If we have to achieve success in life, we must follow these five laws by successful people.

Kidlin's Law: If you write your problem clearly, you have solved half of it. This law is based on a fictional character in a novel by James Clavell.

It states: "If you can write the problem down clearly, then the matter is half solved."

Murphy's Law: The law by Edward A Murphy Jr (1918-1990) states that the more you fear something, the more it is likely to occur.

It states: "If there is more than one possibility to accomplish a task and one of these possibilities will have unintended consequences or disaster, surely that possibility will come true."

Gilbert's Law: It was given by Gilbert Lafayette Laws (1838-1907). It says when you take on a task, it is your responsibility to find the best ways to achieve the desired result.

It states: "The biggest problem with a job is that no one tells you what to do."

Wilson's Law: If you prioritise knowledge and intelligence, money will follow. These lines were said by ex-US president Woodrow Wilson during his US Congress speech on Jan 8, 1918.

Falkland's Law: This law states that if you don't have to make a decision, don't make a decision. While doing so, we create space within ourselves to focus on what truly matters.

It states: "Postpone decision-making and don't think about it if it's not needed right now."

Digital Poverty: How we can escape being digitally poor?

The world is moving onto online platforms across all sectors leading to massive growth in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry.

The internet was once a luxury, but now it has become an essential utility. Global spending on ICTs is increasing in new technologies like robotics, 3D Printing, Augmented and Virtual Reality.

Technology has been rapidly increasing and continues to advance but many countries still don't have access to the latest technology. This digital divide between the rich and poor is widening, causing DIGITAL POVERTY.

ICT is used for various forms of communications, such as broadcast media, telecommunications and intelligent building management systems. These forms of technology range from expensive smartphones to smart TVs with cable networks, and gadgets.

Digital poverty simply means a lack of ICTs and might be a feature of any population segment, whether or not economically poor.

People without access to ICT don't have access to items online, digital information, or digital participation. The cycle of digital poverty is continuing.

The issues can be tackled by spreading awareness and using alternative technologies, such as wireless and satellite, in order to bring fast internet to areas that are the most hard to reach geographically.

6 Ways to Reduce Electronic Waste (E-Waste)

Electronic waste (E-waste) refers to waste or obsolete electronic gadgets. Every year, tons of e-waste is generated across the world and if not recycled correctly, it can harm the air, soil, and water, which will have disastrous affects on both people and animals.

1. Instead of throwing away working electronic gadgets, sell or donate them. Electronic equipment contains hazardous compounds which if not properly disposed of, can harm the environment.

2. New electronic appliances and gadgets are always appealing, but sometimes, we must consider purchasing refurbished or used electrical items, which have been examined, cleaned, and returned to full working order.

3. No need to buy everything, there’s an urgent need to embrace a minimalist approach to electronics by resisting unnecessary purchases of gadgets and accessories.

4. Are you thinking of purchasing a new portable hard drive to replace an outdated one? Consider using cloud storage instead of adding more e-waste.

5. If you have any faulty or obsolete gadgets, consider fixing and updating them, instead of throwing them away.

6. Before buying electronic items, read the instructions well and always buy energy-star rated electronics as these are more energy efficient than standard appliances, which means they use less energy and generate less electrical waste.

Here are six ways to reduce electronic waste (E-Waste).

What is forest bathing? A kind of practice we all must follow in life

Forest bathing is a term that emerged in Japan in the 1980s. It was a physiological and psychological exercise called 'shinrin-yoku'

It is called either "forest bathing" or "taking in the forest atmosphere".

Forest bathing is a type of ecotherapy that was immediately adopted by the Japanese.

After it became a popular practice, researchers started examining the physiological benefits of forest bathing in the 1990s. They said that spending time in nature is healthy.

Forest bathing is not just for nature lovers; it may be as simple as going into any natural setting and interacting with what's around you.

It is popular in Japan, but the concept is followed in different parts of the world.

Pro-Palestinian rally in London

On Saturday, protesters gathered in central London ahead of a pro-Palestinian march expected to attract hundreds of thousands of people. The police have launched a major operation due to fears of clashes on the day of remembrance for war veterans.

The "National March for Palestine" was the latest in a series of rallies in the British capital to show support for the Palestinians since Israel launched an air and ground offensive on the Gaza Strip following the Hamas Oct 7 attack on southern Israel.

The march was called off by government leaders because it fell on Armistice Day, which honours the conclusion of World War One and those who died in military action.

The prime minister even said that the timing of the rally was "provocative and disrespectful".

In a statement, he said: "It is because of those who fought for this country and for the freedom we cherish that those who wish to protest can do so, but they must do so respectfully and peacefully."

Scientists have found that some stars in our Milky Way galaxy are leaving and getting ejected into intergalactic space. They then spend the rest of their lives on an uncertain journey.

To understand this strange phenomenon, a group of astronomers examined the most massive of these runaway stars to see if they could figure out how they left, or why.

