The declaration means that the WHO designates the virus outbreak as a significant threat to global health that warrants an international response. According to WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, more than 16,000 cases of the virus have been reported from 75 countries across the globe. “We have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly, through new modes of transmission, about which we understand too little. For all of these reasons, I have decided that the global monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern." said Dr Tedros. WHO director-general took the call himself However, it is interesting to note that the Health Regulations Emergency Committee which had remained undivided on declaring the outbreak a 'global emergency' in a meeting last month had not differed in its stance in the Saturday meeting as well. Nine members were against and six were in favour of the declaration. Reportedly, the WHO director-general, in an unusual departure from the protocol, took the call himself and declared an emergency anyway. It is pertinent to note that the last time WHO issued such a global health emergency, it was for COVID-19, back in early 2020. The entire planet was soon brought to a standstill as the virus created havoc. While WHO has sounded the alarm with its declaration, it cannot mandate the countries and their governments to swing into action immediately. All WHO can do is issue guidelines and give its expertise as well as recommendations to the member countries. The final call of action resides with the national governments. There were 2,593 confirmed monkeypox cases in the USA. Moreover, as reported by WION on Friday, US health officials detected two cases of monkeypox in children while the Centers for Disease Control Prevention and Control (CDC) stated that kids under 8 were at 'increased risk'. The virus has spread rapidly in Europe and United States after it was first detected in May. Some experts are of the view that eighteen of the plays in the First Folio are not known to have been previously printed, such as 'The Tempest', 'Twelfth Night' and 'Measure for Measure' and more.&nbsp;

If the book was not collated, iconic dialogues such as, "If music be the food of love, play on," from 'Twelfth Night' and, "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears," from Julius Caesar would have been lost forever.&nbsp;

This is not the first time that one of the original copies of the First Folio has been sold. As reported by WION, in 2020, another copy had sold for $9.97 million, smashing the previous high of $6.16 million, set way back in 2001.&nbsp;

Real-life superhero Nick Bostic, 25, is making headlines across the globe for his superhuman effort to rescue five children,&nbsp;not once but twice from a blazing fire. Reportedly, a few days back, Nick was out for a drive at night in&nbsp;Indiana's&nbsp;Lafayette area when he saw a two-storey house engulfed in flames.&nbsp;

With no cell phone on him and no opportunity to call&nbsp; 911, Nick, a pizza delivery boy by profession, rushed into the house and started with the rescue act.

Reportedly, the house owners,&nbsp;David and Tiera Barrett were out for dinner while their 18-year-old daughter&nbsp;Seionna, babysitted&nbsp;three siblings, aged 1, 6 and 13. One of the siblings had invited their friend to the house as well. In total, five children were in the house, when the fire started, the cause of which is still unknown.&nbsp;

Seionna first spotted the fire and ran upstairs to grab her siblings. However, by the time she ran downstairs, Nick had already entered the house from the back gate.

Racing through the smoke, Nick encountered four of the five kids on the stairs and escorted them safely out of the smoke and house. However, he quickly quizzed the kids if anybody was left back in there.

Nick goes into the house for a second time

Upon receiving info that 6-year-old Kaylani was still inside, Nick, without missing a heartbeat, scurried into the flaming house for a second time, wrapping his shirt around his mouth and nose to minimize smoke inhalation.

Not knowing where the little kid was, Nick used his ears to zone in on the location. After looking around, he&nbsp;found Kaylani and 'hightailed' upstairs to jump out of the window. Nick did fell while going upstairs but composed himself and jumped out of the window, making sure that the little&nbsp;Kaylani was on the opposite side of his arms at the time of impact.

The body cam footage from the firefighters on the spot shows Nick running outside with the wailing kid in his arms. After passing the baby safely to firefighters, Nick crashes on the sidewalk and asks for oxygen. His hands could be seen burnt and cut due to the events inside the house.&nbsp;

"I can barely breathe," Bostic says in the video. "Is the baby OK? Please tell me the baby's OK."

Thankfully, the girl only suffered minor cuts and Bostic was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis where he spent two days before being discharged.&nbsp;

David Barrett, father of the kids thanked Nick by remarking, "Whatever brought him there at that moment.&nbsp;I feel like he was God-sent. He saved something that was priceless."

The family has stayed in touch with Nick and even accepted him as part of the family.&nbsp;"They (Barrett's) have welcomed me into their family as their own which is super cool I'm super honored for it," said Nick.&nbsp;

After Nick's heroic deed went viral on the realms of social media platforms, the good samaritans of the internet started a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/nick-bostic-hero">fundraiser</a> campaign to show their appreciation for him. So far, the campaign has collected over 500k for Nick.

Reportedly, in the controversial video, one of Ajmal’s aides,&nbsp;having a speech impediment, recited a few verses of the Quran in a funny manner. The video was made for humorous purposes and didn’t intend to insult the holy book of Muslims.

Mangaluru Police has arrested eight students of St Aloysius College and produced them before the juvenile justice court after a video went viral on social media where a boy and girl could be seen kissing in a flat while their friends cheered them. All eight have been booked under Sections 4, 8, 12, 13, 17 of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and Sections 66 (E) and 67 of the IT Act.

Reportedly, the 20-second video was filmed a few months ago but was only recently posted on social media platforms. The girl with the ID card visible in the video appears to have lodged a complaint of sexual assault with the police.&nbsp;

Apparently, the girl knew the boys and the other girl present in the apartment. They were playing a game of ‘truth or dare’ in a rented apartment&nbsp;near Light House Hill Road in Mangaluru. However, after the video was filmed, the eight boys allegedly sexually assaulted the two girls, including the girl who kissed the boy.&nbsp;

These boys filmed the sexual acts and continued to threaten the girls. However, after one of the boys, who captured the original video uploaded the clipping on the WhatsApp group of the college, the skeletons started to tumble out of the closet.

Reportedly, the residents living in the high-rise residential flat schemes near the bank of the river have to hold onto their dear life while stepping out&nbsp;as the flooded river means that crocodiles reach the gates of their buildings.

Reportedly, the residents living in the high-rise residential flat schemes near the bank of the river have to hold onto their dear life while stepping out as the flooded river means that crocodiles reach the gates of their buildings. It is estimated that the river, which intersects Vadodara, is home to over 300 crocodiles. After a spell of heavy rainfall, the river gets flooded; meaning, the crocodiles seek a place for shelter and generally end up in stormwater drains and underground drainage lines. Several areas of Vadodara can spot crocodiles as now they are inside drainage lines." Vadodara has a stormwater drainage network that covers almost 410 kilometres. However, in some cases, these crocodiles reach the doors of the locals and threaten to bite or drag them. On an average, the authorities get around 25-30 calls of crocodiles being spotted every day during monsoon. While the crocodiles are a threat to the humans of the region, the same is also true for the reptiles. Earlier this month, a crocodile was rescued from the Puja Garden area of Vadodara after getting stuck in one of the stormwater drain covers.
