<p>As per the Systems of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Mumbai’s air quality was at moderate levels reported at 132 AQI on Oct 21. But on Sunday, several regions of the city recorded AQI above 200, which is the “poor” category.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The city also saw its particulate matter (PM) at a four-year high for October, as well as temperature.</p>

<p>On Oct 21, Delhi’s average quality was reported at 248 and was forecast to fall into the “very poor” category (301-400) on October 23 and 24 due to unfavourable meteorological and climatic conditions. As per the predictions, the city’s AQI deteriorated on Sunday evening and stood at 306 on Monday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One of the main reasons for severe pollution in the national capital is stubble burning&nbsp;which is causing an influx of emissions. Also, due to scant rainfall in October and slow wind speed, the air quality has further worsened, stated IMD.&nbsp;</p>

Other causes are climate change, road dust and its displacement,&nbsp;open burning of solid waste and garbage,&nbsp;and industries that include those using Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants and casting yard plants.</p>

This 30-year-old American woman has no pulse and 'runs on batteries'

<p>Planet Nine, a hypothetical ninth planet in the outer region of the Solar System, has almost become impossible to trace by scientists and astronomers. Planet Nine is said to be somewhere beyond the orbit of Pluto and lies in a very dark and cold place in the Solar System, which makes it hard to detect.</p>

<p>In the past, scientists have given several reasons for this. One would be that no one has actually seen it yet and it’s only on the paper. Another is the real possibility that it is just not there. Or it might not be a single planet at all, but a swarm of rocks instead. But according to a recent research; it is more than all of that.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Also Read |&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/science/women-in-prehistoric-times-were-not-only-gatherers-but-hunters-too-study-650213">Hunting was not solely a man's arena in prehistoric times, women did it too, study suggests</a></p>

<h2><strong>Mystery of Planet Nine</strong></h2>

<p>New research conducted by physicists Katherine Brown of Hamilton College and Harsh Mathur of Case Western Reserve University deduced that there is something missing from our current model of gravity as described under the general relativity theory.</p>

<p>According to their recent study, the subtle abnormalities in the orbits of various objects some attribute to a hidden planet are also consistent with a different kind of gravitational model – one called Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND).</p>

<p>The flaws in Newton's law of universal gravitation were resolved by Einstein's theory of general relativity. MOND is an alternative solution that proposes other gravitational effects take over when Newtonian gravitational acceleration drops below a certain threshold.</p>

<p>Because MOND can describe the gravitational behaviour of galaxies that don't seem to be tied to normal matter – unexpected rotation curves and lensing effects – it's an attractive alternative to dark matter. But it hasn't really been studied on smaller scales.</p>

<p>"MOND is really good at explaining galactic-scale observations," Mathur says. "I hadn't expected that it would have noticeable effects on the outer Solar System."</p>

<p>Brown and Mathur thought that these clustering observations might not be compatible with MOND. They undertook an investigation, modelling the orbits of outer Solar System Kuiper Belt objects under MOND to observe how they behave.</p>

<p>Surprisingly, what they ended up with was a bunch of rocks behaving pretty much exactly like the observed clustering. Their calculations suggest under MOND theory, some of the objects in the outer Solar System should be dragged into alignment with the gravitational field of the Milky Way galaxy over time.</p>

<p>It's not enough to confidently assert that MOND is responsible for the strange behaviour of these distant rocks, rather than a planet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Regardless of the outcome," Brown says, "this work highlights the potential for the outer solar system to serve as a laboratory for testing gravity and studying fundamental problems of physics."</p>

Planet Nine, a hypothetical ninth planet in the outer region of the Solar System, has almost become impossible to trace by scientists and astronomers. Planet Nine is said to be somewhere beyond the orbit of Pluto and lies in a very dark and cold place in the Solar System, which makes it hard to detect. In the past, scientists have given several reasons for this. One would be that no one has actually seen it yet and it’s only on the paper. Another is the real possibility that it is just not there. Or it might not be a single planet at all, but a swarm of rocks instead. But according to a recent research; it is more than all of that. Also Read | Hunting was not solely a man's arena in prehistoric times, women did it too, study suggests Mystery of Planet Nine New research conducted by physicists Katherine Brown of Hamilton College and Harsh Mathur of Case Western Reserve University deduced that there is something missing from our current model of gravity as described under the general relativity theory. According to their recent study, the subtle abnormalities in the orbits of various objects some attribute to a hidden planet are also consistent with a different kind of gravitational model – one called Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND). The flaws in Newton's law of universal gravitation were resolved by Einstein's theory of general relativity. MOND is an alternative solution that proposes other gravitational effects take over when Newtonian gravitational acceleration drops below a certain threshold. Also Read | Study finds 98 per cent population in world experienced effects of global warming Because MOND can describe the gravitational behaviour of galaxies that don't seem to be tied to normal matter – unexpected rotation curves and lensing effects – it's an attractive alternative to dark matter. But it hasn't really been studied on smaller scales. "MOND is really good at explaining galactic-scale observations," Mathur says. "I hadn't expected that it would have noticeable effects on the outer Solar System." Brown and Mathur thought that these clustering observations might not be compatible with MOND. They undertook an investigation, modelling the orbits of outer Solar System Kuiper Belt objects under MOND to observe how they behave. Also Read | NASA to take 'amusement park' approach to bring Mars samples back to Earth Surprisingly, what they ended up with was a bunch of rocks behaving pretty much exactly like the observed clustering. Their calculations suggest under MOND theory, some of the objects in the outer Solar System should be dragged into alignment with the gravitational field of the Milky Way galaxy over time. It's not enough to confidently assert that MOND is responsible for the strange behaviour of these distant rocks, rather than a planet. "Regardless of the outcome," Brown says, "this work highlights the potential for the outer solar system to serve as a laboratory for testing gravity and studying fundamental problems of physics." Somewhere beyond Pluto might be a ninth planet. But now astronomers are not sure

