who have indie, character-driven films like "Half Nelson" and "Mississippi Grind" to their credit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shouldering a stand-alone introductory film of a female hero in the aftermath of Harvey Weinstein scandal is a big responsibility.</p>

<p>The director duo said they did an "all expenses paid" course at 'Marvel University', where they were supported by the team well-versed with the MCU history, which was unfamiliar terrain for them.</p>

<p>Despite the training, directing "Captain Marvel" was a "scary and humbling" experience for Boden though the directors don't feel any obligation towards "Endgame" where Captain Marvel is already set to play an integral role as the post-credit scenes in "Infinity War" revealed.</p>

<p>"Honestly, since they won't tell us anything about 'Avengers'? They have a lock and key on that, we feel no commitment and responsibility to that movie at all. We're just focused on our movie," she told PTI.</p>

<p>The film spells out its goal, clearly aided by dialogues that check all the trending words - feminism, female representation, diversity, racism and xenophobia moulded in signature Marvel-esque humour.</p>

<p>The world of "Captain Marvel" is populated by Samuel L Jackson's younger, simpler Nick Fury; multi-layered women in Gemma Chan's no-nonsense Min-Nerva, Lashana Lynch's instinctive Maria, Annette Bening's double stunner, Jude Law's focused Yon-Rogg and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos who one ends up rooting for.</p>

<p>But what helps the film most is Larson's earnestness as the new hero on the horizon, who is capable of taking on Thanos in "Endgame".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film has its flaws like the character herself, but she is a suitable role model for female fans of the superhero genre.&nbsp;</p>

<p>All in all, a Marvel fan will walk out from the theatres with lots of trivia and '90s nostalgia.</p>

After the news was announced on social media, netizens took to their profiles in excitement. Among others, Chris’ Avengers’ colleague, ‘Captain America’ Chris Evans also tweeted. He wrote: "This might be the best news I've ever heard." Hemsworth and Evans will reunite for the last film from the Avengers franchise -- ‘Endgame’. The film is slated to release this April. Hulk Hogan began his career in the late 1970s in the Florida wrestling circuit and steadily rose to the ranks. The film will reportedly delve into his early life and focus on the wrestler's rise to stardom. It is said that the film will not focus on his personal conflicts or talk about the sex tape scandal.

Avengers' 'Thor' Chris Hemsworth set to play wrestler Hulk Hogan in upcoming biopic

<p>Gwyneth Paltrow has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since the first Iron Man film in 2008 came out. Paltrow, who plays Pepper Pots, Tony Stark's love interest-cum-assistant has been mart of Avengers films as well. But looks like Paltrow is all set to bid goodbye to MCU.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an interview to Variety, Paltrow revealed that 'Avengers: Endgame' would be her last Marvel film. " “I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Jon Favreau (Iron Man director). It was such a wonderful experience making the first 'Iron Man' and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”</p>

<p>“I feel honoured to be a part of something that people are so passionate about.” The actress though mentioned that she would come back whenever Marvel needed her, “Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?’ I will always be there if they need me.”</p>

<p>In the first trailer of 'Avengers: Endgame', Tony Stark can be seen sending a message to Potts as he is stuck in space after Thanos' snap.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier in September, Paltrow shared a photo with Robert Downey Jr which presumably was from the sets of 'Avengers: Endgame' putting rest to speculations on whether she is part of the film or not.&nbsp;</p>

Avengers: Did Gwyneth Paltrow just confirm her exit from Marvel Cinematic Universe?

<p>It's not the end of Stan Lee just as yet. The man who breathed his last on Monday night was known to make cameo appearances in several Marvel films. Lee may not be there when 'Avengers 4' releases in 2019, but fans will get a glimpse of the man who created these superheroes in the film.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
According to media reports, Lee had already shot for his part in the film in April earlier this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a report published in CBR.com back in April, director Joe Russo had confirmed Lee's appearance in the upcoming 'Avengers 4'. &nbsp;"So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time... so if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance, 'Ant-Man 2' or 'Avengers 4', we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day,” Russo had said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Not just 'Avengers 4', Lee will also feature in the upcoming movie 'Captain Marvel' and Disney film 'Ralph Breaks the Internet'.</p>

