<p>According to Deadline, Schwarzenegger will also executive produce the yet-to-be-titled project from ‘Scorpion’ creator Nick Santora. The hour-long series is billed as a global spy adventure with a father (Schwarzenegger) and daughter at the centre of the story.</p>

<p>Schwarzenegger last appeared on the small screen in a one-off episode of popular sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’ in 2015. Santora is developing and executive producing the series as part of his overall deal with Skydance.</p>

<p>He also serves as executive producer/showrunner of the studio's upcoming ‘Jack Reacher’ series for Amazon.<br />
The new series will also be executive produced by Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost. Carolyn Harris will oversee the project for the company.</p>

<p>Schwarzenegger and Skydance share a longstanding relationship, thanks to ‘Terminator’ films ‘Genisys’ (2015) and ‘Dark Fate’ (2019), in which he reprised his iconic role of T-800 in the latest sequels of the popular sci-fi franchise.</p>

<p>Soon after he asked fans, he was able to gather funds worth nearly $500,000.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “I never believed in sitting on the couch and complaining about how bad things are, I always believed we should all do our part to make things better. This is a simple way to protect our real action heroes on the frontlines in our hospitals, and I’m proud to be part of it.”</p>

<p>He linked to the GoFundMe page for the Frontline Responders Fund, which was created just one day ago and already has $3.3 million in donations.</p>

<p>The terminator series has been an integral part of childhood for those who grew up in the 90s. Arnold Schwarzenegger's futuristic film had everyone talking about it back when it first came out in 1984. The second part 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' - by far the best film in the franchise- became a cult classic.</p>

<p>Over the years, several films and even a TV series have tried to recreate the magic that the first two films created but none have been able to match the original. So when producer James Cameron, decided a reboot in 2019- it made sense to have the original cast of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton on board.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 'Terminator: Dark Fate', Schwarznegger is Cal, a domesticated man-machine, living a quiet life in a cottage in the woods with his family. He may still be a T-800, an android, but he now has some emotional attachments. He does household chores, lives a happy, peaceful life and sneakily keeps track of all the AI activities happening around the world.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, in Mexico, the Skynet sends a Rev-9 to kill Dani who is eventually saved by a humanoid called Grace and Sara Connor. Yes, Connor is still around and in the grief of her son's death which happened 28 years back, Connor is now a fugitive, who gets anonymous tip-offs about infiltrations from the future and once such message leads her to Mexico to save Dani. Grace and Sara save Dani but they have to be on the run as Rev-9 is still on the loose and the shape-shifting machine is difficult to kill, for obvious reasons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film entirely concentrates on the three women. A clueless Dani soon learns the ropes from her two protectors and learns that how her life is precious as she, in the future, will raise an army against the machines under Skynet's regime, which they obviously do not want and hence want her killed now itself.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As Sara meets T-800, old wounds resurface as she is reminded of how her son John was killed by the Terminator in 'Judgement Day' but they now have to work together to eradicate Rev-9.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lots of mind-numbing action sequences, unending chase sequences, and a very jaded storyline make the rest of the film.&nbsp;</p>

Sure, 'Dark Fate' tries to incorporate modern-day machines like mobile phones and GPS tracking devices into the narrative- but the overall experience is not exciting anymore. The action sequences numb your sensibilities after a point, they do not give an adrenaline rush.&nbsp;</p>

<p>What works for the film though are the three women who take on the world together and fight menacing machines to protect their future. Hamilton, who is now well above 60, stuns in her aged, angsty avatar. A mother who has lost her son decades ago and since then gone rogue, Hamilton brings in the right emotions to her character Sara Cohen. Giving her company as half human-half robot Grace, actress Mackenzie Davis delivers a solid performance. She performs the stunts convincingly and looks apt in her role so does actress Natalia Reyes who plays the naive Dani who comes of age as she loses her entire family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The three women, though, cant salvage a repetitive plot. Filmmaker Tim Miller sticks to the old template and doesn't try to deliver anything that we haven't seen altogether. He tries to infuse some humour especially when Schwarznegger is introduced in the narrative. But the actor seems jaded himself, perhaps being too aware of the predictability of the plot.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In several previous installments, Schwarzenneger would declare 'I'll be back' in the end but after 'Dark Fate', perhaps he should bid farewell to the beloved character. Unless the makers can think a little out of the box for the next one, it is best to put the franchise and T-800 &nbsp;to rest.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Spilling the beans on his 1984 film 'The Terminator', actor Arnold Schwarzenegger disclosed that the film had a very small budget and the cast used to perform stunts without permits.<br />

"It was a small budget movie, it was an independent movie with $6.5 million and we had to do certain shots in Hollywood without permits," the news agency quoted the actor as saying.<br />

The couple also had a bridal shower at Maria Shriver`s home in April which was also kept an intimate affair.</p>

<p>"I have to say that you have a little bit of a blind spot. And that is, every time you talk about America you're right when you say that our leadership in Washington is a little bit backwards, but you're wrong when you say that America dropped out of the Paris Agreement,"&nbsp; Schwarzenegger said.</p>