The astronomers concluded when they were analysing the velocity distribution, which is one of the ways they measure when they study a field of stars in the Milky Way.

Will Donald Trump use FBI against his rivals if he wins 2024 election? Here's what he said

Authorities in Iceland on Friday (Nov 10) declared a state of emergency after a series of powerful earthquakes rocked the country's southwestern Reykjanes peninsula. Experts believe that the recent quakes could be a precursor to a volcanic eruption.

The Icelandic Met Office (IMO) has detected more than 20,000 tremors since late Oct with 1,400 in the 24 hours to midday on Thursday as the quakes appear to increase.

The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management said in a statement: "The National police chief … declares a state of emergency for civil defence due to the intense earthquake (activity) at Sundhnjukagigar, north of Grindavik."

Also read: Global warming has upped Greenland glacier melting five-folds in 20 years

The administration further warned that an eruption could take place "in several days" as it said that "earthquakes can become larger than those that have occurred and this series of events could lead to an eruption".

The Department of Civil Protection also said it was sending the patrol vessel Thor to the village of Grindavik, home to around 4,000 people and located some three kilometres southwest of the area where Friday's earthquake swarm was registered, "for security purposes".

The local authorities have also come up with evacuation plans in case of an eruption and the police closed a road running north-south to Grindavik on Friday after it was damaged by the tremors.

Two powerful earthquakes were felt as far away as Reykjavik, Iceland's capital and along much of the country's southern coast around 1730 GMT. The IMO officials have said that the preliminary figures suggest that the biggest tremor had a magnitude of 5.2, north of Grindavik.

The IMO said that there is an accumulation of magma is underground at a depth of about five kilometres and if it starts moving towards the surface it could lead to a volcanic eruption.

"The most likely scenario is that it will take several days rather than hours for magma to reach the surface," it said.

"If a fissure were to appear where the seismic activity is at its highest now, lava would flow to the southeast and to the west, but not towards Grindavik."

Volcanoes in Iceland

Three eruptions have occurred on the Reykjanes peninsula since 2021, in March 2021, August 2022, and July 2023. These three eruptions were in remote places with no infrastructure or people.

Overall, Iceland has 33 active volcanic systems, which is the highest number in Europe. The North Atlantic island straddles the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a crack in the ocean floor separating the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

Prior to the March 2021 eruption in an uninhabited area around Mount Fagradalsfjall, the Reykjanes volcanic system had remained dormant for eight centuries.

But now, volcanologists believe the new cycle of increased activity could last for several decades or centuries.

A huge eruption at another Iceland volcano, Eyjafjallajokull in the south of the island, in April 2010, forced the cancellation of 100,000 flights, stranding more than 10 million people.

The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management said in a statement: "The National police chief … declares a state of emergency for civil defence due to the intense earthquake (activity) at Sundhnjukagigar, north of Grindavik." Also read: Global warming has upped Greenland glacier melting five-folds in 20 years The administration further warned that an eruption could take place "in several days" as it said that "earthquakes can become larger than those that have occurred and this series of events could lead to an eruption". Also read: Rare discovery: Tumour with teeth found in 3,000-year-old Egyptian burial Two powerful earthquakes were felt as far away as Reykjavik, Iceland's capital and along much of the country's southern coast around 1730 GMT. "If a fissure were to appear where the seismic activity is at its highest now, lava would flow to the southeast and to the west, but not towards Grindavik." The surgeons in the United States have performed the world's first transplant of an entire eye in a procedure on a man. This has been hailed as a major breakthrough, but it's not sure the man will regain vision.

For years, surgeons have been able to transplant corneas successfully, but the latest surgery involved removing part of the face and the whole left eye, which included its blood supply and the optic nerve of a donor.

The surgeons then grafted them onto Aaron James, a lineworker from Arkansas who survived a 7,200-volt electric shock in June 2021.

The 46-year-old suffered extensive injuries, including the loss of his left eye, his dominant left arm above the elbow, his nose and lips, front teeth, left cheek area and chin.

James was referred to NYU Langone Health for facial transplants. The procedures were carried out by the hospital on May 27.

Previously, transplantation of an entire eye has been successful to some extent in animals, where they have restored partial vision. But it was never done before on a living person.

Meanwhile, the surgeons have revealed that James was recovering well from the dual transplant. They also said that the donated eye looked remarkably healthy.

Dr Eduardo Rodriguez, one of the leading surgeons on the team, said: "The mere fact that we've accomplished the first successful whole-eye transplant with a face is a tremendous feat many have long thought was not possible."

"We've made one major step forward and have paved the way for the next chapter to restore vision," Dr Rodriguez added.

Dr Rodriguez told ABC News "We're not claiming that we are going to restore sight. But there's no doubt in my mind we are one step closer".

"This is a huge deal," Kia Washington, a professor of surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, who has been working in the same field for 15 years, told AFP, commending her peers.

James had surgery in his left eye, and his right eye still works. In an interview, James said, "I can see out of it, that's great. But if it'll kick-start the next path in the medical field, then I'm all for it."
