United States former First Lady and former president Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump has renegotiated her prenuptial agreement with her husband for the third time since the two got married in 2005, as per media reports.

According to Page Six, although the updated terms in the agreement involve property and finances, Melania Trump was 'most concerned' about increasing the amount of the trust fund which has been set for the only son of the couple, Barron.

Currently, Barron is 17 years old and only a few months away from turning 18. The publication quoted the sources as saying, “This is at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the terms of her martial agreement.”

As per sources, the changes in the prenup have been made not considering the hopeful second term of Donald Trump as the country's president but rather because of the queue of cases against him.

<h2>Amendments made as Trump is liable to pay $5 million to author E. Jean Carroll</h2>

“This agreement was necessary because of the current legal battles... [Trump] has suffered,” they stated. The sources said that the couple allegedly claimed that the amendment had been made with the aim to establish a ‘substantial trust’ for their teenage son, as the 77-year-old Trump is liable to pay around $5 million to author E. Jean Carroll after he lost a defamation battle against her in New York.

Donald Trump, whose net worth is estimated to be around $2.5 billion, will be additionally paying another $250 million in NYC, because of an ongoing case against him as well as his businesses.

Another insider, who claimed to be aware of the event, was quoted as saying, “I know that she wanted it to provide her with more money, and also - from what I understand - there’s a specific amount at minimum that Barron is supposed to obtain.”

Barron, who will be 18 years old in March next year, is the youngest among the five children of the former president.

NATO member Romania on Saturday (Sep 30) said that there was a possible airspace breach during Russia's overnight drone attacks on infrastructure in neighbouring Ukraine.

After Russia exited the deal which allowed safe grain shipments through the Black Sea, the strikes on Ukraine's southern Mykolaiv and Odesa regions have been ramped up by Russia. The regions are home to vital grain-exporting infrastructure.

"Following the detection of groups of drones heading towards Ukrainian territory near the Romanian border" residents in the Galati and Tulcea municipalities were alerted, said the defence ministry, in a statement.

"The radar surveillance system ... indicated possible unauthorised entry into national airspace, with a signal detected on a route towards the municipality of Galati," it stated.

The defence ministry stated that no objects appeared to have fallen inside the Romanian territory but they will continue the search on Saturday. Around midnight, the people living in Galati and Tulcea, which is near the port of Reni in southern Ukraine across the River Danube, were alerted and warned to take shelter. After two hours, the alert measures were lifted.

Earlier this month, air-raid shelters were built by the Romanian soldiers to protect the residents in the eastern Romanian village of Plauru after they found drone fragments in the area.

Romania reports 'airspace breach' during Ukraine attacks, Zelensky attracts arms makers

Scientists said that the sandals found buried in a bat cave in southern Spain are likely to be the oldest footwear ever found in Europe, adding that they appeared to be 6,200 years old.

In an article published in Science Advances journal, a team examining the items said that the sandals, tools and baskets, which belonged to the 19th century, were found at a hunter-gatherer burial site in the Cueva de los Murciélagos, also known as “cave of the bats,” close the southern city of Granada. They added that after examining the items discovered, they were found to be much older than previously thought.

Radiocarbon dating was used by the study to date 76 items, which included 22 sandals and baskets made from esparto which is a type of grass used in crafts for thousands of years across North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula.

The grass was crushed by the ancient humans to make twine to braid sandals, bags and sandals. For 20 to 30 days, the grass was dried up before it was rehydrated for 24 hours to make it pliable, which is a skilled and complex process.

A similar type of sandals, which were estimated to be 5,500 years old, was found in Armenia, while the shoes used by “Ötzi the Iceman”, who was a prehistoric man known to live in Italy in 1991, date back to 5,300 years.

“The quality and technological complexity of the basketry makes us question the simplistic assumptions we have about human communities prior to the arrival of agriculture in southern Europe,” said Francisco Martinez Sevilla, the study's leader, in a press release.

Martinez Sevilla, who hails from the University of Alcala in Spain, stated that the Cueva de los Murcielagos was a “unique site in Europe to study the organic materials of prehistoric populations.”