<p>"Because if you look a little bit beyond Washington you will see that it is the states and the cities, its local governments that control seventy per cent of our emissions. And you will see all the extraordinary work that is going on at a state and city level in America. So, the states and the cities are still in. In the Paris Agreement, our financial institutions are in, our academic institutions are still in, the governors and the mayors are still in. The United States is still in. And we're doing an extraordinary job there at staying in. Yes we have a meshugge leader in Washington, that is not in, that is out. But remember, America is more than just Washington and one leader," he added.</p>

<p>President Trump announced his decision to withdraw from the Paris deal in 2017, saying the accord would have cost America trillions of dollars, killed jobs, and hindered the oil, gas, coal and manufacturing industries.</p>

<p>The International Olympic Committee&rsquo;s (IOC&rsquo;s) decision to ban Russia from the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang for its &ldquo;unprecedented attack on the integrity of the Olympic Games and sport&rdquo; proves that you can&rsquo;t keep politics out of the sport. This is arguably the most overt expression of political intervention in the sport in history &mdash; and the history of political involvement in sport is as long as the history of organised sports itself. Despite the flat denials of IOC President Thomas Bach, it is not possible to disentangle the decision to ban Russia from the other issues that have turned the nation into the world&rsquo;s pariah.</p>

<p>Russia has been accused of interfering with the 2016 American presidential election, which US intelligence has determined was conducted to help Trump. Allegations that the Kremlin was involved in the UK&rsquo;s 2016 Brexit referendum campaign are being taken seriously by almost everyone in Britain, including its prime minister. It&rsquo;s been reported that a hacking team known as Fancy Bears &mdash; with links to Russia&rsquo;s secret service &mdash; broke into the World Anti-Doping Agency&rsquo;s (WADA) database and published medical records of numerous high-profile athletes &mdash; including Australians, Americans and Brits. Cumulatively, these unsupported claims have made it possible for us to believe that Russians are capable of deeds that would make the Borgias envious.</p>

<p>The IOC ban represents a perversion of natural justice, penalising athletes, many of whom, as far as we know, have not used illegal doping and have not recorded positive tests. If the makeshift &ldquo;Olympic Athlete from Russia&rdquo; (OAR) designation is designed to placate observers who think the ban unjustifiable, it will not work. The exemption offered to athletes who can somehow prove they are clean and wish to compete, not as Russians, but as neutral participants, is inadequate; they will be under intolerable pressure not to compete without the imprimatur of Russia. This is rough justice.</p>

<p><strong>Singled out</strong></p>

<p>Russia&rsquo;s &ldquo;state-sponsored doping&rdquo; program was identified by Canadian law professor Richard McLaren, who said that he had found &ldquo;a cover-up that operated on an unprecedented scale&rdquo; in Russia. Much of McLaren&rsquo;s evidence emerged from the testimony of Grigory Rodchenkov, a former Moscow anti-doping laboratory director who turned whistleblower and defected to North America (hardly an objective source).</p>

<p>McLaren also said that he had also been able to confirm that urine samples, which had been taken from Russian athletes at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and at other major championships, had been exchanged for clean urine by using small metal rods to break open the supposedly tamper-proof bottles. They were carried out by Russia&rsquo;s state security service, it was alleged.</p>

<p>There&rsquo;s been an unquestioning acceptance of McLaren&rsquo;s finding without much probing. Apart from Rodchenkov&rsquo;s statements, the other evidence appears inferential and largely uncorroborated. In another social climate in a different era, McLaren&rsquo;s report would have met with scepticism or, at very least, a demand for proof. Not today.</p>

<p>Let me provide further context to the doping allegations. Russia is far from being the only place in the world where athletes use doping, of course. In fact, the challenge is to find anywhere where performance-enhancing drugs are not habitually used by athletes from across the whole spectrum of sports. Unsurprisingly, with a population of nearly 145 million, Russia was the biggest offender in 2016. Russian athletes generated 148 anti-doping rule violations, followed by Italy with 123, India with 96, then Belgium and France, both 91. Turkey, Australia and China are also in the top 10 offenders.</p>

<p>Five countries, including distance-running powerhouses Kenya and Ethiopia, have been placed on a doping watch list, meaning they are being closely watched because of evidence that has surfaced about less-than-robust anti-doping procedures in those countries. Jamaica has also been under increased scrutiny by the International Association of Athletics Federations.</p>

<p><strong>Big business</strong></p>

<p>So why has Russia been singled out? Obviously, the global political atmosphere has made it easier to make even the wildest accusations sound plausible. But then again, why does sport wish to make such a colossal spectacle of laundering its own dirty linen? This is where the political intrigue takes on a commercial character.</p>

