India and Bangladesh will hold biannual talks between their border guarding forces in Delhi from June 11 during which the two sides are expected to discuss a host of issues related to combating cross-frontier crimes and measures to create better synergy.

A 15-member delegation of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), led by its director general (DG) Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan, landed in Delhi on Saturday. Border Security Force (BSF) DG Sujoy Lal Thaosen and senior officers of the force welcomed them at the airport, officials said.

The four-day talks will conclude on June 14 at a BSF camp in southwest Delhi's Chhawla area.

"The conference is being organised to discuss the border-related issues and for better coordination between both border guarding forces."

"Discussions will be held on how to jointly curb the various trans-border crimes and timely sharing of information between both the border guarding forces," a BSF spokesperson said in a statement.

Further, there will be deliberations on developmental and infrastructural works, joint efforts for effective implementation of Co-ordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) and Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), the spokesperson said.

This will be the 53rd edition of the talks and the last such meeting was held in July last year when the BSF delegation travelled to Dhaka.

The BSF guards the 4,096-km-long international border with Bangladesh on India's eastern flank. 
These talks were held annually between 1975 and 1992 but they were made biannual in 1993 with either side alternately travelling to the national capitals of New Delhi and Dhaka.

A senior BSF officer had earlier told PTI that the relations between the two countries and their border forces are very good and the conference is expected to enhance these ties. A 'joint record of discussions' will be signed by the two sides at the end of the conference.

Twitter to now pay verified content creators for ads in replies, says Elon Musk

Indonesia is all set to build its new capital Nusantara, and for that, the country's parliamentary budget committee approved an additional 15 trillion rupiah ($1.01 billion) on Friday to speed up its construction, Reuters cited a senior lawmaker as saying.

Said Abdullah, the committee's chair, said that previously, 22 trillion rupiah was allocated for developing Nusantara on Borneo island in 2023 and the recently allocated budget of 15 trillion will be utilised in this year's construction.

"Therefore, in June (2024) the president can live there," he told a hearing with the government's senior ministers.

Indonesia is planning to complete the capital's main administrative offices, which include the presidential palace and key ministerial buildings, by mid-2024.&nbsp;

At least 16,000 civil servants, military and police are scheduled to move to those respective buildings next year.

President Joko Widodo vowed that only 20% of the total project's cost, which is around $32 billion, will be from the government's fund, the rest all will be from the private sector.

However, as of now, no investment deal has been signed as the investors worry about the project's feasibility and continuity despite the fact government offering incentives.&nbsp;

Meta Platforms on Thursday launched a new feature called WhatsApp Channels, asserting that it would help make the application a "private broadcast messaging product".

The social media giant released a statement saying that the very first countries to be able to access the new feature will be Colombia and Singapore.&nbsp;

The company added that over the coming months, it will make the tool available to users in more countries.

Further elucidating on the feature, Meta said that Channels will help the users follow content on their hobbies, sports teams, updates from local officials and others.

A new menu option called 'updates' has been introduced on the app from where both status and channels can be accessed. The channel updates will be separate from regular WhatsApp chats.

The report further stated that this feature is only enabled if a user gives their consent to share the content on their screen.

Two lawyers quit Donald Trump's defence in documents case, former aide indicted

White House national security spokesman John Kirby, on Friday, released a statement warning about a drone factory that Russia was working to establish "on its territory".&nbsp;

He said that the country was importing materials from Iran to build the factory and that it "could be fully operational early next year".

The White House released a satellite image of the location of the forthcoming plant in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, which was based some 900 kilometres (560 miles) east of Moscow.

"The Russia-Iran military partnership appears to be deepening," Kirby said in a statement, citing US intelligence information.

The White House said it would release a new government advisory to assist businesses and governments "to ensure they are not inadvertently contributing to Iran's (drone) programme".

According to Washington, Russia has received hundreds of attack drones and related equipment from Iran to aid Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

As per US data, Kirby said, the drones "are built in Iran, shipped across the Caspian Sea and then used operationally by Russian forces against Ukraine."

"Russia has been using Iranian UAVs in recent weeks to strike Kyiv and terrorise the Ukrainian population," he added, referring to unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones.

Washington issued the alert on what it feels are Moscow's efforts to create Iranian drones itself.

"We have information that Russia is receiving materials from Iran needed to build a UAV manufacturing plant inside Russia," Kirby said.

According to the White House, in turn, Iran is seeking to purchase Su-35 fighter jets, attack helicopters, radars, and YAK-130 combat trainer aircraft from Russia.

"We will continue to impose sanctions on the actors involved in the transfer of Iranian military equipment to Russia for use in Ukraine," AFP quoted Kirby as saying.

Myanmar actress and singer Lily Naing Kyaw died in a hospital a week after being allegedly shot by gunmen in the head for supporting the military junta. The 58-year-old was seen as close to military leaders who seized power in a coup in 2021. Kyaw was also accused of being their informant, as per BBC reports.

The two alleged attackers accused of killing her have been arrested by the police.

They are said to be from an urban guerrilla group that opposes the military. Within hours of their arrest, two relatives of one of the alleged assailants were killed in apparent retribution, reported BBC.

The incident of Kyaw's killing is the latest in a series of assassinations of high-profile government supporters in the country.

Tint Lwin, a well-known nationalist and pro-military champion, was fatally shot in the head in Yangon. This was just four days before Kyaw was attacked.

Kyaw was targeted by the attackers on May 30 in the evening. The reports of her being shot came up after an image&nbsp;of her face lying down in her car went viral on social media.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition and remained in a coma until she died early on June 6.&nbsp;

A statement issued by the government called the attack an "inhumane shooting of an innocent woman".

Seventeen pro-junta organisations released statements denouncing the killing. Ma Ba Tha, a hard-line nationalist Buddhist organisation, demanded better security.

Two men accused of the shooting, who were said to be the members of Special Task Force, were arrested.

One of them, named Kaung Zar Ni Hein, was identified from CCTV footage. The other attacker has been named Kyaw Thura. Both of them are in custody awaiting trial.

The military has claimed that prominent student leader D Nyein Lynn was behind the shooting.

On the night the two attackers were arrested, the mother and cousin of Kaung Zar Ni Hein, were fatally shot at their home in Yangon. His younger brother and younger sister managed to escape - the security forces are "protecting them from gunmen", BBC quoted a pro-military channel as saying.

However, there is no independent confirmation of the report and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Another world record of the largest-ever gathering of people donning a Spider-Man costume was set by Sony Pictures Malaysia. On June 3, around 685 people wearing Spider-Man costumes gathered at the AEON Mall Bukit Tinggi to create a new world record.
