<p>In a video posted on X, Isabel Casado, who is a supervisor with Madrid's emergency services, said, "The blaze broke out at around 7 am (0600 GMT) at the residence which was home to around 40 people."&nbsp;</p>

<p>She further added that one of the injured, a woman, was in critical condition due to burns while the others needed treatment for smoke inhalation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) has said it will provide Euro one million in support to&nbsp;Zambia&nbsp;in response to the ongoing&nbsp;cholera&nbsp;epidemic, which is putting around 3.5 million people at risk.</p>

<p>The emergency funding will support humanitarian partners UNICEF and the WHO in their efforts to address immediate and critical needs related to health, water, hygiene, and sanitation, as per the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).</p>

<p>As of January 31, 2024, the cumulative number of&nbsp;cholera&nbsp;cases in the country stood at 16,526 with 613 deaths. There is a high fatality rate of close to 4 per cent, with most of the cases and deaths reported in Lusaka Province.</p>

<p>As the rainy season in the country is expected to continue until May, further floods due to heavy rains in Lusaka's urban and peri-urban areas could re-ignite the spread of&nbsp;cholera&nbsp;cases.</p>

<p>Deceased Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny's colleague said on Saturday (Feb 17) that Russian authorities told Navalny's mother that he died due to "sudden death syndrome", reported Reuters. The news report also said that authorities indicated they would hand over Navalny's body after investigation was complete.</p>

<p>Navalny (47) fell unconscious and died on Friday inside 'Polar Wolf' penal colony located around 1900 kilometres northwest of Moscow. Navalny was serving a three-decade sentence in the penal colony in Kharp.</p>

Trouble for Sunak? Over 100 MPs could resign to avoid election embarrassment: Report

<p>Italy's communications watchdog AGCOM said on Friday (Feb 16) that it has compelled TikTok to remove some videos showing a dangerous 'French scar challenge' that has gone viral among youngsters in the country.</p>

<p>The latest online trend involves pinching on cheek to leave a lasting bruise on the cheekbone. The challenge had become popular among the Italian youth last year. Popularity of this dangerous practice had prompted investigation from antitrust authority in the country.</p>

<p>AGCOM said that it directive to TikTok was first implementation&nbsp;of rules passed in December. These rules allow the Italian watchdog to order online platforms to remove "harmful content" with an aim to protect consumers and minors. The watchdog said that TikTok removed the videos within five days as stipulated by the rules</p>

<p>TikTok, the massively popular short-video-sharing app, is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company.</p>

<p>The app, along with American tech giants like Meta are facing heat from regulators from around the world to take steps for protection of children from harmful content.</p>

<p>Navalny was imprisoned in early 2021 after returning to Russia from Germany, where he was recovering from a deadly poisoning attack with Novichok, which is a Soviet-era nerve agent.</p>

<p>He was sentenced to 19 years in prison in a string of cases on charges that were widely condemned by independent rights groups and in the West as a retaliation for his opposition to the Kremlin.</p>

<h2><strong>Mysterious disappearance</strong></h2>

<p>In December 2023, Navalny's lawyers reported losing contact with the imprisoned Russian opposition leader and said that his whereabouts were not known.</p>

<p>His lawyers had said that they made several attempts to get access to two penal colonies near Moscow where he was believed to be kept, but they were informed that the 47-year-old was neither at IK-6 nor at IK-7.</p>

<p>However, after two weeks, the staunch Kremlin critic released a statement saying that he was fine after a "pretty exhausting" 20-day transfer to a penal colony beyond the Arctic Circle.&nbsp;</p>
