<p>NHTSA opened the probe in August 2021 after identifying 11 crashes involving a first responder vehicle and a Tesla in which Autopilot or Traffic Aware Cruise Control was engaged, and five additional cases were later found that fit into this group.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additional forensic data on 11 of the incidents showed the drivers took no action to avert a crash between two and five seconds prior to impact, although they had their hands on the steering wheel.</p>

<p>The agency also probed more than 100 crashes not involving an emergency vehicle in which Tesla Autopilot or another driver-assistance system was engaged.</p>

<p>NHTSA said that in about half of these cases evidence suggested that the driver was "insufficiently responsive" to driving conditions.</p>

<p>There was no immediate comment from Tesla after NHTSA made the latest report public</p>

<p>Businesses in Canada are hiring young teenagers to tackle labour shortage. And teens are keen to work to earn something for their pocket money.</p>

<p>Quebec province of Canada has no minimum age requirement to work. Parental authorisation lets children under 14 seek employment. Also, there is no limit on number of hours worked provided work is not during school hours or at night for those who are 18 years old.</p>

<p>"After the pandemic, we found ourselves with major hiring problems," said business owner Marie-Eve Guertin, who had to turn to employees under 15 this year for the first time in almost a decade of operating the restaurant. She was quoted by AFP.</p>

<p>"For full-time jobs, it's very difficult. I haven't received any resumes," Guertin said, so she turned to teenagers to keep her business afloat.</p>

<p>"You want to grow a business, you don't want to restrict it," she said, wanting to avoid reducing opening hours as many other restaurants have done.</p>

<p>"I wanted a part-time job, work hours here and there, to earn some pocket money," said Sofia-Rose Adams, a 13-year-old who works in Guertin's cafe.</p>

<p>Guertin has other teenaged girls working in her cafe. Seven of the eight employees of the small business are under 18 years old.</p>

<p>Half of Quebecers aged 15 to 19 have jobs, as per statistics quoted by AFP.</p>

<p>"I started working at 14," said Philippe Marcil, now 17 and an employee of a men's clothing store in a Montreal suburb.</p>

<p>"I understood from a young age that it was important to gain experience in the labor market, so I wanted to experiment with that," said the young man, who previously worked for two years as a supervisor at a fast food chain.</p>

<p>Charles Fleury, a sociologist and industrial relations professor at Laval University in Quebec City, said child labor "has always been somewhat present in Quebec, especially if we compare to European countries."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Teenagers readily taking up jobs before finishing school has begun to stir concerns. Quebec Minister of Labor Jean Boulet recently commented that he did not find it "normal" for 11-year-old children to be working and suggested that Quebec was considering legislation to better regulate the work of most youth.</p>

<p>But apparently, mosquitoes do sleep. Researchers from the University of Cincinnati can attest to that. Not only this, they've also concluded that if mosquitoes are sleep deprived, they prefer to sleep rather than go on blood-sucking frenzy.</p>

<p>So in essence, mosquitoes do value sleep, but only their own.</p>

<p>To check when the mosquitoes slept, researchers released the insects in small enclosures inside laboratory and used cameras and infrared sensors to keep an eye on them.</p>

<p>They determined that mosquitoes slept when their abdomens dropped to ground and hind legs drooped.</p>

<p>Some of the mosquitoes were then kept in clear tubes and were sleep deprived for 12 hours. This was done by vibrating the tubes every few minutes. After that, their reaction to a possible host was tested by inserting a pad of artificial sweat.</p>

<p>It was found that sleep-deprived mosquitoes were markedly less interested in food and preferred instead to catch a few Zs.</p>

<p>The study has been published in Journal of Experimental Biology.</p>

<p>Such studies may be useful to control population of mosquitoes by knowing their body cycles.</p>

<p>Investment Guru and fifth richest person in the world, Warren Buffett on Tuesday (June 14) donated about USD 4 billion to Bill &amp; Melinda Foundation Trust and four family charities.</p>

<p>Berkshire Hathaway Inc, which Buffett has run since 1965, said the donation comprises about 14.4 million of its Class B shares, whose closing price on Tuesday was $277.64.</p>

<p>Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will get eleven million shares while 1.1 million shares will go to Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation.</p>

<p>Another 770,000 shares will also go to each of three charities run by Buffett's children Howard, Susan and Peter: the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Sherwood Foundation and the Novo Foundation.</p>

<p>Warren Buffett (91) has donated more than half of his Berkshire shares since 2006.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite the donations, Buffett still owns approximately 16% of Berkshire and controls about one-third of its voting power.</p>

<p>Both percentages have been fairly stable in recent years because Berkshire has aggressively repurchased its own stock.</p>