<h2>Sandals with a single braid to be tied around the ankle</h2>

The sandals do not have any laces, but some have a single braid which is fixed to the middle and can be tied around the ankle of the wearer. Similar sandals were discovered across Europe in later periods, but they were made using other materials and not just grass.

“This sandal set therefore represents the earliest and widest-ranging assemblage of prehistoric footwear, both in the Iberian peninsula and in Europe, unparalleled at other latitudes,” stated the study.

Europe’s oldest shoes: Researchers find 6,000-year-old sandals in Spanish bat cave

In a first, astronomers have discovered the first direct evidence which proves the spinning of a black hole.

The observations gave astronomers new insights regarding enigmatic celestial objects, as the scientists focussed on the supermassive black hole which is present at the centre of the neighbouring Messier 87 (M87) galaxy. The Event Horizon Telescope had imaged the shadow of Messier 87 (M87) galaxy.

Just like other supermassive black holes, M87 also features powerful jets which were launched from the poles almost at the speed of light into intergalactic space.

Till now, scientists have believed that cosmic jets are powered by the spinning of a black hole, however, until now they did not have any direct evidence.

Speaking to The Guardian, co-author of the study and the national astronomical observatory of Japan's Dr. Kazuhiro Hada said, “After the success of black hole imaging in this galaxy with the Event Horizon Telescope, whether this black hole is spinning or not has been a central concern among scientists. Now anticipation has turned into certainty. This monster black hole is indeed spinning.”

Lead author of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory Dr Ru-Sen Lu said that the scientific community are aware of jets getting ejected from the region surrounding black holes.

"But we still do not fully understand how this happens," said Lu, adding that they need to observe the jet's origin as close as possible to the black hole.

M87, which is located 55 million light years from the Earth, has a black hole which is 6.5 billion times larger than the Sun. As per the scientists, an accretion disk of gas as well as dust swirling on the precipice of the cosmic sinkhole appears beyond the black hole.

<h2>Scientists discover cause behind Black Hole spinning</h2>

According to them, some of these particles fall into the black hole and disappear forever. However, a small fraction gets ejected out from the poles of the black hole at a speed which is more than 99.99 per cent of the speed of light.

As per the study, the scientists observed a recurring 11-year cycle in the jet, which was found to precess near a central point at the black hole's edge. This observation showed a misalignment between the spin axis of the black hole and the accretion disk, because of which the jet moved like a spinning top.

“Detecting this precession provides unequivocal evidence that the supermassive black hole in M87 is indeed spinning, thus enhancing our understanding of the nature of supermassive black holes,” said the authors.

Speaking to The Guardian, an astrophysicist at UCL Dr Ziri Younsi said, “That’s exciting because it’s telling us that it can only precess if the black hole has non-zero spin. It’s an indirect but extremely strong confirmation of spin.”

Black holes might be closer to Earth than we thought Speaking to The Guardian, co-author of the study and the national astronomical observatory of Japan's Dr. Kazuhiro Hada said, “After the success of black hole imaging in this galaxy with the Event Horizon Telescope, whether this black hole is spinning or not has been a central concern among scientists. Now anticipation has turned into certainty. This monster black hole is indeed spinning.” Lead author of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory Dr Ru-Sen Lu said that the scientific community are aware of jets getting ejected from the region surrounding black holes. Scientists discover cause behind Black Hole spinning According to them, some of these particles fall into the black hole and disappear forever. WATCH | Cosmic journey: Space balloons & space station visit part of the tour “Detecting this precession provides unequivocal evidence that the supermassive black hole in M87 is indeed spinning, thus enhancing our understanding of the nature of supermassive black holes,” said the authors. Speaking to The Guardian, an astrophysicist at UCL Dr Ziri Younsi said, “That’s exciting because it’s telling us that it can only precess if the black hole has non-zero spin. It’s an indirect but extremely strong confirmation of spin.” You can now write for wionews.com and be a part of the community. Share your stories and opinions with us here. WATCH WION LIVE HERE

Migrants, who were travelling atop the freight train, were stranded on Friday (Sep 29) in Mexico, after the train abruptly stopped miles from the US border.

The train was halted after dozens of northbound trains were suspended by the government over fears around migrant safety.

