“Mayank is someone who has shown he can absorb pressure and bowl consistently at a good line, and he has already troubled the best of the lot with his pace,” Prasad told RevSportz.

“If they (batters) are not able to bring the bat down against the pace he has been generating, I think he will be handy. Naqvi also said that this committee was formed to select the men’s national team for the international tours while confirming his non-interference in related matters.&nbsp;

"I have mandated the seven-member selection committee, consisting of four former Test players, with the powers to select the national men's teams for international cricket. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed former Pakistan seamer Aaqib Javed as their new fast-bowling coach till the conclusion of the 2024 T20 World Cup in June (to be held in the Caribbean and the USA), the board announced in a statement on Saturday (March 16). Javed will depart for the Island Nation next week.

"Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the appointment of former Pakistan pace bowler Aaqib Javed as the national team's fast-bowling coach," an SLC statement said. "He will work with the national team until the completion of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup."

A new-ball bowler during his time, Javed has served as Pakistan's bowling coach before, guiding them to their maiden T20 World Cup title in England in 2009. While the next ODI World Cup is four years away, the 2025 Champions Trophy in February-March would be the 50-over event the BCCI would set its eyes on after what transpired in the home World Cup final in Ahmedabad. &nbsp;

"Dravid and his support staff have been asked to focus on the T20 World Cup as of now. The priority is to win that tournament in the US and Caribbean. The long-term planning can wait. Things will be taken forward from there. Their services will be on a pro-rata business as of now till modalities are formalised," a BCCI source told Times of India (TOI).

Following the conclusion of the 2023 World Cup, contracts were expiring for coaching staff of Rahul Dravid (head coach), Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach), Vikram Rathour (batting coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach). "Having won 10 consecutive games before the final, our World Cup campaign was nothing short of extraordinary, and the head coach deserves appreciation for setting up the right platform," Shah added.&nbsp;
