Justin Timberlake DWI arrest: Singer claimed he had only one martini 

American singer-actor Justin Timberlake reportedly refused a breathalyzer test in the early hours of June 18 after failing to make a stop and stay in his lane while driving down Madison Street in the Hamptons.

According to the police, when Timberlake was pulled up, he "performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests."

Timberlake, 43, claimed that he had one martini and was following some friends home, according to the police documents.

After being arrested and taken to a police station in nearby East Hampton, he refused a breath test, according to the court papers, which listed his occupation as "professional" and"self-employed."

The document further stated that the singer had "bloodshot and glossy" eyes, a "strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath" and he was "unable to divide attention."

The singer also exhibited "slowed speech" and was "unsteady afoot."

Timberlake's refusal of a breathalyzer test could "complicate" his legal proceedings, a legal expert has stated.

"It's not uncommon for individuals arrested on suspicion of DWI to refuse a breathalyzer test," said Tray Gober to Fox News.

Gober is a Texas trial attorney who deals with DWI cases.

"This decision can be motivated by various factors, including prior advice from legal counsel or a misunderstanding of the legal implications," Gober said.

"Typically, such refusal triggers an automatic suspension of a driver’s license under implied consent laws, which state that drivers implicitly consent to sobriety tests when they obtain their licenses," he added.

"Additionally, the refusal can be introduced in court as evidence of guilt, although the implications of this can vary significantly between jurisdictions and judges. The prosecution might argue that the refusal indicates the suspect's awareness of their likely intoxication."

Justin Timberlake was arrested for drunk driving after he refused to take a breath analyser test during a police stop.

He was arrested for DWI in New York after he “performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests” according to the police.

What’s funny in this episode though is that the officer who pulled him was “so young” that he didn’t recognise him by his face or name.

The officer didn’t know who Justin Timberlake was.

Also, it's being reported that Justin told the officer, “This is going to ruin the tour”, to which the officer replied, “What tour?” and Justin answered, “World tour”.

Hours later, Timberlake was seen leaving the police station keeping a low profile in a black baseball cap and sunglasses, along with a grey T-shirt, black jacket and blue jeans.