As reported by Reuters, hundreds of migrants were aboard a train which stood in a desert-like area near Villa Ahumada, around 123 km (76.43 miles) from the border town of Ciudad Juarez located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.

"They're treating us like animals," stated Sasha Pacheco, who was onboard the stationary train, and was accompanied by her family including an infant.

Last week, 60 northbound cargo trains, run by Ferromex of Mexico, were halted after around half a dozen migrants faced injury or death. Later, the company said that the trains were restarted in some routes, where there was no known "heightened risk".

Some banners were hung on the side of the train halted in Villa Ahumada read, "Thank you Ferromex". These banners were put up by migrants who were initially grateful to the company for restarting the trains.

The spokesperson of Grupo Mexico, which is the owner of Ferromex, said that there were no additional updates to share about the trains still halted.

"Concentrations of migrants continue to be monitored, and trains are moved, ensuring continuity of traffic, but avoiding high risks for people and for operations," they stated.

In another twist to his diplomatic stance, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada is committed to building closer ties with India, despite his claim of “credible allegations” of the Indian government's involvement in the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia just last June, reported Canada-based National Post.

Nijjar was murdered in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18. He was designated as a terrorist by India in 2020.

Speaking about India's increasing influence worldwide, Trudeau said that it is “extremely important” that Canada, as well as its allies, continue engaging with the South Asian giant.

While addressing a press conference on Thursday (Sep 28) in Montreal, Trudeau stated that it is “extremely important” that Canada and its allies continue their engagement “constructively and seriously” with India, considering the country's increasing global importance.

Trudeau further stated that the US has given its assurance that the allegations made against India in Nijjar’s murder will be raised by Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a meeting with his Indian counterpart in Washington DC on Thursday.

“The Americans have been with us in speaking to the Indian government about how important it is that they be involved in following up on the credible allegations that agents of the Indian government killed a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil,” stated Trudeau.

“This is something that all democratic countries, all countries that respect the rule of law need to take seriously. We are moving forward in a thoughtful, responsible way anchored in the rule of law with all of our partners including in our approach to the Government of India,” he said.

Nijjar killing row: Now, Canada PM Trudeau wants to build 'closer ties' with India

US President Joe Biden on Thursday (Sep 28) launched a personal attack on "extremist" Donald Trump, indicating that the Republican who could be his 2024 challenger, would challenge the country's constitution if he comes back to power next year.

Speaking in the battleground state of Arizona, the Democrat said that Trump was driven by "vengeance and vindictiveness", and he appealed to Americans to take a stand for the country's democracy before it is too late.

Biden delivered the speech as impeachment inquiry hearings were launched by House Republicans into the 80-year-old president on the basis of unproven allegations that he lied about the business dealings of his son Hunter Biden.

"We should all remember: democracies don't have to die at the end of a rifle. They can die when people are silent, when they fail to stand up, or condemn threats to democracy,” Biden stated.

Biden has tried to avoid commenting on the cases which stemmed from efforts of Trump to overturn his 2020 election loss and led to an attack on the US Capitol by a mob of his supporters on January 6, 2021.

However, in Arizona, he took an unusual step of addressing Trump by name, as he accused the former president and his followers of attacking the rule of law and the free press and planning to gut the country's institutions if he gets a second term.

<h2>'Something dangerous happening in America'</h2>

"Trump says the constitution gave him 'the right to do what he wants'," stated Biden, while referring to the statements made by Trump regarding his powers in office.

"I've never even heard a president say that in jest -- not guided by the constitution or by common service and decency towards our fellow Americans, but by vengeance and vindictiveness,” he added.

Issuing a dark warning, Biden stated there was "something dangerous happening in America" and that the Republican Party was "driven and intimidated" by Trump's MAGA (Make America Great Again) fringe.

He slammed the Republicans for not speaking up after the country's top military officer was recently accused of treason by Trump, and slammed the hardline Trump allies for pushing the country in the direction of a government shutdown this weekend.

The president further recalled how Trump had reportedly called to service members killed or captured in action as "suckers and losers".

"Was he [Beau Biden, the late son of Biden who served in military] a sucker for volunteering to serve his country?" asked the president.

