<p>"An across-species statistical association [was found] between same-sex sexual behavior and social behavior for males and for females, and with intrasexual aggression for males," study author and behavioral ecology researcher at Estación Experimental de Zonas Aridas (EEZA-CSIC) in Spain, Jose&nbsp;M. Gómez, told Newsweek.</p>

<p>This could mean that same-sex sexual behaviour might serve as an adaptation to manage male-to-male aggression.</p>

<h2><strong>Advantages of same-sex behaviour</strong></h2>

<p>Same-sex sexual behaviour reportedly offers numerous advantages in over 250 mammal species. Vincent Savolainen, a professor of organismic biology, explained&nbsp;that it can facilitate the formation of coalitions among individuals, elevating their status within a group.</p>

<p>This, in turn, grants them greater access to potential mates and enhances reproductive success.</p>

<p>Surprisingly, same-sex behaviour does not hinder opposite-sex reproduction and, therefore, does not limit the number of offspring produced by a population, as per the study.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chinese authorities have banned a Mongolian theatre production by shutting down the power to the Ulaan Theatre in Hohhot, in the northern Inner Mongolia region, where the production was due to be staged.</p>

<p>In addition to shutting down power, Chinese authorities also blocked 130 production staff from entering the theatre and put the cast under constant surveillance.</p>

<p>Thousands of theatregoers&nbsp;who had purchased tickets to the performance were sent away without any valid reason. All this played out just 30 minutes before the first performance was set to begin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The production, titled "The Mongol Khan," is scheduled to open at the London Coliseum next month. The latest ban is part of a growing trend of cultural suppression by the Chinese government.</p>

<p>Mongolian artists and cultural workers have often voiced their concerns and&nbsp;are fighting to preserve their culture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The production team of 130 members, including six British nationals, were expelled from the theatre building where £2 million [$3.8 million] worth of set and technical equipment was set up,” the&nbsp;Mongol Khan spokeswoman said, adding,&nbsp;“The production team was also banned from wearing traditional Mongolian dress in public.”</p>

China bans Mongolian theatre production, disregarding cultural diversity

<p>India's law enforcement agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a search at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh as part of a money laundering investigation connected to the controversial Delhi liquor policy case.</p>

<p>ED officials arrived at the Delhi home of the Rajya Sabha MP early morning on Wednesday (Oct 4).&nbsp;The case revolves around the excise policy of the Delhi government in 2021, which was subsequently revoked. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also faced nearly nine hours of questioning in April as part of the investigation.</p>

<p>In February, former deputy chief minister of the AAP government in Delhi, Manish Sisodia, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the same case but he has consistently denied any wrongdoing.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Connections with businessman Dinesh Arora</strong></h2>

<p>Businessman Dinesh Arora, an approver in the case, alleged that Sanjay Singh introduced him to Manish Sisodia. The former Delhi deputy CM was the excise minister at the time.</p>

<p>Singh has already responded to the allegations.&nbsp;Earlier in May, he wrote a letter to Finance Secretary TV Somanathan, claiming that the ED director and assistant director had wrongly linked his name to the alleged liquor scam, damaging his public image and reputation.</p>

<p>Importantly, Singh was never named as an accused by the ED, which has filed three charge sheets in the case. He was neither summoned nor had his statement recorded in connection with the case, despite references to him in the chargesheets.</p>

<h2><strong>Allegations of corruption in liquor policy</strong></h2>

<p>The CBI alleged&nbsp;that liquor companies were involved in shaping the excise policy, which would have resulted in a 12 per cent&nbsp;profit for these firms. The agency claims that a liquor lobby, referred to as the "South Group," paid kickbacks in this matter.</p>

<p>In a legal showdown, a US federal agency has taken restaurant giant Chipotle to court, leveling accusations of religious harassment centred on a shocking incident at a Kansas branch in US state of Missouri. The manager reportedly forcibly removed an employee's hijab, a headscarf worn by Muslim women, media reports said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The lawsuit was filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a US agency responsible for enforcing and administering federal laws that prohibit discrimination in employment. It also checks for any sort of harassment in the workplace.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The lawsuit alleged that in 2021, an assistant manager at a Chipotle branch in Lenexa, Kansas, repeatedly harassed the employee by demanding that she reveal her hair, despite her repeated refusals. The situation escalated over several weeks until the manager physically grabbed and partially removed her hijab.</p>

<p>The EEOC's complaint asserted that the manager's persistent and "offensive" requests for the employee to remove her hijab, along with his attempt to forcibly remove it, created a "hostile" working environment based on religion. The agency further argued that these actions were "unwelcome, intentional, and severe", all of which are in violation of federal anti-discrimination laws.</p>

<h2><strong>Chipotle's response&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Laurie Schalow, Chipotle's chief corporate affairs officer, responded to the lawsuit by stating that the company encourages employees to report concerns, including through an anonymous hotline. “We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind and we have terminated the employee in question,” she reportedly said in an email.</p>

<p>The harassment began in July 2021 when the manager repeatedly asked the 19-year-old employee to remove her hijab, expressing a desire to see her hair.</p>

<p>According to the complaint, he made this demand at least 10 times over a month, with the employee consistently refusing on the grounds of her religious beliefs. Although the employee reported her discomfort to another supervisor, no further action was taken against the manager, as per the complaint.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Employee's resignation</strong></h2>

<p>The most distressing incident occurred in August 2021 when the manager allegedly reached out and partially pulled off the employee's hijab. Following this ugly experience, the employee gave her two weeks' notice.</p>

In a legal showdown, a US federal agency has taken restaurant giant Chipotle to court, leveling accusations of religious harassment centred on a shocking incident at a Kansas branch in US state of Missouri. The manager reportedly forcibly removed an employee's hijab, a headscarf worn by Muslim women, media reports said. The lawsuit was filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a US agency responsible for enforcing and administering federal laws that prohibit discrimination in employment. It also checks for any sort of harassment in the workplace. The lawsuit alleged that in 2021, an assistant manager at a Chipotle branch in Lenexa, Kansas, repeatedly harassed the employee by demanding that she reveal her hair, despite her repeated refusals. The situation escalated over several weeks until the manager physically grabbed and partially removed her hijab. The agency further argued that these actions were "unwelcome, intentional, and severe", all of which are in violation of federal anti-discrimination laws. Chipotle's response Laurie Schalow, Chipotle's chief corporate affairs officer, responded to the lawsuit by stating that the company encourages employees to report concerns, including through an anonymous hotline. “We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind and we have terminated the employee in question,” she reportedly said in an email. According to the complaint, he made this demand at least 10 times over a month, with the employee consistently refusing on the grounds of her religious beliefs. Although the employee reported her discomfort to another supervisor, no further action was taken against the manager, as per the complaint. Employee's resignation The most distressing incident occurred in August 2021 when the manager allegedly reached out and partially pulled off the employee's hijab. Following this ugly experience, the employee gave her two weeks' notice. This was unlike other non-Muslim employees who continued to be scheduled for work during their notice periods, as claimed in the lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed by the EEOC, further said that Chipotle violated federal civil rights laws protecting employees and job applicants from discrimination based on religion, race, ethnicity, sex, and national origin.
