<p>The body of the Indian Army soldier who was driving a truck when it fell into Teesta River last week has been recovered. A joint operation by a team of the Army, National Disaster Response Force and Disaster Management Group of West Bengal Police divers managed to recover the missing body.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Thakor Rasangji Savaji. The body has been taken over by the Army after post-mortem and is currently on its way to Savaji's hometown of Silipur in the western Indian state of Gujarat.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The accused apparently believed that the sacrifice would appease the soul of the deceased,” added Barah.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to authorities, it was 64-year-old Shanti Shaw that was decapitated with a machete in 2019 at the Kamakhya Temple - one of the primary Shakti peeths (sacred place of eternal power) in Hinduism.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She had travelled to the temple to pray and attend the famous Ambubachi Mela before her tragic demise made the news. The body without the head was discovered on June 19-20, 2019. <p>Hood was elected last November but soon ran into troubles after members of the public informed him that ChatGPT returned results which framed him as a guilty party in a foreign bribery scandal involving Reserve Bank of Australia's subsidiary in the early 2000s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, Hood worked for the subsidiary named "Note Printing Australia"&nbsp;but he was the one who informed authorities about the bribes being paid to foreign officials. Hood was never charged with any crime, the lawyers representing him informed the media.&nbsp;</p>

<p>His lawyers have written a letter of concern to OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT which is based in the US city of San Francisco and backed by tech behemoth Microsoft.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It would potentially be a landmark moment in the sense that it's applying this defamation law to a new area of artificial intelligence and publication in the IT space," said&nbsp;James Naughton, a partner at Hood's law firm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It's very difficult for somebody to look behind that to say 'how does the algorithm come up with that answer?'" said Naughton. "It's very opaque."</p>

<p>If Hood goes ahead with the suit, he will be the first person in the world to have sued the AI application.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A sea of Pheu Thai supporters, wearing T-shirts in the party's signature colour red, tramped into a football stadium on the northern edge of Bangkok to see Paetongtarn anointed alongside businessman Srettha Thavisin and party strategist Chaikasem Nitisiri.</p>

<p>Paetongtarn, who has been campaigning energetically despite being eight months pregnant, said she relished the fight.</p>

<p>"It is going to be a challenge but we will go and communicate as much as possible," she told reporters.</p>

<p>The parties for the May 14 vote fall into two broad camps -- those backed by Thailand's military and royalist establishment, and more reformist opposition<strong>&nbsp;</strong>groups with Pheu Thai at their head.</p>

<p>Thaksin, a 73-year-old telecoms tycoon, is one of the most influential and controversial figures in modern Thai history, still loved by his mainly working class and rural supporters but loathed by the country's royalist-military elite.</p>

<p>Ousted as prime minister in a 2006 coup, he lives in Dubai to avoid corruption charges he says are politically motivated.</p>

<p>Paetongtarn is a newcomer to frontline politics but she has energised Thaksin's base.</p>

<p>A constant presence on the campaign trail, she has told crowds her pregnancy would not prevent her from rallying supporters to oust Prayut.</p>

<p>"I am an old face of Pheu Thai, but I think it will be cute to have a woman leader," said 67-year-old Bangkokian Chuthamas Thriwarin.</p>

<p>"People who think pregnant women or mothers can't be leaders are idiots," she said, gesticulating furiously.</p>

<p>Prayut has insisted the kingdom needs an experienced hand but he has struggled to win over voters, leaving him trailing both Pheu Thai and the reformist Move Forward Party.</p>

<p>Paetongtarn's aunt Yingluck, Thailand's first woman premier, was dogged throughout her rule by perceptions that she was little more than her brother's stooge and was eventually ousted in 2014.</p>

<p>To avoid a repeat with Paetongtarn, Puangthong said this time the party might use her during the campaign but ultimately push another less controversial candidate as their main choice for leader -- most likely Srettha.</p>

<p>The youngest of Thaksin's three children and educated in Thailand and Britain, Paetongtarn managed the hotel branch of her family's real estate business before stepping into politics.</p>

<p>"The second part of the truth - In our arguments, you are inviting the people to comment on you. Then more and more people are tempted to comment. We also need to stop giving generous invitations to the world saying there are problems in India, and (urging) America and the world (by saying), why are you standing by doing nothing? So if somebody from here goes and says why are you standing by and saying nothing, then obviously they are going to comment. Part of the problem is them, and part of the problem is us. And I think both need fixing."</p>

<p>Notably, earlier this week, the US state department issued a statement saying Washington was 'watching' the matter whilst issuing a sermon on 'democratic values' to New Delhi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Respect for the rule of law and judicial independence is a cornerstone of any democracy. We are watching Mr Gandhi's case in Indian courts and we engage with the Government of India on our shared commitment to democratic values, including freedom of expression," said Vedant Patel, the US state department's main deputy spokesperson.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We have taken note of the verdict of first instance against the Indian opposition politician Rahul Gandhi as well as the suspension of his parliamentary mandate. To our knowledge, Mr Gandhi is in a position to appeal the verdict, " said a German foreign ministry spokesperson.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Eight people including two children were found dead in the Saint Lawrence River near the Canada-US border on Thursday. Now, a family in the Mehsana district of the western Indian state of Gujarat has claimed that the Indians among the eight dead may have been their kin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Officials of the Mehsana district administration said some village residents approached the collector and requested that arrangements be made to retrieve the bodies of the four deceased.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is confirmed that four members of a family from Manekpur village in Vijapur taluka of Mehsana went to Canada on a visitor's visa and tried to cross the river. The villagers approached us seeking help to bring back their bodies, which we have reported to the state government," said an official.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to The Hindu report, Pravin Chaudhary, a farmer, his wife Daksha, their son Mit, and daughter Vidhi had reached Canada a few weeks ago on a tourist visa. They were attempting to enter the US illegally by undertaking the risky boat journey across the river.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jasubhai Chaudhary, a resident of Manekpur village claimed it was his brother that died in the accident after repeated phone calls to reach him went blank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Two months ago, my brother, his wife and two children went to Canada on a visitors' visa. Yesterday morning I learnt about the death of members of a family from India in Canada. I tried to contact my brother but was not able to do so. This caused suspicion that they were our family members,"&nbsp;Chaudhary was quoted as saying by PTI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report added that a local agent was involved in human smuggling had sold the dream of living in the US to&nbsp;Pravin and his family.&nbsp;</p>
