Marvel superhero movie Avengers: Infinity War&nbsp;earned impressive reviews on Tuesday ahead of what is expected to be one of the biggest box office opening weekends on record.

Critics largely praised the Walt Disney Co. film for its ambition, scale and wit in assembling more than 20 Marvel comic book heroes, and for a jaw-dropping ending that seems designed to get audiences hooked for another instalment next year.

"Marvel hits the jackpot again," said The Hollywood Reporter, while USA Today loved its "unexpected returns, true surprises, real sacrifices and a cliffhanger ending that’s going to freak fans to their superhero-loving core."

Box office analysts say Infinity War&nbsp;could come close to, or even break, the $248 million North American opening weekend record set in 2015 by Star Wars: The Force Awakens,&nbsp;also from Disney.

Barton Crockett, media industry analyst at B. Riley FBR, predicted a $238 million weekend debut for the film. Hollywood trade paper Variety put the opening range at $225 million to $245 million.

Only five movies have taken in more than $200 million at the North American box office on their opening weekend.

Online ticket company Fandango said on Tuesday that the movie had already sold out more than 1,000 showtimes in U.S. theatres for Thursday`s opening night.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Josh Brolin, to name but a few, Infinity Wars&nbsp;had a reported $300 million to $400 million production budget. Disney declined to comment on the budget.

The movie, which begins its worldwide rollout on Wednesday, brings together more than 20 superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Widow and Black Panther for an all-out battle with supervillain Thanos.

Plot details have been shrouded in secrecy, but several major characters die or appear to be killed off.

Variety called the movie "overstuffed and bedazzling" and predicted the ending would be much talked about. "It is dark and spooky and, in its way, chancy and shocking. Do any of our beloved characters die? Well, yes. But, in fact, the ending is so audacious that you realise it`s all an elaborate card trick."

Another, as-yet-untitled Avengers movie is in post-production and due for release in May 2019.

Infinity Wars&nbsp;scored a positive 75 percent among top critics on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Among the less enthusiastic were Time Out, which called it "an overstuffed sausage of summer entertainment," and Slant magazine, which said it was "all manic monotony" but "passably numbing in the moment."&nbsp;

'Avengers: Infinity War' early reviews promise a cliffhanger ending; poised for huge opening

Secrecy was key during filming on the Walt Disney Co. movie, which brings together almost every comic-book hero in Marvel`s cinematic universe for an all-out battle with supervillain Thanos.

Most of the actors were given scripts for only the scenes they were filming or given complete scripts that turned out to be fake, in order to prevent spoilers - particularly which characters may get killed off - from leaking out.

The cast will not see the finished product until the world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night.

"I kind of like that," said Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Dr. Strange. "I like that we`ll be sitting in our own audience ... it`s just going to be a thrill to watch it for the first time. I`m genuinely really, really excited."

With outsize heroes, including Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy, comes massive fan appeal.

'Avengers: Infinity War' cast did not watch the full film until its world premiere

They may be the most money-minting films at the box office, but superhero movies have not managed to make it big at the Oscars and Joe Russo believes the "stigma" attached to the genre is responsible for the snub.

Joe, along with his brother Anthony Russo, has helmed blockbuster Marvel films "The Winter Soldier", "Captain America: Civil War", the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War"&nbsp;and its sequel. The director said it is unfortunate that the genre is ignored in major categories but he understands the Academy's intention of highlighting movies which are unable to grab the attention they deserve.

"The Oscars in a way help support movies that haven't got a lot of attention or deserve more attention. Superhero movies actually don't require a lot more attention. But I do feel it has been unfortunate that superhero films haven't been included in main categories. There is a stigma towards the films. We are making these movies because we are trying to tell the best stories we can and we have a lot of incredible fans whom we want to satisfy with our storytelling. Our direct connection is with the fans," Joe said.&nbsp;

The director says superhero movies have more to them then just "saving the world" and through their films, they always try to deliver a relevant message. "I grew up a comic book fan and a movie fan. I like movies with thematics and I like the complicated, rich storytelling. I want to go and see films. And if there is something deeper I could pull out of it, I do it. For us, it is very important to have dimensions in our stories. The theme of this movie ('Infinity War') is also relevant. It is about what it costs to be a hero in a complicated world and to see value of the cost. And, all the heroes have to answer that question. That is something the audience will relate to," he said.