Pansy is a large-flowered hybrid plant. They are one of the best winter flowers to grow at home. Its simple and overlapping petals look fabulous and can be grown as hanging plants.

Alyssum is a low-growing plant that usually blooms white flowers. It is also called sweet alyssum because of its sweet, honey-scented blossoms. When fully flowered, these winter flowers fill the whole area with their aroma.

Petunia is largely grown in Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and other hilly regions. They grow in various colours, from deep blue, deep red, red-orange to lavender. They require less sunlight and little fertiliser.

Antirrhinum has many colourful varieties which are used for pot and bedding culture. It is commonly known as a dragon flower because its flower face looks like a dragon that closes and opens its mouth when laterally squeezed.

Asters come in various dazzling colours and shapes. It has around 180 species and is best for the winter season. They can tolerate exposure to full sun, requiring the pot and soil to be well-drained.

Calendula flower is a single or double-flowering plant. They can be mistaken for marigold, as they are also in yellow to deep orange colour. Calendula plants are frost tolerant and somewhat cold hardy and add long-lasting color and beauty in a flower bed or container.

Allamanda or Golden Trumpet or Buttercup flourish in summer with their bright yellow colour but can also be grown in winter till December. It requires less care and brightens up your garden with its creeper branches.

<p><strong>SA vs BAN head-to-head: </strong>South Africa and Bangladesh will meet in match no. 23 of the ongoing 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup. The clash will take place on Tuesday (Oct 24) at 2:00 pm IST. The game is slated to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Maharashtra.&nbsp;</p>

<p>South Africa has been decent in their run so far, with three wins from four matches, while Bangladesh has won just one game. They are placed in third and fifth places in the rankings, respectively.</p>

<p>Ahead of Tuesday’s match, let’s take a look at the head-to-head record of the two teams in ODI matches:&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>SA vs BAN World Cup 2023: South Africa vs Bangladesh head-to-head stats</strong></h2>

<p>A total of 24 matches have taken place between South Africa and Bangladesh in the ODI format. South Africa has won 18 matches while Bangladesh has won 6 matches.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Total matches played: </strong>24</p>

<p><strong>Won by South Africa</strong>: 18</p>

<p><strong>Won by Bangladesh</strong>: 6</p>

<p>"Every year we start small pumpkins and every year we get from the bigger pumpkins the seeds and mix them to make every year bigger and bigger pumpkins. This year we have pumpkins of more than 1000 kilos," explains Gert Peeters, the organiser and pumpkin patch owner.</p>

6 Home Remedies to Keep Your Skin Moisturised in Winter

Coconut oil has emollient properties. Emollients fill the spaces between skin cells, creating a smooth surface. That’s why the saturated fatty acids that occur naturally in coconut oil hydrate and smoothen the skin.

Honey is a natural skin moisturiser which hydrates the skin by penetrating into deeper layers. It also aids in clearing up the pores on your skin and its antioxidant properties restore your natural glow.

Petroleum jelly, also known as mineral oil, covers the skin with a protective layer. It traps moisture underneath. This helps heal dry, irritated skin patches.

Oatmeal is a common remedy for irritated skin. To make an oatmeal bath at home, use a food processor to grind oatmeal into a fine powder, and then stir it into warm water. Oatmeal's anti-inflammatory properties will provide great relief from dry skin.

Foods rich in antioxidants and omega-3s can minimise the damage from toxins that are drying out your skin. It is advised to consume blueberries, tomatoes, carrots, beans and lentils regularly in winter.

Drinking hot water or lukewarm water regularly in winter improves blood circulation, nourishes the skin and makes it smooth and radiant. It also rejuvenates the hair and improves texture.

Massaging your hair and scalp regularly in chilly winter months with natural oils can nourish your hair roots and strengthen your hair follicles by moisturising the scalp and promoting blood supply in the hair roots.

It is crucial to cover your hair during winter to protect them from the moisture-robbing dry air, snow and wind. To avoid the static electricity under your hat, use a dry oil spray.

Even though a steamy shower might be just what you’re looking for in winters but hot water can zap moisture from your hair, making it brittle and more vulnerable to breaking.

Applying conditioner after washing your hair protects the outermost layer of your hair and makes them smooth and shiny. It also helps in reducing fizziness from your hair.

Wet hair is more vulnerable to damage than dry hair. Walking outside in winter with a wet head can cause hair to freeze and break. While air drying is best, it’s better to blow-dry your hair before stepping outside the house.

Due to extra dryness in winters, hairs tend to tangle more, which leads to more breakage. It is good to comb your hair daily in winters using a wide-tooth comb.
