<p>Popular social media platform, Meta-owned Instagram, suffered a massive outage Tuesday (July 25) globally, a record third time in a month. Reports said more than 50,000 users faced problems while accessing several features on Instagram.</p>

<p>Several users took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustration and wrote that they were unable to upload images on the social media platform.</p>

<p>The outage was not limited to a particular server or region. Meta is yet to disclose what caused the outage.</p>

<p>Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Monday (July 24) made it clear to China that the “strategic trust” between the two nations had been eroded following the 2020 border conflict.</p>

<p>His remarks came during a meeting with Chinese special representative Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Friends of BRICS meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa.</p>

<p>The prevailing tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the de-facto border between India and China, dominated the talks. The meeting came 10 days after Wang Yi met India’s Minister of External Affairs (MEA) S Jaishankar on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Indonesia’s Jakarta.</p>

<p>A press release issued by the Indian MEA after the meeting noted the Indian NSA conveyed that the situation on the Indo-China border “had eroded strategic trust and the public and political basis of the relationship”.</p>

<p>“NSA emphasised the importance of continuing efforts to fully resolve the situation and restore peace and tranquility in the border areas, so as to remove impediments to normalcy in bilateral relations. The two sides agreed that the India-China bilateral relationship is significant not only for the two countries but also for the region and world,” read the press release.</p>

<h2><strong>A meeting between Xi and Modi that never took place</strong></h2>

<p>Interestingly, a readout released by the Chinese foreign ministry mentioned how Wang Yi reminded the Indian side of the consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2022 G20 summit held in Bali.</p>

<p>“President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi reached an important consensus on stabilising China-India relations in Bali,” the readout said.</p>

<p>Local media quoted some passengers of the bus as saying that the bus driver was not attentive while he drove. “I was sitting just beside the driver’s seat. The driver apparently was not careful or attentive while driving the bus,” said Russell Mollah, a 35-year-old passenger. He alleged that the driver was constantly talking to his assistant and that he asked him to get more passengers on board.</p>

<p>Mollah reportedly lost his father in the accident, while his elder brother was still missing.</p>

<p>The car show was held at the city’s Schützenplatz, an area designated for fairs and other community events of some 25 acres, DW reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Police said they were called to the area after reports of a car driving into the audience in an uncontrolled manner. Police on Twitter informed a large operation was being carried out at the incident site.</p>

<h2><strong>No terror link</strong></h2>

<p>After a preliminary investigation, police said a defect in the vehicle could have caused the “accident”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dennis Schmitt, a spokesperson for the police, confirmed the authorities didn’t find any terror connection and that the vehicle was impounded immediately for further investigation.</p>

<p>The police didn’t identify the car but a local newspaper quoted an eyewitness as claiming that it was a dark green Ford Mustang.</p>

<p>Local media also reported how the driver of the car made efforts to apply brakes and pull out the key to stop the car, but to no avail.</p>

<p>The eyewitness also claimed that the driver was in utter shock when he came out of the car after hitting the victims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some victims were reportedly tossed several metres away. Local media quoted another eyewitness as saying that the tyres on the vehicle spun as it suddenly accelerated before it pulled to the left and into the crowd.</p>