Joe said, with "Infinity War", they have again tried to do something different by telling the story of the villain - Thanos, not the heroes. "It was important for us to make Thanos, who has just been a guy sitting on a chair with few cameos... More dimensionalised and complicated. It was important for us to make the audience feel the anger and empathy towards him at the same time. And we try to make these movies different from each other."

"People will understand when they see the movie. For us, the hero is only as good as the villain. What Thanos is bringing to the film is so intense. The cost heroes will pay is so much. This is something fans will see for the first time in a Marvel film. It is his moment to shine. It is his story," he said.

Starring Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Karen Gillian, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt, the film releases on April 27.

Joe Russo on Oscars snub: There is a stigma towards superhero films

He is one of the few stars who knows how the story of "Avengers: Infinity War" unfolds, but do not expect any spoilers from Benedict Cumberbatch as he says he is good at "keeping secrets".

The 41-year-old actor, who plays Doctor Strange in the much-awaited movie, said it was not a curious fan in him, but an old-school performer that demanded the script from Marvel.

"I am kind of old-school in terms of filmmaking. I don't know how I managed to get the complete script. I am good at keeping secrets. As a fan, I didn't want to know what was going on, but as a character I had to understand the bracket in which I had to be operating. I had more reasons, other than curiosity," Cumberbatch said in a group interview here.

Marvel has been very guarded throughout the production of "Infinity War". So much so that directors Joe and Anthony Russo kept the full script out of the stars' hands only providing them with their scenes.

At the beginning of the worldwide promotional campaign of the film, the duo also put out a letter appealing to the fans to keep spoilers to themselves.

Cumberbatch said reading the script made no difference as he is confident that there will be many more surprises for him when he finally catches the film at its premiere.

"It doesn't make a difference. I will be sitting in the premiere and going like, 'Did I read that?'. A Marvel film is never what it is on script and that's what the joy is. There is a great fluidity and improvisation," he said.

Set to release on April 27, "Infinity War" is the biggest superhero saga to be witnessed by the audiences ever, with fan favourites such as Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, Black Panther among others, joining forces to defeat the most powerful villain, Thanos.

And while fans are curious as to who emerges unharmed in the climax, Cumberbatch said the film is all about staying "united".

"We strongly stand together. 'We are united' that's what the feeling you get from the Avengers. It is about putting away your differences and uniting. These Marvel films always bring people together. They always have science, logic, social and political tones. This one is about 'United We Stand'."

The actor said working on the film was a "big deal" for him as a number of people have devoted their lives in creating this magical universe of superheroes which inspires generations.

"This film is a big deal. This doesn't happen every day. Making this film may be just 10 years of the talents' life, but years of work by many people to get to this place. It is pretty hard. I am like 'holy crap? To be a part of something like this extraordinary without repeating'," he said.

"I went to dinner of the Avengers and there I realised that many people have given their lives and families and their children to make it a huge success. It was incredible to see the first clip of the film at D23 (Expo). I was pretending not to cry thinking that it would be it be a little bit hysterical. It was generally very moving not just because of the arc of the story but the time people have invested in this unique enterprise," the actor added.

The British star was at his wittiest best as he promoted the Russo Brothers-directed film here.

Staying true to his English sense of humour, the actor said if given a chance, he would like to play Groot from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" as it is "like a walk in the park".

He also shared that it took him around two-and-a-half hours to get ready for his role of Doctor Strange.

