Zipair president Shingo Nishida said on Wednesday that the company is ditching the logo to avoid anyone mistakenly thinking his business is in favour of the bloody conflict.

"Some people might feel that way when they see it without any explanation," he told reporters, according to Kyodo News.

Zipair's new logo -- a green, black and white geometric design -- will from Saturday replace the black 'Z' currently on the tail fin of its planes, the reports said.

Zipair, a subsidiary of Japan Airlines, links Narita International Airport near Tokyo with Bangkok, Seoul, Honolulu, Singapore and Los Angeles. The airline was launched in 2020.

This is obviously triggered by human activity, and we now see that this new climate that we are experiencing is comprised of all these kinds of intensification, which brings us this stifling heat." Proust added

Periods of intense heat, which is happening more frequently and earlier in the summer season while lasting longer, are rooted in climate change.

France braces for heatwave in coming days, as temperatures cross 40 degrees Celcius

In order to replace Russian energy imports, Israel and Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with an aim to boost natural gas exports to Europe as supply chain disruptions due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war are causing shortages.

The framework deal signed with the European Union (EU) will be the first to allow "significant" exports of Israeli gas to Europe, Israel's energy ministry said. Under the agreement, the EU will encourage European companies to participate in Israeli and Egyptian exploration tenders.

European Commission President, Ursula Von Der Leyen says, “And indeed, we’re experiencing a war on European soil and therefore we are now in the process of completely diversifying our energy supplies away from Russian fossil fuels to other trustworthy suppliers, and you are these trustworthy suppliers.”

Some Israeli gas is already sent by pipeline to liquefaction plants on Egypt's Mediterranean coast, from where it is re-exported as liquefied natural gas (LNG). Officials say they expect shipments of LNG from Egypt to Europe to increase under the agreement, though they have said it would likely take a couple of years before the exports can be significantly expanded.

You have the sun, you have the wind, you have partially the hydropower, so these are the pre-audition resources that will feed the global clean energy of the future.” 
Egypt is also a gas producer, but its exports have been limited by rising domestic demand.

The agreement recognizes that natural gas will have a central role in the EU's energy market until 2030. Following that, the use of natural gas is expected to decline in line with its commitment to becoming a zero-emission economy by 2050.

United States President Joe Biden announced a fresh infusion of $1 billion in weapons for Ukraine on Wednesday. Sources familiar with the package said it included anti-ship rocket systems, artillery rockets, and rounds for howitzers. In a phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Biden told the embattled leader about the new weaponry.

"I informed President Zelenskiy that the United States is providing another $1 billion in security assistance for Ukraine, including additional artillery and coastal defence weapons, as well as ammunition for the artillery and advanced rocket systems," Biden said in a statement after the 41-minute call with Zelensky.

The president also announced an additional $225 million in humanitarian assistance to help people in Ukraine, including by supplying safe drinking water, critical medical supplies and healthcare, food, shelter, and cash for families to purchase essential items.

The aid packages, which come as U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin is meeting with allies in Brussels, could be split into two categories: transfer of excess defence articles from U.S. stocks and other weapons being funded by the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), a separate congressionally authorised program.

The rise comes as the U.S. Supreme Court is set to rule this month in a case widely expected to end or severely curtail the right to the procedure, as indicated by a leaked draft of the court's opinion.

The increase means that the impact of overturning the court's decision in the 1973 Roe v. Wade case, which legalized abortion at the federal level in the United States, would be bigger than anticipated, said researcher Rachel Jones, co-author of the study.

"In the 20-something years I’ve been doing research on abortion at Guttmacher, this is the first time we’ve had an increase in abortion over two years," Jones said in an interview.

In 2020, the report shows, there were 930,160 abortions in the United States, up from 862,320 in 2017. Slightly more than one in five pregnancies - or 20.6% - ended in abortion in 2020, up from 18.4% in 2017.

The changes varied by state. Mississippi, for example, had a 40% increase in the number of abortions performed, while Oklahoma showed a jump of 103% during the three-year period.

By comparison, abortions in Missouri dropped by 96%, from 4,710 in 2017 to 170 in 2020, as all but one provider left the state. Neighbouring Illinois showed a 25% increase in abortions, indicating that women from Missouri may have sought abortions there.

It was not immediately clear what drove the increase in abortions. One factor may have been an expansion of coverage in many states under the Medicaid program, which provides health care for poor and low-income Americans, the report said.

Another possibility is that some women lost access to contraceptive care under restrictions in public programs during Republican Donald Trump's presidency, which may have led to more unintended pregnancies, the report said.

