<p>British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spent as much as $617,249 (£500,000) in under a fortnight on private jet trips, government data has shown. No sooner was the data released, opposition parties cornered Sunak saying he remains out of touch while ordinary Britons face a grave cost-of-living crisis.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The numbers were released by the cabinet office and detailed that Sunak spent £108,000 on a jet to travel to and from the COP27 summit in Egypt last year. A week later, the 10, Downing Street resident jetted off to the southeast Asian country of Indonesia to attend the G20 summit in Bali. The total cost of the round trip came about to £340,000.</p>

<p>In early December 2022, Sunak embarked on a day trip to Latvia and Estonia where the cost of the jet came down to £62,000. The data showed that another £20,000 was spent on Sunak's accommodation, meals and visas - throughout the mentioned trips.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Liberal Democrats slammed Sunak for the spending and said, "This is a shocking waste of taxpayer’s money at a time when most people are struggling to pay their bills or put food on the table. Yet again this Conservative government is completely out of touch."</p>

<p>In a statement, the Metropolitan Museum of Art said it was reviewing its dealings with the 'suspected' dealers and that it had been in touch with the Government of India to 'resolve' the matter.</p>

<p>“The Museum is committed to the responsible acquisition of archaeological art and applies rigorous provenance standards both to new acquisitions and to works long in its collection. The Museum is actively reviewing the history of antiquities from suspect dealers. The Museum values highly its long-standing relationships with the government of India and is pleased to resolve this matter," read the statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Met added it had 'contacted Homeland Security about its works from Kapoor in 2015' and was 'pleased to be acting on this matter as a result of the criminal investigation into Subhash Kapoor by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to reports, Justice Felicia A. Mennin of the NY Supreme Court last month issued the search warrant against 15 items, supplied by Kapoor to the museum. She had given 10 days to the NY Police Department to seize the artefacts. However,&nbsp;before NYPD could proceed, the Met announced it was handing over the artefacts to their country of origin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The items include an 11th-century sandstone Celestial Dancer (Apsara) from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, valued north of $1 million and a first-century BCE Yakshi Terracotta from the eastern Indian state of West Bengal amongst others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Over 13 summers ago, Coral Amayi lost her digital camera while rafting in a river in the western US state of Colorado. Little did she know that a good samaritan in 2023 would not only find her camera but also return it - with the photo memories still intact.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Spencer Greiner, a local hobby fisherman embarked on a fishing trip on March 14 in the Animas River. While walking around, Greiner stumbled upon the camera -&nbsp;rusted and looking beyond any salvation.</p>

<p>“The fund is an essential part of building back trust after 30 years of failed acknowledgement of the need for finance specifically allocated to address loss and damage resulting from unmitigated emissions and inadequate adaptation support,” said Christopher Bartlett, Vanuatu's lead climate negotiator.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from Vanuatu, Pakistan's climate minister Sherry Rehman passionately batted for the proposal. Rehman's country faced one of the deadliest floods in its history last year. In the lead-up to the COP27 summit, Rehman was one of the few voices that openly questioned the global north and demanded reparations.</p>

<p>“There is so much loss and damage with so little reparations to countries that contributed so little to the world’s carbon footprint that obviously the bargain made between the global north and global south is not working," said Rehman.</p>

<p>Two US Army Black Hawk helicopters crashed during a routine training operation in the southeastern state of Kentucky on Wednesday, Governor Andy Beshear informed. Local media reports mentioned that at least nine soldiers were killed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The army crew members of the 101st Airborne Division were flying two HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters around 10:00 PM ET (0200 GMT)&nbsp;in Kentucky's Trigg County airbase, located on the&nbsp;Kentucky-Tennessee border&nbsp;when the accident transpired.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"At approximately 10 p.m. yesterday, two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) helicopters crashed in Trigg County, Kentucky. The crewmembers were flying two HH60 Blackhawk helicopters during a routine training mission when the incident occurred," US Army Fort Campbell said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It added that the "status of the crew members" was&nbsp;unknown at the&nbsp;time. "The command is currently focused on caring for the service members and their families. More information will be released as it becomes available. The incident is under investigation."&nbsp;</p>

<p>An Albanian man living in UK's Liverpool has gone viral on social media platforms after he was pictured giving the slip to law enforcement officers. 32-year-old Etmond Lika had been accused of growing cannabis in his home. When officers reached his place to arrest him, Lika climbed through the skylight and hid on the roof of the property with a police officer peering outside unaware.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prosecutor Christopher Hopkins informed that a locksmith was called to change the front door lock at an address at Stanley Road, Kirkdale in February when he noticed the cannabis installations. Lika, who had crossed the English Channel in a small boat last year was offered £100 a day to live at the 'cannabis growing' property.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the locksmith got suspicious, he informed the police. Later in the afternoon, the police converged on the property and began a thorough search operation. The police soon found out that in at least six rooms, over 200 plants of cannabis were being grown, in what Hopkins termed a 'sophisticated operation'.<br />

<p>But after years of war, the Damascus government has regained control of most of the country and Syria's main frontlines have largely frozen, putting many foreign fighters out of job.</p>

<p>"In the end, I opened this sushi restaurant," the goateed man told AFP, standing near a banner displaying a fish, with slogans in Arabic, English and Russian.</p>

<p>Wearing a warm vest, and with a dark winter cap on his head, Shakhbanov said he fought alongside jihadist factions and the Faylaq al-Sham rebel group until about five years ago.</p>

<p>Faylaq al-Sham is a Sunni Islamist group that has acted as Turkey's proxy during several Turkish military campaigns on Syrian soil. It has also been the source of pro-Ankara mercenaries sent to battle in Libya on the side of the UN-recognised government.</p>

<p>The group fought fierce battles against the Russian-backed Syrian regime in Aleppo, Idlib and Latakia provinces, and is considered close to the Syrian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.</p>

<p>Shakhbanov said he had lived in countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, and was inspired to open "Sushi Idlib" after sampling Japanese cuisine during his travels.</p>

<p>The restaurant at first struggled to attract customers in the impoverished enclave where Japanese food is an oddity, but Shakhbanov bills his seaweed rolls as "affordable".</p>

<p>A California roll sells for 60 Turkish lira ($3), double the price of a large shawarma sandwich more familiar to local residents.</p>

<p>He said he now has about a dozen regulars and hopes to attract more customers by adding fried dishes to the menu.</p>

<p>But Shakhbanov, married to a Syrian woman and with two young daughters, said he is ready to leave the sushi behind and taste combat again should divided rebel factions agree on a military strategy.</p>