"I watch Netflix during that time. I eat when they are putting make-up and that drives them crazy. It is difficult. Also, I meditate a lot at that time," he added.

Earlier in the day, during a press conference, Cumberbatch and Iron Man Robert Downey Jr left everyone in splits when they were asked if they ever shared a "Sherlock" joke on the sets.

To which Cumberbatch funnily replied, "There wasn't any joke and I hope there isn't any in future."

Downey Jr played the legendary detective in 2009 film "Sherlock Holmes" and its 2011 sequel, while Cumberbatch essayed the title role in a crime drama TV series based on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories.

Cumberbatch states that there is a lot of room for improvisation.

Chris Evans posts a sweet message for his young 'Avenger' fan who died of cancer

There is just too much excitement around Avengers: Infinity War and rightly so. The film that features a gamut of stars has been teasing fans with posters and teasers for the past few weeks which has just piqued our curiosity. The latest teaser gives a glimpse of Black Panther and Teenager Groot from Guardians Of The Galaxy.&nbsp;

The video, titled ‘All of Them’, offers a better look at the Battle of Wakanda, which they’ve been teasing ever since the first trailer was unveiled. Chadwick Boseman can be seen saying, &nbsp;“Today we don’t fight for one life, we fight for all of them,” giving a hint at the enormous crisis at hand for the superheroes.&nbsp;
&nbsp;

<iframe allow="autoplay encrypted-media" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YZ1UN5gvLjQ" width="560"></iframe>

Black Panther’s star power has risen significantly since the release of the character’s solo movie in February. The film has shattered Box Office records with stupendous earnings at the Box Office and recently overtook the first Avengers movie to become the highest-grossing superhero movie of all time in America. So it is natural that Marvel Cinematic Universe would plug Boseman's track a lot more in all the trailers of the upcoming Avengers film.&nbsp;

The new trailer also gives us our first good look at teen Groot. Vin Diesel, who gives Groot his voice, also gets to be a part of Avengers. Diesel’s voice is heavily modified like all Guardians Of The Galaxy films. He is seen retorting with a signature ‘I am Groot,’ when Peter Quill scolds him about always being on the phone.

Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr, Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L Jackson, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Rudd and Tom Hiddleston.&nbsp;

The film is scheduled for an April 27 release worldwide.

Marvel cashes in on Black Panther's popularity.

Baahubali star Rana Daggubati has lent his voice to the character of Thanos for the Telugu version of Hollywood film Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel Studios` Avengers: Infinity War, which features an ensemble of superheroes, will release worldwide on April 27.

Disney India, in a move to expand its reach in the country, has signed on Rana to lend his voice for the villainous character.

"I`ve grown up reading Marvel Comics and Marvel movies with their intricately woven storylines. It is fascinating to see how Marvel has created characters and stories that resonate so well with audiences across the globe, making movies at a scale that one had never before imagined," Rana said in a statement.

"Characters such as Iron Man and Captain America have been my favourites. So dubbing for Avengers: Infinity War&nbspwas thrilling. "This year marks a milestone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it turns 10 and to add to the excitement, we are releasing Avengers: Infinity War&nbsp- the biggest superhero crossover one has ever seen," said Bikram Duggal, Executive Director and Head, Studio Entertainment, Disney India.

Duggal added, "We are offering our fans in South India an opportunity to experience the grandeur of the movie in a language that they prefer".

"With Rana Daggubati coming on board as the voice of Thanos, we are confident of reaching out to a wider audience base while retaining the magnitude and staying true to the ethos of the Marvel brand," Duggal said.

Earlier, Disney India adopted a similar strategy for The Jungle Book&nbspin 2016, signing on Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Nana Patekar, late Om Puri and Shefali Shah, to bring to life the characters in the Hindi version of the film.

It was followed by roping in actor Varun Dhawan for Captain America in the movie Captain America Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War&nbspis directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and produced by Kevin Feige.

The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Josh Brolin, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch amongst others.
