Boebert's &nbsp;take on abortion

The US Congresswoman said that she is completely against "abortion." She went on to explain that although the pregnancy rate throughout the country is the same, the rate of abortion is high in urban areas, while the number of teen moms is much higher in rural areas.&nbsp;

She said that the rural conservative communities are special because their teenage girls who become pregnant tend to "value life" and the preciousness of life that is about to be born.&nbsp;

This big announcement comes days after the woman leader received criticism for speaking against funding "comprehensive sex education " in public schools during a Conservative Political Action Conference event.&nbsp;

As its deposits grew, it failed to generate its loan book fast enough to generate the yield it wanted to see on the deposited capital. To tackle this, the bank purchased a large mortgage-backed security (MBS) worth $80 billion for its hold-to-maturity (HTM) portfolio. Over 95 per cent of these MBS were for over 10 years, with an average yield of 1.56 per cent.&nbsp;

However, with the rise in Fed rates, the value of SVB's MBS decreased, as the customers could buy "risk free" bonds from the Fed at a 2.5x higher yield, meaning,&nbsp;with the rising value of the Fed, the value of existing bonds fell.&nbsp;

Who are the SVB's clients?

The United States' leading lender is deeply connected to startups, as its focuses on trade in Silicon Valley and tech startups only.&nbsp;

As per the bank's website, it does business with over 50 per cent of all US venture capital-backed startups and almost 45 per cent of US venture-backed tech and healthcare companies.

The SVB announced that it had sold $21 billion of its Available For Sale (AFS) securities at a $1.8 billion loss and was raising another $2.5 billion in equity and debt.&nbsp;

This came as a surprise for its investors, who thought that the bank won't sell its AFS securities. Prominent venture capitalists advised businesses and startups to withdraw their money from the bank.&nbsp;

According to Bloomberg, a high-profile VC firm, Founders Fund, asked its portfolio companies to move their money. Union Square Ventures and Founder Collective also advised their portfolio companies to pull their funds from the bank.&nbsp;

As per experts, the amounts were much higher than what was anticipated and the rate of plastic entering the oceans can increase severely in the coming years if left unchecked.&nbsp;

Ocean plastic pollution is a persistent problem across the globe which makes animals consume plastics, which eventually is consumed by humans.&nbsp;

For this, researchers took plastic samples from more than 11,000 stations around the world mainly focusing on a 40-year period between 1979 and 2019. The researchers claimed that the sources of pollution are numerous.&nbsp;

In 1950, only two million tonnes of plastic waste was there.

The study examined samples from the North Atlantic, the South Atlantic, the North Pacific, the South Pacific, and the Indian and Mediterranean oceans.

The research was produced by Economist Impact and The Nippon Foundation.&nbsp;

Lisa Erdle, one of the contributing authors told AFP, "we see a really rapid increase since 2005 because there is a rapid increase in production and also a limited number of policies that are controlling the release of plastic into the ocean."

According to the report, as per current trends, plastic use will nearly get double from 2019 across the G20 countries by 2050 by reaching 451 million tonnes each year.

This prompted the president to plan for a new capital, which he wants&nbsp;to establish as the city of 'Nusantara,' that will allow the construction of government buildings and housing from scratch.&nbsp;

According to AP, at least five villages with over 100 Balik people are relocating because of the construction.&nbsp;

Till now, no status regarding the protection of the remaining natural forests in the new capital has been mentioned.

"My theory is they made a mistake and are now looking for anything they can find to make this a "for cause" firing to avoid having to fulfil their contractual obligations," he said.

Elon Musk apologises to sacked Twitter employee after online exchange

On Tuesday, a rescue official said more rescuers and heavy machinery will be sent to Indonesia’s landslide-hit Serasan Island to search for dozens of victims who are still missing. The deadly landslide struck Serasan on Monday in the remote Natuna region between Borneo and peninsular Malaysia, AFP reported.

According to Abdul Muhari, a spokesperson for the national disaster mitigation agency (BNPB), till now&nbsp;rescuers have managed to recover 11 bodies, but the village puts the death toll to 15. He added around 47 people are still missing, while around 1,200 people have been asked to seek shelter because of the disaster.

Officials have claimed that poor weather and downed communication lines have complicated rescue efforts on the island.

Heavy rain in the region has forced intermittent pauses in the rescue operation. Currently, the rescuers are focusing their efforts on the road near a cliff where almost 30 houses were reportedly buried due to the landslide.

Indonesia is quite susceptible to landslides during the rainy season and aggravated in some places by deforestation and prolonged torrential rain which caused flooding in different areas of the country.

According to Abdul Muhari, a spokesperson for the national disaster mitigation agency (BNPB), till now rescuers have managed to recover 11 bodies, but the village puts the death toll to 15. He added around 47 people are still missing, while around 1,200 people have been asked to seek shelter because of the disaster. He said, "six (bodies) have been identified, while four are still being identified."
