<h2>'Child's hunger'&nbsp;</h2>
The family described their ordeal, saying that they reached the top of meadows after a tough, muddy hour-long horse ride, where they spent some time sightseeing and were about to go for the adventure activity zone.&nbsp;
However, their son Siddhant felt hungry and insisted on stopping to eat first.&nbsp;
"Around 1:45 pm, we thought of going there. But my son said he was hungry. We tried to convince him that we could eat before leaving. But he was adamant. So we headed towards the makeshift food stalls. We ordered Maggi," Pradeep told NDTV.&nbsp;

He added, "My wife then went to the washroom, about 500 metres away. It was a pay-and-use toilet, so she returned, took the money, and went again. By that time, we had eaten, and she hurriedly ate."
After 15-20 seconds, they saw two guys with big guns and they were shooting continuously, Pradeep said, adding that one terrorist went towards the lower part of the Valley and another headed towards them.&nbsp;

<h2>'Bullet touched her hair'</h2>
"Initially, we did not realise what was happening. Then we lay down. At this point, my wife thought of getting my bag, which was on the table. Our IDs and phones were in it. She got up to take the bag and felt something go past her right ear. It was a bullet," Pradeep said.
Shubha then realised that the IDs and phones were left on the table, but she instinctively got up to grab the bag. In that moment as she leaned forward to take the bag, a bullet whizzed past her right ear, grazing her hair.&nbsp;
"Something touched my hair," Shubha recalled. "I didn&rsquo;t realise it was a bullet at first, but the force made me turn &mdash; I saw it had hit the floor. God saved me."
Pradeep said that he didn't realise at that time that it was a terrorist attack, but recalled that someone shouted and asked people to run.&nbsp;
"I was 100 per cent sure we were going to die," Pradeep said. "But my wife just kept saying &lsquo;Nothing will happen&rsquo;. That confidence, I think, kept us going."

Now, any mountaineer with just an ambition cannot climb Mount Everest and would now have to get a permit to climb it.&nbsp;
&ldquo;The 8,848.86-metre Everest is about to get a stricter gatekeeper. No longer will just any climber with ambition and a permit be able to attempt the world&rsquo;s highest peak. A new draft law says: 'Prove yourself first'."
"Any climber wishing to set foot on Everest must first have conquered a mountain over 7,000 metres," as per the Integrated Tourism Bill registered in the upper house of Parliament on April 18, The Kathmandu Post reported.

Among other restrictions, now government-approved health checkups will also be mandatory for the climbers.&nbsp;
They will need a certificate from a government-approved medical institution, issued within the past month, to confirm their medical fitness for ascent.
Individuals with health complications will be excluded from participating in an expedition.
Earlier, five climbers went missing and 12 people died as Nepal issued 478 permits for Everest climbs in 2023.&nbsp;
According to the official data, since 1953&rsquo;s Hillary-Norgay summit, around 9,000 mountaineers have successfully scaled Mt Everest while over 300 have lost their lives.

He said that he found the conversation quite disturbing, however, it didn't scare or startle him until the April 22 attack, that killed at least 27 people, mostly tourists.&nbsp;
Raut further said that he got to know about the attacker after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) released the sketches of the terrorists.&nbsp;

He said that then he emailed the NIA a detailed account of his experience in Kashmir.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I have written everything I could remember. I have also mentioned that I could not initially pay the Maggi stall owner due to network issues. I took his phone number and paid him once I came down from the hill,&rdquo; he said.
However, Raut has not received any response from the NIA. "I&rsquo;ll cooperate with them in every possible way if they reach out to me,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;

The Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of three suspects linked to the attack and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakhs for those who give any information about them.

Following this, a Sikh advocacy group has raised concerns that it could have a "discriminatory impact" on immigrant truckers from their community which will create unnecessary barriers to employment.&nbsp;
The groups warned that it could "unfairly disadvantage" immigrant drivers and create employment barriers.&nbsp;
The Sikh Coalition, an advocacy group in the US, expressed "deeply concerned" about the order seeking to "ensure all commercial vehicle operators in the US are proficient English speakers".
"We understand that, under this order, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy will be directed to 'rescind and replace guidance to strengthen inspection procedures for compliance with English proficiency requirements'," the advocacy group said in a statement.

Moreover, there are approximately 150,000 Sikh workers in this industry, of whom 90 per cent are drivers, according to a report by the Economist.&nbsp;
The group further stressed that their community has played a vital role in meeting the high demand for drivers and alleviating the stress of driver shortages on American consumers and the economy.
"More than 30,000 Sikh drivers joined the industry between 2016 and 2018, contributing significantly to this critical sector prior to supply chain problems in 2020. Sikhs help drive&mdash;quite literally&mdash;the American economy," it added.

The groups warned that it could "unfairly disadvantage" immigrant drivers and create employment barriers. The Sikh Coalition, an advocacy group in the US, expressed "deeply concerned" about the order seeking to "ensure all commercial vehicle operators in the US are proficient English speakers". "We understand that, under this order, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy will be directed to 'rescind and replace guidance to strengthen inspection procedures for compliance with English proficiency requirements'," the advocacy group said in a statement. The group further stressed that their community has played a vital role in meeting the high demand for drivers and alleviating the stress of driver shortages on American consumers and the economy. "More than 30,000 Sikh drivers joined the industry between 2016 and 2018, contributing significantly to this critical sector prior to supply chain problems in 2020. The Sikh Coalition also joined other civil rights organisation to oppose Trump's order to understand the legal implications and implementation process of this most recent order. "However, we are concerned that it could have a discriminatory impact on Sikh truck drivers and create unnecessary barriers to employment for qualified individuals," it said. According to the order, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy will begin identifying and carrying out additional administrative, regulatory, or enforcement actions to improve the working conditions of America's truck drivers within 60 days of the order. Alyza Rafiq arrived in Kashmir under the 2010 rehabilitation policy for former terrorists, and pleaded to authorities to allow them to stay in India or "send us in body bags."
Rafiq came to Kashmir in 2013 after she got married to a former terrorist, and said that she was told to leave India.&nbsp;
"We have been asked to leave the country. I have three children. They have told me to leave my youngest daughter here. She is little, how can I leave her here!" Rafiq told Indian news agency PTI.

Following this, the Indian government announced that Pakistani nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC visa exemption scheme. Jammu And Kashmir Pahalgam Terror Attack LIVE Updates: 26 people were killed and many injured in India's Pahalgam, Jammu And Kashmir, on Tuesday (Apr 22) when terrorists opened fire in one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in the Himalayan region in a quarter of a century. It has triggered widespread public outrage across the world's most populous country and prompted the Indian government to act sharply against Pakistan. Pahalgam terror attack: Pakistan's response and India's action The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the horrific terror attack. However, they have denied their involvement on April 26. The Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of three suspects linked to the attack and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakhs for those who give any information about them. Two terrorists involved in the attack are Pakistani nationals: Hashim Musa alias Suleman and Ali Bhai alias Talha. The third, Abdul Hussain Thokar, is a resident of Anantnag in Kashmir. His home along with the homes of four other terrorists, have been demolished in the crackdown by J&K Police. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I say to the whole world. India will identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth." The neighbouring country claimed that the attack was a reaction by those who opposed the Indian government. Notably, Pakistan did not condemn the attack. Moreover, in a tit-for-tat move, Pakistan announced reciprocal action against India similar to the action taken by New Delhi and warned of ending the Simla Agreement. On Saturday, Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif issued his first reaction and accused India of "levelling false allegations," and called for a "credible probe."
