The dam's destruction has left 94% of irrigation systems in Kherson, 74% of those in Zaporizhzhia, and 30% in Dnipro regions without water, the ministry added.&nbsp;

He told AFP he had no information about the background of the shooting, but said his town was "standing with the families of the victims as one".

Experts say Arab gangs have amassed large quantities of illegal weapons over the past two decades and are involved in drugs, arms and human trafficking, prostitution, extortion and money laundering.

Arab Israelis, descendants of Palestinians who stayed on their land after Israel's creation in 1948, comprise around 20 percent of the country's population.

They have long complained of discrimination and police inaction against violence and crime plaguing their communities.

On May 30, elected officials and representatives of the Arab minority protested in Jerusalem and called on the government to increase security.

Earlier this week, Netanyahu announced a decision to form a steering committee following a meeting with Arab lawmakers to discuss "solutions to the wave of murders in the Arab society".

On Thursday, he said he was "determined to stop this chain of murders" and would see that happen by not only reinforcing police but also "with the help of the Shin Bet".

The internal security agency does not normally investigate criminal activity.

Earlier on Thursday, a 30-year-old man and a three-year-old girl were wounded in a separate shooting in Kafr Kanna, an Arab town north of Nazareth.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai took to Twitter and strongly condemned the attack that struck the Nabawi mosque in the Hesa-e Awal neighbourhood of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province.

He labelled the attack an act of “terrorism”, “against human and Islamic standards”, while conveying his condolences to the families affected.

The interior ministry released a statement condemning the attack. "The Ministry of Interior of the IEA condemns this brutality of the disgraced enemies," a statement said of the blast in the provincial capital of Faizabad.

"I was standing outside the mosque to receive the guests coming, suddenly a terrible sound shook the mosque," said witness Naseer Ahmad.

"When I entered the mosque, I saw bloodied dead bodies laying on the ground," AFP quoted the 37-year-old as saying.

As per AFP reports, the Taliban government security forces had set up checkpoints around the funeral site in the morning.

The blast led to panic, forcing the people to flee to nearby streets and shops to close as security forces sealed the area.

<h2>IS claims responsibility for Ahmadi's killing</h2>

On Tuesday, Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, was killed along with his driver in a vehicle bombing.

The responsibility for the assassination was claimed by the Islamic State.

An IS suicide bomber rammed his car filled with explosives into Ahmadi's vehicle in Faizabad. Six others were also injured in the attack.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) took to Twitter and said it "unequivocally condemns this and a recent spate of appalling and indiscriminate attacks that have shown a total disregard for civilian lives".

Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose, Member Secretary of the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), said the monsoon has just set in the state and "we have to wait and see how it unfolds". "It is just the beginning," he said.

"We hope that the rain will catch up and whatever deficit has occurred due to the delay, will be compensated in the next 2-3 weeks," he added. At the same time, he also said that the first Orange alert, after the monsoon was declared to have arrived in Kerala, was issued for Kozhikode for today.&nbsp;

"Thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall and gusty wind speed reaching 40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts and light rainfall is likely at one or two places in Kasaragod district of Kerala," a KSDMA release said.&nbsp;

Kuriakose further said that while Cyclone 'Biparjoy' in the Arabian Sea may have affected the onset of the monsoon, it would not have much of an impact on its intensity. "In fact, IMD has forecast higher than usual rainfall in Kerala this monsoon season," he said.&nbsp;

Warnings have been issued since last week in coastal areas asking fishermen not to venture out to sea, he said. Besides that, warnings related to thunderstorms and lightning were also issued during the day in several districts after the onset of monsoon in Kerala was announced by IMD.

"Law and order is the responsibility of the government, Home Department. No one will be allowed to take the law and order into their hands. In such situations, action will be taken against those people. The Home Department and the Home Minister himself are keeping a close watch on the situation. I'm monitoring the situation myself through the senior officials", he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that there is no forgiveness in the state for those who appreciate Aurangzeb.

"Police are also taking action. At the same time, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that the people should also maintain peace, and no untoward incident happens anywhere,"&nbsp;he added.

<h2>Case registered against four</h2>

According to officials, the police registered a case against four people who carried posters of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb during a procession in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district, a video of which later went viral on the internet.

The Bhingar Camp police officials said that the procession was held in the Fakirwada area at 9 am on Sunday.

"Amid music and dance in the procession, four persons carried posters of Aurangzeb. An offence was registered against these four persons under Indian Penal Code sections for intention to incite a community to commit an offence against another community, hurting religious sentiments, and other offences," PTI quoted a Bhingar Camp police official as saying.

The destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam in Ukraine caused people awaiting rescue in affected areas to spend Tuesday night (June 6) on roofs or trees due to flooding.

Satellite images taken by Maxar Technologies showed houses and buildings submerged, with&nbsp;only&nbsp;roofs visible, and water taking over parks, land and infrastructure. And many such people slept on roofs and sat on trees, waiting to be rescued, the news agency Reuters reported.&nbsp;

The Ukrainian government estimated that around 42,000 people are at direct risk from flooding which is expected to peak on Wednesday, and hundreds and thousands would be left without access to drinking water.&nbsp;

In a statement, the agriculture ministry said the disaster would cut off the water supply to 31 irrigation systems in the Ukrainian regions of Dnipro. The dam's destruction has left 94 per cent&nbsp;of irrigation systems in Kherson, 74 per cent&nbsp;of those in Zaporizhzhia, and 30 per cent&nbsp;in Dnipro regions without water, the ministry added.&nbsp;

Residents in affected areas have started fleeing, carrying children on their shoulders, dogs in their arms, and belongings in plastic bags while rescuers used rubber boats to search areas where the waters reached above head height.

