The US slapped four Chinese Communist Party officials with sanctions including Chen Quangou - a member of China's powerful politburo. All four officials have been accused of human rights abuses against Uighur Muslims.

Washington is now calling upon the world to unite against the Chinese Communist Party. The ethnic minorities from China have published a report and have asked&nbsp;world bodies to put pressure on China and investigate the genocide against the Uighurs.

China on Friday rejected joining the nuclear arms limitations talks with the US declaring that the Trump administration was "neither serious nor sincere".

"China's objection to the so-called trilateral arms negotiation is very clear, and the US knows it very well. However, the US is persistent with the issue and even distorted China's position," foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing.

Zhao, however, said that the US needed to “create conditions for other nuclear-weapon states to participate in nuclear disarmament negotiations.”

The New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) nuclear pact is between Russia and the United States, but the Trump administration has insisted on China joining the talks. The treaty was signed between Russia and the United States in 2010 and came into force in &nbsp;February 2011. The treaty expires in February&nbsp;next year.

The New START treaty had replaced the Treaty of Moscow (SORT), which was to expire in 2012.

Zhao pointed out that the United States should respond to Russia's call to extend the New START treaty.&nbsp;

"The international community sees it clearly. The US can fool no one. We are urging the US to respond to Russian appeal to renew the New START Treaty and on that basis continue the further reduction of its large nuclear arsenal in order to create conditions for other nuclear powers to take part in the nuclear disarmament talks," Zhao asserted.

Earlier, Fu Cong, the head of China's foreign ministry’s department of arms control had said that his country was ready to join the disarmament talks only if the US reduced its nuclear arsenal to match China level.

A top IMF official has said that there is room for more fiscal support in India in the near term, particularly for vulnerable households and SMEs, given the severity of the country's economic situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vitor Gaspar, Director of the International Monetary Fund's Fiscal Affairs Department, told PTI that a complete and successful implementation of the existing support measures (in particular, food provision to households) is of paramount importance.

"Given the severity of the economic situation, in the near-term there is room for more fiscal support, particularly for vulnerable households and SMEs (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises),"&nbsp;he said.

Over the medium-term, India will continue to have a very limited fiscal space, and a credible and well-communicated consolidation plan will be urgently needed once the coronavirus pandemic subsides, Gasper said.

The economic impact of the COVID-19 in India has been substantial and broad-based, he said, adding that high frequency indicators point to a sharp decline in economic activity, as reflected in the industrial production, business sentiment (in the purchasing managers index), vehicle sales and trade.

In the June World Economic Outlook (WEO), growth in fiscal year 20/21 was revised down to -4.5 per cent, he said.

The downward revision compared with the April WEO was driven primarily by the continued rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in India.

According to Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, the contagion has infected over 12 million people and killed more than 554,000 across the world.

The US is the worst affected country with over 3.1 million cases and more than 1,33,000 deaths. India's COVID-19 caseload stands at 7,93,802 with 21,604 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Army today completed its withdrawal of troops from two more face-off sites in Gogra and Hot Springs in eastern Ladakh. Reports say that both countries have completed creating a buffer zone in Galwan Valley, Gogra and Hot Springs which was the scene of the clash between Chinese and Indian troops on June 15.

The latest disengagement moves come after talks between India's National security Advisor(NSA) Ajit Doval and China's foreign minister Wang Yi who had a two-hour long meeting amid tensions at the border.

On Thursday, India and Chinese troops had completed their disengagement with Chinese troops pulling back by approximately 2 kms from the Line of Control(LAC). Both sides also pulled back from Patrolling Point 15 in eastern Ladakh.

Indian officials had earlier said that China was amassing troops at the border since May. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian while backing the disengagement moves currently underway since Monday said that he hoped "India will work together &nbsp;to take concrete action and implement the consensus reached and jointly work for de-escalation along the border".
