<h2><strong>Pulsars as cosmic lighthouses</strong></h2>

<p>Pulsars emit beams of electromagnetic radiation that rotate like cosmic lighthouses. When these beams cross our solar system, we observe periodic flashes of radiation, known as pulses.</p>

<p>“On their outward journey, the electrons acquire energy and release it in the form of the observed radiation beams,” said Bronek Rudak from the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK PAN) in Poland, also a co-author.</p>

<p>One theory suggests that GRBs originate from the core of explosions triggered by events like the birth of a black hole or the collision of dense, spinning cores of collapsed stars.</p>

<p>However, due to the random nature of GRBs, in terms of their time of occurrence in the universe and the place where they happen, studying them has proven challenging.</p>

<h2><strong>Polar-2's significance</strong></h2>

<p>Polar-2 mission follows&nbsp;the success of its predecessor mission. The earlier mission was a collaboration between researchers from Switzerland, China, and Poland.</p>

<p>The focus of that mission was to shed light on the structure, magnetic fields, and emission mechanisms of GRBs.</p>

<h2><strong>Cause of the fire</strong></h2>

<p>As per local reports, the fire originated in the parking area of a seven-storey building. Locals reportedly said that the massive blaze is believed to have initially started with a cloth material that caught fire in the parking area. Subsequently, it spread to the entire vicinity.</p>

<p>The devastating fire was finally contained. Authorities started cooling operations to prevent any further potential fire. As the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, investigators are working to determine what led to the devastating tragedy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The dozens of individuals who were injured in the fire have been moved to two different hospitals. Twenty-five&nbsp;people have been moved to HBT Trauma Care Hospital, while 15 are receiving treatment at Cooper Hospital.</p>

<p>Media reports said that two of the injured sustained serious injuries. The name of the building where the tragic incident took place is named Jai Bhavani, which is on Goregaon's MG road. The fire department declared the building as 'level 2'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The fire engulfed everything that came in its way. Reports quoting officials said that the blaze spread through shops on the ground floor and also through the scrap material present there. Due to the massive blaze, people were left stuck on various floors including the terrace.</p>

<p>Reports suggest that the building has no firefighting system in place, an essential system that could have potentially averted the tragic deaths. Moreover, the building lift was also old. Smoke willowed through the lift duct, reports added, while giving details of the ground situation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The fire was extinguished at around&nbsp;6 am.</p>

<p>A Delhi court Thursday sent senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate for five days, a day after the anti-money laundering agency arrested him in the Delhi excise policy case.</p>

<p>Special Judge M K Nagpal remanded Singh in ED custody till Oct. 10 to enable the federal probe agency to interrogate him.</p>

<p>The AAP Rajya Sabha MP will be produced before the court on the expiry of his custody.</p>

<p>While being brought to the courtroom, Singh said his arrest was “an act of injustice” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose party was “going to lose the next Lok Sabha elections”.</p>

<p>Later, when the court asked him whether he wanted to say something, Singh claimed he was being treated unfairly.</p>

Now they have suddenly remembered… There's no separate law. I was not summoned even once. Why different law for me?” the AAP leader said rebutting the ED's claim he received Rs 2 crore from Dinesh Arora, a businessman accused in the case who has now turned an approver.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the hearing, the ED sought Singh's custody saying several people were yet to be examined and confronted with him. The agency said it also wanted to confront Singh with data extracted from his phone.</p>

<p>The Enforcement Directorate alleged Singh received Rs 3 crore in two tranches.</p>

<p>“The money was delivered to his residence. Dinesh Arora cross-checked with him also and he confirmed it… An investigation has revealed that two crore cash was given. A total of three crore money was given,” the ED said.</p>

<p>When the agency said it wanted to confront Singh with digital evidence extracted from his mobile phone, the court told its counsel it could be done even without taking him into custody.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Why do you want to confront him with the phone? You can extract the data even otherwise,” the judge said.</p>

<p>“There are separate agendas. DA (Dinesh Arora) has been in their hand for the last one and a half years. The statement was given earlier. Why it is being brought up now? Once you had the statement (of Arora), you did not call me for an explanation. You want to humiliate me by arresting me,” Mathur said.</p>

<p>Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) deteriorated on Thursday (Oct&nbsp;5). The 24-hour average was recorded at 177, which comes under the "moderate" category. The jump in the AQI level is not much and has gone up by just one unit as compared to the previous day's reading of 176 (moderate).&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, with the onset of winter and dropping temperatures, the AQI has been constantly deteriorating. Delhi’s AQI was 155 on Tuesday (Oct&nbsp;3) and 146 on Monday (Oct 2).</p>

<p>Just like last year, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), reportedly said it will depend on the Early Warning System (EWS) for Delhi to take pre-emptive action. Still, CAQM will have to wait for the AQI to get to the “poor” category to implement Stage 1. As per EWS’s forecast, the AQI is likely to be “moderate” on Friday (Oct 6) and could become “poor” on Saturday (Oct 7).&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per shocking reports citing a Telegram channel, it has been claimed that Russian secret service agents are plotting to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin. Coming against the backdrop of the prolonged Russia-Ukraine war, the channel which reportedly has close links to the security forces, makes a startling claim that some agents from "within their own ranks" are planning to take out Putin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The channel goes by the name VChK-OGPU and sheds light on what was being allegedly cooked inside the secret agents' ranks.</p>

<p>The channel said that things came to the fore during a meeting at karaoke club Honey, in Chekhov which is about 40 miles from the Russian capital city of Moscow. The channel quoted a source while uncovering the alleged plot.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“At some point, according to Yurchenko, the interlocutor showed him a red service ID and stated that he had a task ‘to remove Vladimir Putin,’” media reports said while citing the VChK-OGPU channel.</p>

<p>In response to Trump's decision to dismiss the lawsuit, Michael Cohen issued a statement on Thursday (Oct 5), describing the case as a "retaliatory" measure.&nbsp;"This case was nothing more than a retaliatory intimidation tactic, and his attempt to hide from routine discovery procedures confirms as much," the former attorney said in the statement.&nbsp;</p>