The pandemic was not a major driver of unplanned pregnancies or abortion, Jones said. However, as COVID-19 cases flooded New York, many clinics cut their hours, possibly reducing access to abortion and leading to a smaller increase in the state than in other parts of the country over three years.

In Texas, conservative lawmakers deemed abortion a non-essential service during the height of the pandemic, leading to a slight drop in 2020 over the prior year. Over the three years, however, abortions in Texas increased by 5%.

In 2021, Texas enacted a law banning abortion after fetal cardiac activity can be detected, generally about six weeks after the woman's last menstrual period. The law has led many women to seek abortion in other states.

He warned the oil industry of unspecified emergency measures over high fuel prices at the heart of 40-year high inflation.&nbsp;

Average fuel prices are now $5 a gallon for drivers in the United States, up from $3 a year ago, and the spike is reverberating through the entire economy, helping to sink Biden's approval ratings to below 40 per cent.

The letter, sent to seven major oil corporations, was Biden's most direct salvo yet in a campaign to blame the industry for stoking price increases.&nbsp;

Average fuel prices are now $5 a gallon for drivers in the United States, up from $3 a year ago, and the spike is reverberating through the entire economy, helping to sink Biden's approval ratings to below 40 per cent.

"Refinery profit margins well above normal being passed directly onto American families are not acceptable," Biden wrote in the letter to executives from Shell, Marathon Petroleum Corp, Valero Energy Corp, ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, Chevron and BP.

Biden said the economy is in "a time of war," referring to the global fallout from President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and subsequent sanctions against energy exporter Russia.

"My administration is prepared to use all reasonable and appropriate federal government tools and emergency authorities to increase refinery capacity and output in the near term, and to ensure that every region of this country is appropriately supplied," Biden said, without detailing what kind of actions he could take.

Biden has regularly lambasted the oil industry for what he says is a failure to tap into already approved wells and increase output.&nbsp;

However, the letter, accompanied by a graph depicting rising producer profits, marked an escalation in the war of words.

In the letter, he asked for an "explanation of any reduction in your refining capacity since 2020 and any concrete ideas that would address the immediate inventory, price, and refining capacity issues in the coming months, including transportation measures to get the refined product to market."

"The crunch that families are facing deserves immediate action. Your companies need to work with my Administration to bring forward concrete, near-term solutions that address the crisis," he wrote. 
Biden's Democratic Party risks a heavy defeat, losing control of Congress, in the November elections and polls show that fears over the economy dominate.

As quoted by The Guardian, Prof Anton Emmanuel, the head of workforce race equality standard at NHS England, says, “No one should experience racism, discrimination or prejudice at work, it is completely unacceptable and NHS organisations should take a zero-tolerance approach to all and any form of discrimination.”

Emmanuel said “decisive actions” had recently been taken to address inequalities in the NHS and progress was being made, but he also conceded that “we know there is still more work to do”.

A study on ‘Exceptional warming over the Barents area’ studying surface air temperature (SAT) data from Global reanalyses points towards maximum warming over the northern Barents area.&nbsp;

Researchers studied the warming over the past 20–40 years based on new available SAT observations and a quality-controlled comprehensive SAT dataset from the northern archipelagos in the Barents Sea.

They identified a statistically significant record-high annual warming of up to 2.7 °C per decade, with a maximum in autumn of up to 4.0 °C per decade. The researchers said the heating in this region was an “early warning” of what could happen across the rest of the Arctic.

As quoted by The Guardian, Prof Michael Mann, from Pennsylvania State University, US, says, “Sea ice loss and warming in the Barents Sea, in particular, have been isolated in previous work as being especially relevant to changes in winter-time atmospheric circulation that are tied to extreme winter weather events.”&nbsp;

“If this mechanism is valid, and there’s some debate over that, then this is yet another way climate change could be increasing certain types of extreme weather events [and which] isn’t well captured by current models,” he added.

Research points toward exceptional heating in Arctic area

Making the announcement, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the ‘ability to securely switch between phones’ is now being added to WhatsApp.

If you’re moving to a different type of phone you can keep your account information including your profile photo, about, individual chats, group chats, and settings.

To transfer chat history, after you have selected the "Move data from Android" option, your new iPhone will look for the Move to iOS app on your older device and create a peer-to-peer connection.&nbsp;

Here, you will be able to choose the apps, files, contacts and more to bring over to your iPhone, and starting today the option for WhatsApp will join that list.
