United States Vice President Kamala Harris weighed in on how the nation is being made weaker by the anti-democratic forces that have apparently emerged in the mainstream of American politics. As per Harris, such forces are also undermining the legitimacy of the country overseas. She described it as a major threat.&nbsp;

During an interview that was aired on Sunday on NBC News' "Meet the Press", Harris was asked a question related to the tragic 9/11 tragedy.&nbsp;

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people were killed when hijacked jetliners crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.&nbsp;

The US vice president was asked whether the threats from within the United States pose a risk equal to or greater than what the nation faced 21 years ago on 9/11.&nbsp;

During the interview, Harris noted the oaths of the office she had taken as a prosecutor, California's attorney general, a senator and vice president to uphold the Constitution "against all enemies, foreign and domestic — and we don’t compare the two."&nbsp;

She said, "It is very dangerous and, I think, very harmful. And it makes us weaker."&nbsp;

She added, "I think what it sends is a signal that causes people to question, 'Hey, is America still valuing what they talk about?'. I think that through the process of what we’ve been through, we’re starting to allow people to call into question our commitment to those principles. And that's a shame."&nbsp;

Israel’s defence minister Benny Gantz on Monday (September 12) claimed that Iran is converting Syrian military sites into missile factories. Gantz added that Iran would be able to produce enough enriched uranium to make three nuclear warheads within a few weeks.&nbsp;

With the help of a map, Gantz detailed all 10 facilities in Syria that are allegedly being used to arm Iran and its proxies, including Hezbollah.&nbsp;

He said that Iran has used more than 10 military facilities in Syria to produce advanced missiles and weapons.&nbsp;

"Iran is building terror industries in Syria for its needs. Recently it started building advanced industries in Yemen and Lebanon as well. This trend must be stopped," Gantz said in New York while speaking at a conference.&nbsp;

While presenting the map, Gantz said they were military sites of the Centre D'Etudes et de Recherches Scientifiques (CERS), that is a Syrian government agency, involved in manufacturing missiles and weapons for Iran.&nbsp;

"Iran transformed CERS into production facilities for mid and long-range, precise missiles and weapons, provided to Hezbollah and Iranian proxies. In other words, it became yet another Iranian front – a factory for advanced, strategic weapons," Gantz said.&nbsp;

Notably, Israel has been increasing attacks on allegedly Iranian-linked targets in Syria for many years now.&nbsp;

Israeli strikes have repeatedly targeted the Masyaf area, a zone in the western Hama district where Gantz said an underground weapons production facility threatens Israel and the region.&nbsp;

He said, "Masyaf, specifically, is used to produce advanced missiles."&nbsp;

So far, there have been no official comments from Iran and Syria related to the claims made by Gantz.&nbsp;

Concerns have been raised after the public health agency of the United States issued a warning over the spread of a common childhood virus that can apparently cause muscle weakness or paralysis in rare cases. In the warning issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday about enterovirus D68, it is mentioned that it commonly leads to respiratory illness among children. CDC said that the symptoms are often mild but can become severe. The public health body also explained that the enterovirus family is large, and polio falls within it. Notably, both EV-D68 and poliovirus can invade the nervous system and cause muscle weakness. ALSO READ | Walking 10,000 steps per day reduces risk of dementia, cancer, and mortality: Study In August 2022, healthcare providers and hospitals in several regions of the country were about notified about the increases in hospitalisations among kids. In some cases, there were symptoms of severe respiratory illness who also tested positive for rhinovirus (RV) and/or enterovirus (EV). CDC's statement said that RVs and EVs can have "clinically similar presentations and are indistinguishable from one another on multiplex assays often used in clinical settings". ALSO READ | Can monkeypox cause neurological and psychiatric problems in some patients? Serious neurologic complication CDC also informed that the EV-D68 can sometimes cause acute flaccid myelitis (AFM), which is a rare but serious neurologic complication involving limb weakness. It is said that 100 per cent recovery from AFM is rare. The process is quite difficult, but most patients improve to some extent. In a report by NBC, it is said that the CDC this year has identified more EV-D68 cases among children with severe respiratory illness than in the past three years combined. As quoted by NBC news, Dr Sarah Hopkins, a pediatric neurologist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, said: "We really thought this was going to happen in 2020, because we had the last spike in 2018. But then with mask-wearing and social distancing and all those things that limit the spread of a respiratory virus, we didn't have that expected spike." The warning has been issued to notify healthcare providers, laboratories, infection control specialists and public health departments about recent increases in severe respiratory illness. Also to urge the healthcare providers to consider EV-D68 as a possible cause of acute, severe respiratory illness (with or without fever) in children. James Webb Space Telescope has released a stunning photo of another spectacle of the universe. Astronomers are awestruck after seeing the first images of the Orion Nebula that were released by an international research team on Monday (September 12).&nbsp;

The Orion Nebula is approximately 1,344 light years away from earth. It is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way, south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky.&nbsp;

The Orion Nebula is in a similar setting in which our own solar system was birthed more than 4.5 billion years ago. Its age is over three million years.&nbsp;

Hence, the observation is significant as it paves the way to understanding the entire cycle of star birth.&nbsp;

After the latest observation, astronomers want to probe the region to better understand what happened during the first million years of our planetary evolution.&nbsp;

Images of the Orion Nebula were obtained as part of the Early Release Science programme. It involved more than 100 scientists in 18 countries.&nbsp;

Western University astrophysicist Els Peeters said in a statement: "We are blown away by the breathtaking images of the Orion Nebula. These new observations allow us to better understand how massive stars transform the gas and dust cloud in which they are born."&nbsp;

James Webb telescope captures 'breathtaking' images of Orion Nebula. Here's why it is significant

Experts raised concerns when multiple outbreaks of monkeypox cases were reported across the world in the last few months. The monkeypox cases have been primarily reported among gay and bisexual men. The virus causes skin rashes, painful skin lesions and flu-like symptoms.&nbsp;

<meta name="uuid" content="uuid91NMDade0pVr" /><meta charset="utf-8" />

Now, some experts are probing how the virus has caused neurological and psychiatric problems in those who have been infected.&nbsp;

A report published in Science Alert claims to look at all the evidence from before the current monkeypox pandemic of neurological or psychiatric problems in people with a monkeypox infection. The results are published in the journal eClinicalMedicine.&nbsp;

The study noted that a small but small proportion of infected people (2 to 3 per cent) became very unwell and developed serious neurological problems. The issues included seizure and encephalitis.&nbsp;

Apart from the severe and rare brain problem, experts have also found some evidence of a group of people with monkeypox who had more common neurological symptoms including headache, muscle ache, and fatigue.&nbsp;

In-depth analysis and further investigation are needed to understand the issue. So far, the research is unclear on how severe these symptoms were and how long they lasted. Also, a further probe&nbsp;is needed to know how many people with monkeypox had psychiatric problems, such as anxiety and depression.&nbsp;

There's a lack of certainty but the experts did find some cases where people with monkeypox infection can have neuropsychiatric symptoms. Notably, future research exploring this will need to follow up with people with no neuropsychiatric conditions before becoming infected with the disease.&nbsp;

Another study published in the&nbsp;New England Journal of Medicine,&nbsp;stated that over 500 people with monkeypox from 16 countries in the current outbreak.&nbsp;

Recently, two cases of monkeypox were reported and they confirmed encephalitis in Spain. However, the report clearly mentions that further study is needed to determine to what extent monkeypox is causing more serious problems like encephalitis and seizure.&nbsp;