'Something dangerous happening in America' "Trump says the constitution gave him 'the right to do what he wants'," stated Biden, while referring to the statements made by Trump regarding his powers in office. Biden says US democracy in danger if 'extremist' Trump returns to power

The police in the north of England arrested a 16-year-old on suspicion of “deliberately felling” 300-year-old Sycamore Gap tree and causing criminal damage.

The tree, which was said to be around 300 years old, attained fame when it appeared in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which starred Kevin Costner. The police stated that the tree's felling was a deliberate act of vandalism.

The teenager was arrested by the officers as the residents expressed their sadness over destruction of the tree, which was was eminent feature of the site at Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland for hundreds of years.

On Thursday (Sep 28), Northumbria police said the boy had been kept in custody and assisting the police officers with their inquiries.

The national park authorities and locals stated that they were “struggling to see the logic” in the Sycamore Gap's destruction which was for a long time a “part of this area’s DNA” and had survived thousands of changes of seasons.

Investigation launched into felling of tree

On Thursday, Supt Kevin Waring of Northumbria police said, “This is a world-renowned landmark and the events of today have caused significant shock, sadness and anger throughout the local community and beyond.”

“An investigation was immediately launched following this vandalism, and this afternoon we have arrested one suspect in connection with our inquiries,” he added.

“Given our investigation remains at a very early stage, we are keeping an open mind. I am appealing to the public for information to assist us – if you have seen or heard anything suspicious that may be of interest to us, please let us know,” the police official stated.

Park rangers and police officers at the scene stated that they felt the tree was skillfully sliced using a sharp chainsaw by someone who understood what he was doing.

The locals stated that they did not hear anything in the night because of high winds from Storm Agnes – and found the tree split from its stump early in the morning.

The general manager at the National Trust Andrew Poad said that he is not being able to understand who will have a reason to chop the tree down.

“We have ups and downs [with members of the public] but not to a degree anyone would do something like this. It’s a reason better known to themselves. It’s part of this area’s DNA, that’s what I’m struggling with. I can’t see the logic in what’s happened,” Poad stated.

Teenager arrested for ‘deliberately felling' famous Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian’s Wall

The latest observations of NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have hinted at the presence of a building block of life – carbon – inside the global ocean on Europa, one of the icy moons of Jupiter.

The James Webb Space Telescope was used by two independent teams of astronomers to observe the frozen surface of Europa. Each analysis of the detections of the space observatory revealed the presence of abundant carbon dioxide within a specific area of the frigid terrain.

The two studies described the findings which were published in the journal Science on September 21.

“On Earth, life likes chemical diversity — the more diversity, the better. We’re carbon-based life. Understanding the chemistry of Europa’s ocean will help us determine whether it’s hostile to life as we know it, or if it might be a good place for life,” stated Geronimo Villanueva, lead author of the first study and planetary scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, Maryland, in a statement.

Apart from Earth, Europa is among the several ocean worlds present in our solar system where scientists feel life could exist.

Europa has a thick ice shell beneath which a subsurface global ocean exists, which may contain twice the amount of water present on the oceans of the planet.

However environments, which are suitable for the existence of life, require more than water: an energy source and a supply of organic molecules, according to NASA.

After Webb's data revealed that carbon is present on Europa’s surface, an analysis was conducted by the researchers to understand if it was delivered by meteorites, or if it originated from the internal ocean.

In the observations, carbon dioxide was seen concentrated in a region of “chaos terrain” on Europa known as Tara Regio. The geologically young area is filled with ice which has been resurfaced and disrupted, which further suggests that the material was exchanged between the surface and the ocean.

<h2>Carbon dioxide is not stable on Europa's surface</h2>

Carbon dioxide is not stable on the surface of Europa, which further led the two teams to the same conclusion, that it originated from the ocean.

“We now think that we have observational evidence that the carbon we see on Europa’s surface came from the ocean. That’s not a trivial thing. Carbon is a biologically essential element,” stated Samantha Trumbo, lead author of the second study and a 51 Pegasi B Fellow at Cornell University, in a statement.

The Hubble Space Telescope had earlier spotted ocean-derived salt in the same region. “We think this implies that the carbon probably has its ultimate origin in the internal ocean,” said Trumbo.