A woman faked the death of her husband in the deadly train crash in Odisha's Balasore, which claimed the lives of nearly 300 people, in order to gain cash compensation announced by the railways and the state government for the victims and the families of the ones who lost their lives in the incident, news agency PTI reported on Wednesday.

Gitanjali Datta of Maniabanda in Cuttack district had declared that her husband Bijay Datta had died in an accident on June 2. She had also identified a body as that of her spouse.&nbsp;

She got into trouble after the verification of the documents showed that the claims made by her were false.

As per the PTI reports, the police let her go with a warning but she went into hiding fearing arrest after her husband filed a complaint against her at the Maniabandha police station.

According to the police, the couple has been living separately for the last 13 years.

Bijay has demanded strict action against Gitanjali for making an attempt to grab public money and for also faking his death.

Maniabanda police station in-charge Basant Kumar Satpathy said that the police have asked Bijay to file a complaint at Bahanaga police station in Balasore district as the incident occurred there.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary PK Jena asked the Railways and Odisha police to take strict action against people making fake claimants over bodies.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had declared Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for the family of the deceased while Indian PM Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh. The Railway Ministry has announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.

<h2>Here’s how the Odisha collision occurred</h2>

The Indian Railways Board has said that the horrific train accident in eastern Odisha state was due to an issue with the signal and that a passenger train, Coromandel Express, had gotten into the accident.

Addressing a press conference in the capital New Delhi, Jaya Varma Sinha, a Member of Operation and Business Development, explained how the events led to India’s deadliest train accident in 20 years.

Sinha said that the functioning of the interlocking system, prima facie, may have been part of the problem.

The railway official said that only Coromandel Express, which was travelling at a speed of around 128 kilometres per hour (128 km/h), had an accident. Sinha said the direction, route and signal were set for the Coromandel Express.

She, however, asserted that their finds are preliminary in nature, and a detailed assessment of the issue is awaited.

According to her, the accident took place near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore, Odisha, around 7 pm (local time) on Friday.

The crash involved three trains —Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast Express (12862), Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express (12841), and a goods train.

“The site where the accident happened had two main lines and two loop lines on both sides,” she said.

The main lines were clear for the passage of these superfast trains and the loop lines were occupied by two goods trains.

A woman faked the death of her husband in the deadly train crash in Odisha's Balasore, which claimed the lives of nearly 300 people, in order to gain cash compensation announced by the railways and the state government for the victims and the families of the ones who lost their lives in the incident, news agency PTI reported on Wednesday. Gitanjali Datta of Maniabanda in Cuttack district had declared that her husband Bijay Datta had died in an accident on June 2. She had also identified a body as that of her spouse. She got into trouble after the verification of the documents showed that the claims made by her were false. As per the PTI reports, the police let her go with a warning but she went into hiding fearing arrest after her husband filed a complaint against her at the Maniabandha police station. According to the police, the couple has been living separately for the last 13 years. Bijay has demanded strict action against Gitanjali for making an attempt to grab public money and for also faking his death. Meanwhile, Chief Secretary PK Jena asked the Railways and Odisha police to take strict action against people making fake claimants over bodies. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had declared Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for the family of the deceased while Indian PM Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh. The Railway Ministry has announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. Here’s how the Odisha collision occurred The Indian Railways Board has said that the horrific train accident in eastern Odisha state was due to an issue with the signal and that a passenger train, Coromandel Express, had gotten into the accident. Addressing a press conference in the capital New Delhi, Jaya Varma Sinha, a Member of Operation and Business Development, explained how the events led to India’s deadliest train accident in 20 years. Sinha said that the functioning of the interlocking system, prima facie, may have been part of the problem. The railway official said that only Coromandel Express, which was travelling at a speed of around 128 kilometres per hour (128 km/h), had an accident. Sinha said the direction, route and signal were set for the Coromandel Express. She, however, asserted that their finds are preliminary in nature, and a detailed assessment of the issue is awaited. According to her, the accident took place near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore, Odisha, around 7 pm (local time) on Friday. The crash involved three trains —Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast Express (12862), Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express (12841), and a goods train. “The site where the accident happened had two main lines and two loop lines on both sides,” she said. The court announced its verdict after discovering that the man had already been convicted 24 times for committing the very same crime.

As per the AP reports, the retired seaman was handed a suspended sentence by a court in the northern town of Aurich on Monday.

The accused said that he wanted to improve his sparse monthly pension, which was around 800 euros ($855), by selling marijuana.

The prosecutors had asked the court to impose a jail term of a minimum of 34 months in view of the man's lengthy criminal record and an existing suspended sentence, AP cited German news agency dpa as saying.

But, according to the reports, the judges said that taking the man's recent health problems and particular circumstances into consideration, they would make an exception and classify the latest crimes as "less serious offences".

As per AP, dpa quoted the presiding judge as telling the accused that it was his “very last warning.”&nbsp;

Police in Bavaria said the arrests made were the culmination of a three-year investigation effort codenamed Operation Eureka. Michael Ebling, State Interior Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, said the arrests were an "effective blow" to organised crime.

“Today sends out a very clear signal: There is no place for organised crime in Europe and there is certainly no place for it here with us in Rhineland-Palatinate,” Ebling was quoted as saying by dpa.

<h2>Ndrangheta's genesis</h2>

The mafia group's genesis dates back to the 18th century. Unlike most modern-day mafia groups, members of 'Ndrangheta' still follow ancient rites which are passed down orally and through secret codes. To avoid the clutches of&nbsp;law enforcement agencies, the group members avoid speaking on phones entirely, opting to drive hundreds of miles for a meeting.

It consists of autonomous clans known as 'ndrine' which are based almost exclusively on blood ties. It has a monopoly on drug trafficking in Europe and also deals in arms trafficking, money laundering, racketeering, extortion, loan sharking, and prostitution.
