<p>Card went on to unleash a horrifying massacre in Maine's Lewiston neighbourhood which left 18 people dead while injuring 13 others.</p>

<p>Now, this report of missed red flags by the police has left looming questions about the overlooked warning signs that if heeded to could have averted the bloodshed in the mass shooting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two local law enforcement chiefs reportedly disclosed that a statewide awareness alert had been issued in mid-September regarding Card. While serving as a firearms instructor he reportedly made threats against his military base and fellow soldiers.</p>

<p>“We added extra patrols, we did that for about two weeks. ... The guy never showed up,” said the police chief in Saco, Jack Clements who added that it was a “generic thing that came out saying, hey, you know, we’ve had some report that this guy’s made some veiled threats.”</p>

<p>Later, he disseminated an awareness alert to all law enforcement agencies across the state. The alert was issued after a sheriff's deputy visited Card's home, a visit which yielded nothing.</p>

<h2><strong>Threats by Maine shooter&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>It is unclear whether the threats in September were any different from the ones that Card made during a military training exercise near West Point, New York, in July.</p>

<p>At the time, Card had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks due to erratic behavior and reported "hearing voices and threats to shoot up" a military base.</p>

<p>Following an intensive two-day manhunt, Card was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot. Despite the prior threats, the FBI revealed that Card had not been on their radar.</p>

India abstains from vote on Jordan-led UNGA resolution that didn't mention Hamas

<p>An Indian Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra from the Trinamool Congress party (TMC) has found herself at the centre of a controversy surrounding the sharing of her Parliament login credentials with a businessman friend. In a big expose on Friday (Oct 28), Moitra claimed that she indeed provided her login ID and password to a businessman friend to allow submission of her pre-approved questions which she intended to ask in the lower house of Parliament.</p>

<p>This revelation is followed by a series of allegations against the MP that go far beyond just accusations of passwords sharing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The controversy was initially ignited when Nishikant Dubey, an MP of the ruling BJP, alleged in a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that Moitra had accepted "bribes" in exchange for posing questions in Parliament, especially targeting the rival Adani Group. Post the grave allegations, the row has been referred to as "cash-for-query".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dubey levelled the allegations citing documents shared by Lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Moitra's statements to India Today contradict the claims put forth by her businessman friend, Darshan Hiranandani, who resides in Dubai.</p>

<p>Hiranandani had previously issued a "sworn affidavit" in which he asserted that Moitra had supplied him with her Parliament login and password to post questions on her behalf.</p>

<p>The ensuing controversy has drawn significant attention and raised questions about the use of Parliament credentials for submitting questions to be asked in India's legislative body.</p>

<p>While confirming her much-debated act of password sharing, the TMC MP said that this was done to have someone from Hiranandani's office type in the questions she intended to ask in the Lok Sabha.</p>

<p>Rebutting claims by Hiranandani, Mahua Moitra clarified that the&nbsp;arrangement was for her team to type the questions and for her to verify and submit them.&nbsp;</p>

After putting the question, they would call me to inform and I would read all the questions in one go as I am always busy in my constituency. After putting the question, an OTP (one-time password) comes on my mobile phone. I would give that OTP and only then is the question submitted. So, the idea that Darshan would log in to my ID and put in questions of his own is ludicrous," the lawmaker said during the interview.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In response to allegations from the BJP MP, the TMC leader&nbsp;said,&nbsp;"Now that the cash-for-query has fallen flat, this is being made out to be some great issue of national security. Mr. Dubey has gone to the press and said that it is a national security issue. The NIC login has no rules as to who can have your login."</p>

<p>Additionally, she called for Darshan Hiranandani to be present before the ethics panel and provide a "verified list" of all alleged gifts and favours she claimed to have received from him.</p>

<p>According to Dr. Weller, this information opens up the possibility that billions of years ago, Venus might have been a place where life could have thrived.</p>

<p>The presence of plate tectonics implied that Venus would have been "cooler&nbsp;and then there would have been more liquid water,"&nbsp;Dr. Weller said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rather than identifying visible surface features like the San Andreas fault, the researchers focused on the composition of the atmosphere, specifically nitrogen.</p>

<p>When rocky planets such as Earth and Venus form, nitrogen gets trapped in minerals. However, during volcanic eruptions, these minerals melt, breaking chemical bonds and allowing nitrogen to escape into the atmosphere, where it remains.</p>

<p>To reach their conclusions, Dr. Weller and his colleagues from Brown University and Purdue University employed computer simulations to explore two tectonic models.</p>

<p>The first, known as the "stagnant lid," applies to worlds like Mars and the Earth's moon, where the outer crust forms a solid, immobile shell, trapping most gases beneath it.</p>