<p>Sport today is, as everyone realises, not simply business, but a globally gigantic business. The media have ensured that every major sports event in the world is broadcast extensively. Advertisers realise the enormous potential of sport for drawing consumers to their television sets, smartphones and iPads. So do sponsors, such as Coca-Cola, Toyota, Samsung, McDonalds and Visa, who with other &ldquo;partners&rdquo; (as sport prefers to call its benefactors) pay handsomely to have their brand publicly associated with the sport. I write &ldquo;ultimately,&rdquo; though there is no way of knowing when this case will end. On December 6, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said it had registered appeals by 22 Russian athletes against their disqualifications from the 2014 Sochi Olympics for doping. It&rsquo;s conceivable &mdash; though probably not likely &mdash; that the court will, during its deliberations, solicit so far undisclosed evidence from McLaren. The geopolitical climate militates against this solicitation, of course.</p>

<p>More likely is that the court will turn down the appeals; since there is no further right of appeal. The games begin in February 2018 and Russia, one of the world&rsquo;s forces in winter sports, will not be there. It will be like a Terminator movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger.</p>

<p>It doesn&rsquo;t require cynicism to detect a miscarriage of justice: Just an analytical perspective on a case that is surely the most glaring example of the intrusion of politics into sport. Russia, to use a phrase of today, has been thrown under the bus.</p>

Winter Olympics without Russia will be like a Terminator movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger

The International Olympic Committee’s (IOC’s) decision to ban Russia from the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang for its “unprecedented attack on the integrity of the Olympic Games and sport” proves that you can’t keep politics out of the sport. This is arguably the most overt expression of political intervention in the sport in history — and the history of political involvement in sport is as long as the history of organised sports itself. Despite the flat denials of IOC President Thomas Bach, it is not possible to disentangle the decision to ban Russia from the other issues that have turned the nation into the world’s pariah. Russia has been accused of interfering with the 2016 American presidential election, which US intelligence has determined was conducted to help Trump. Allegations that the Kremlin was involved in the UK’s 2016 Brexit referendum campaign are being taken seriously by almost everyone in Britain, including its prime minister. It’s been reported that a hacking team known as Fancy Bears — with links to Russia’s secret service — broke into the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) database and published medical records of numerous high-profile athletes — including Australians, Americans and Brits. Cumulatively, these unsupported claims have made it possible for us to believe that Russians are capable of deeds that would make the Borgias envious. The IOC ban represents a perversion of natural justice, penalising athletes, many of whom, as far as we know, have not used illegal doping and have not recorded positive tests. If the makeshift “Olympic Athlete from Russia” (OAR) designation is designed to placate observers who think the ban unjustifiable, it will not work. The exemption offered to athletes who can somehow prove they are clean and wish to compete, not as Russians, but as neutral participants, is inadequate; they will be under intolerable pressure not to compete without the imprimatur of Russia. This is rough justice. Singled out Russia’s “state-sponsored doping” program was identified by Canadian law professor Richard McLaren, who said that he had found “a cover-up that operated on an unprecedented scale” in Russia. Much of McLaren’s evidence emerged from the testimony of Grigory Rodchenkov, a former Moscow anti-doping laboratory director who turned whistleblower and defected to North America (hardly an objective source). McLaren also said that he had also been able to confirm that urine samples, which had been taken from Russian athletes at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and at other major championships, had been exchanged for clean urine by using small metal rods to break open the supposedly tamper-proof bottles. They were carried out by Russia’s state security service, it was alleged. There’s been an unquestioning acceptance of McLaren’s finding without much probing. Apart from Rodchenkov’s statements, the other evidence appears inferential and largely uncorroborated. In another social climate in a different era, McLaren’s report would have met with scepticism or, at very least, a demand for proof. Not today. Let me provide further context to the doping allegations. Russia is far from being the only place in the world where athletes use doping, of course. In fact, the challenge is to find anywhere where performance-enhancing drugs are not habitually used by athletes from across the whole spectrum of sports. Unsurprisingly, with a population of nearly 145 million, Russia was the biggest offender in 2016. Russian athletes generated 148 anti-doping rule violations, followed by Italy with 123, India with 96, then Belgium and France, both 91. Turkey, Australia and China are also in the top 10 offenders. Five countries, including distance-running powerhouses Kenya and Ethiopia, have been placed on a doping watch list, meaning they are being closely watched because of evidence that has surfaced about less-than-robust anti-doping procedures in those countries. Jamaica has also been under increased scrutiny by the International Association of Athletics Federations. Big business So why has Russia been singled out? Obviously, the global political atmosphere has made it easier to make even the wildest accusations sound plausible. But then again, why does sport wish to make such a colossal spectacle of laundering its own dirty linen? This is where the political intrigue takes on a commercial character. Sport today is, as everyone realises, not simply business, but a globally gigantic business. The media have ensured that every major sports event in the world is broadcast extensively. Advertisers realise the enormous potential of sport for drawing consumers to their television sets, smartphones and iPads. So do sponsors, such as Coca-Cola, Toyota, Samsung, McDonalds and Visa, who with other “partners” (as sport prefers to call its benefactors) pay handsomely to have their brand publicly associated with the sport.