<p>Co-creator of some of the most iconic superheroes of our time, Stan Lee is credited for the success of Marvel comics in 1960s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The creator of Black Panther, Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Avengers and The Incredible Hulk amongst an array of well-loved superheroes, Lee had started Marvel comics with Jack Kirby in 1961 with `Fantastic Four`.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also made cameo appearances in all of the Marvel movies. He had suffered major medical ailments over the last year. Lee is survived by his daughter. His wife, Joan, died in 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There’s some good news as well as bad news for Avengers lovers as Benedict Cumberbatch finally speaks on the return of his character Doctor Strange in upcoming film Avengers 4 ( or so it is generally referred to as).&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
In the last Avengers film, Doctor Strange turned to dust leaving many fans heartbroken. Whether he will return in the upcoming film has been on the minds of many.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
When Benedict was asked by late night show host Jimmy Fallon on his return. Fallon said, “It’s a silly question but, will you be in Avengers 4?" To which he replied, " “I’m dust, baby, I’m out there. I’m in the Ether. I’m probably part of your food chain. I’m in your stomach somewhere."&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Cumberbatch also added: “Well, who knows?”</p>

Some fan theories also suggest that Doctor Strange’s comeback is inevitable as Marvel is planning his sequel. Kevin Feige, Marvel said, “Sometimes it's where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he's a very big part of [Avengers:] Infinity War. So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”</p>

Avengers 4: Chris Evans gets emotional after shooting for the last time as Captain America

In an era when superheroes seem to be everywhere, there were literally dozens in the most recent "Avengers" film -- the Man of Steel stands apart.

In an era when superheroes seem to be everywhere -- there were literally dozens in the most recent "Avengers" film -- the Man of Steel stands apart. Eighty years after his debut in Action Comics #1, dated June 1938, Superman is still an American cultural icon, the hero of reference and the undisputed star of DC Comics. And today, the comic book publisher -- also known for Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern, among others -- is counting on Superman more than ever. "He is the mould people worked with, the template for the idea of a superhero," explains Jared Smith, who works in a comic book store in Washington. "Superman is a very idealized character. They call him the Boy Scout of America. He always does the right thing and tries do to the good thing." In Action Comics #1, 13 pages were dedicated to the story of Kal-El, an alien from the planet Krypton with supernatural strength, sent to Earth by his father before his home planet was destroyed. Superman's debut was a smash success. A year later, DC Comics gave the Man of Steel his own book and introduced another formidable hero: Batman. Eighty years on, the formula has not changed: Superman has more or less always appeared in his red, blue and yellow suit with the "S" symbol on the chest. In his appearances on the silver and small screen, in comic strips and video games, he has fought for truth, justice and the "American Way." In Illinois, the town of Metropolis -- which shares a name with Superman's fictional home -- organizes an annual festival celebrating the hero. This summer, on the heels of a "Man of Steel" mini-series, DC Comics will reboot the standalone "Superman" series. For the challenge, they tapped Brian Michael Bendis, a legend in the genre who worked for two decades at rival publisher Marvel. "You always feel the legacy of the character when you hop on, and I've had that joy a couple of times, but there's something different about Superman," Bendis said in an interview with pop culture website Nerdist. "I think there's something fascinating about the fact that not only did this character invent the genre but it stayed true and became the core, soul, and centre of the genre for the entirety of its existence." Superman is an immigrant on Earth, raised by a farmer and his wife from infancy in fictional Smallville. Eventually, he takes the name Clark Kent, moves to Metropolis and becomes a journalist. His two creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, were Jewish high school students when they first came up with the idea for Superman. Their parents were immigrants, and their character personified the American dream -- a metaphor for immigrants who fled Europe in the 1930s for the peace and prosperity of America. It's a theme that Bendis plans to pick up. "People would come from all over the world just to live in Metropolis, to be watched over by the most famous immigrant," Bendis told The Washington Post. "It's not going to be this huge message, it's just going to be there -- just flavour, the way we see the world." From time to time in the past, Superman's popularity waned -- his chiselled perfection was sometimes too much for an imperfect audience, who turned to Spider-Man and the X-Men, whose flaws they could identify with more readily. "They made him so powerful as a character that there was nothing that could really threaten him, so after that, they introduced the idea of Kryptonite from his planet that could take away some of his powers," Smith explains. To keep Superman in step with society, writers tried to keep him in sync with political and societal changes of the times -- in 1978, he met boxing legend Muhammad Ali, who took him to the ghettos of Metropolis. More recently, Superman wanted to surrender his American nationality in protest at the government, which he felt had betrayed him. In another storyline, he saved migrant workers from a white supremacist, a nod to far-right violence seen in some corners of the country. Smith even recalls that the Man of Steel had something of a "socialist start," fighting capitalists "who were taking too much money or not treating their workers well" in the 1930s and 1940s. As ever, he fights for the American Way, whatever the definition.