<p>Buffett has built Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire into a more than $600 billion conglomerate, owning dozens of businesses such as the BNSF railroad and Geico auto insurance, and stocks such as Apple Inc and Bank of America Corp.</p>

Researchers at Imperial College in London have made a discovery in their study that infection by Omicron COVID virus does not gurantee protection against re-infection.</p>

<p>Researchers from the college studied blood samples from health workers as they arrived at the conclusion. These health workers had received three doses of mRNA vaccine and had different infection histories.</p>

<p>Researchers found that those health workers (with three doses of vaccines) who were not infected previously got no immune boost after getting infected by Omicron. Immune boost was seen only against alpha, beta, gamma, delta and the original strain, but not against Omicron.</p>

<p>"The message is a little bleak. Omicron and its variants are great at breakthrough, but bad at inducing immunity, thus we get reinfections ad nauseam, and a badly depleted workforce," said Professor Danny Altmann. He is from Imperial’s department of immunology and inflammation. Prof Altmann was quoted by The Telegraph.</p>

<p>"Not only can it break through vaccine defences, it looks to leave very few of the hallmarks we’d expect on the immune system – it’s more stealthy than previous variants and flies under the radar, so the immune system is unable to remember it," he added.</p>

<p>Trumps argued before the court that testifying would result in violation of their constitutional rights. They said that their words could be used against them in a related criminal investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.</p>

<p>They had agreed to testify so long as the Court of Appeals did not issue a stay.</p>

<p>Trump, a Republican, has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. He has also called James' probe a politically motivated witch hunt, and James a racist. James is a Democrat, and is Black.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office (PMO) said on Tuesday (June 14) that the prime minister has directed government departments and ministries to recruit 1 million people within next 1.5 years. PMO tweeted saying that the prime minister reviewed status of human resources in all departments and ministries.</p>

<p>"PM @narendramodi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in a mission mode in next 1.5 years," tweeted the PMO.</p>

<p>The Ministry of Labour and Employment on March 24 this year said, "The data on Employment and Unemployment is collected through Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) since 2017-18."</p>

<p>The decision of the government for the recruitment has come amid frequent criticism by the Opposition on the issue of unemployment. Opposition parties have been lashing out at the government over vacant posts in different government sectors.</p>

<p>Modi's direction was welcomed by his colleagues in the government.</p>

Indian PM Narendra Modi directs government departments for 1 million recruitments in next 1.5 years

An author in US who wrote 'How to murder your husband' and actually killed her real-life husband has been served poetic justice of sorts and has been sentenced to life in jail.</p>

<p>Nancy Crampton Brophy (71), the convict, will not even be eligible for first 25 years of her prison sentence. A judge in USA's northwestern state of Oregon handed the sentence to the author.</p>

<p>The trial went on for a month. It was heard during the trial how the author used a gun (bought on eBay) to kill her husband Daniel Brophy in order to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in life insurance.</p>

<p>The weapon was bought by Nancy Crampton Brophy as research for her new novel. The gun has not been found.</p>

<p>Chef Daniel Brophy, her husband, &nbsp;was found on the floor of a classroom in a now-defunct culinary institute where he worked, in June 2018. He had been shot twice. His wife was seen driving in the area in a CCTV footage at the time of the murder.</p>

<p>The author has written a series of novels titled &nbsp;"Wrong Never Felt So Right". Some of the novels in this series include "The Wrong Husband" and "The Wrong Lover".</p>

<p>Nancy Crampton Brophy claimed that she had no memory of being present at the crime seen. About CCTV footage, she said tha she would have been in the neighborhood trying to get inspiration for a new work of fiction.</p>

<p>Crampton Brophy, whose lawyers said last month they would appeal the verdict, denied the murder, insisting that years of financial struggle were behind the couple and that she had no reason to kill her husband.</p>

<p>"Where is the motivation? I would ask you," Crampton Brophy said as she sparred with the prosecutor during her trial.</p>

<p>"An editor would laugh and say, 'I think you need to work harder on this story, you have a big hole in it.'"</p>

<p>Her blog post "How to kill your husband," which is still readily available online, discusses methods and motivations for dispatching an unwanted spouse.</p>

<p>These include financial gain and the use of a firearm, although it notes guns are "loud, messy, require some skill."</p>

<p>"But the thing I know about murder is that every one of us have it in him/her when pushed far enough," the essay says.</p>

<p>Russian forces have destroyed last bridge to the city of Severodonetsk which has seen a pitched battle between Russian and Ukrainian forces. <p>It found that Tianjin in China was the fastest sinking city in the world. The city is sinking at the rate of 5 cm per year.</p>

<p>Land subsidence is downward, vertical movement of the earth. Land subsidence is permanent and irreversible. This is why it is critical to prevent it rather than try for measures afterwards.</p>
