<p>It also added that Kandula may have been wearing&nbsp;wireless earbuds that could have diminished her hearing.</p>

<p>Ukraine in a briefing before Russia’s statement said that their troops were repelling attacks near the village and continuing to “contain the enemy.”</p>

<p>On Wednesday alone, 7,813 trainee doctors had not shown up for work, a five-fold increase since the protests began on Monday, according to Park.</p>

<p>A recent plan proposed by the government to increase the number of medical students in a bid to boost healthcare staffing in remote areas of the country, as well as meet the demands of one of the world’s most rapidly ageing societies has led to widespread protests and criticism.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The government accused trainee doctors of putting their rights before the lives of patients. “The basic calling of medical professionals is to protect the health and lives of the people, and any group action that threatens this cannot be justified,” said Park.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As the protests grew, on Wednesday, South Korea’s general hospitals which heavily rely on trainees for emergency operations and surgeries were reportedly left paralysed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cancer patients and pregnant women needing C-sections have seen procedures cancelled or delayed, as per local media reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Around a third and a half of scheduled surgeries at the five major hospitals have reportedly been cancelled due to the walkout.&nbsp;</p>

<p>South Korea’s government has argued that the reforms are essential citing the low number of doctors in the country and the ageing population.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lyudmila Navalnaya, the mother of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has filed a lawsuit in the Arctic city of Salekhard, challenging the refusal to release her son's body, Russia's state news agency TASS&nbsp;reported on Wednesday (Feb 21).</p>

<p>Citing court officials, the state media reported that a closed-door hearing is scheduled for March 4.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She had urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to hand over her son's body after his death five days ago in an Arctic jail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>US President Joe Biden's dog Commander reportedly bit US Secret Service agents in at least 24 incidents before he was removed from the White House, new documents reveal.</p>

<p>The newly released United States Secret Service (USSS) documents, which came out to the public through Freedom of Information requests, showed that there were nearly 24 occasions where the German shepherd either bit or attempted to attack Secret Service staff members or others between October 2022 and July 2023.</p>

<p>These incidents include members of the Secret Service being bitten on the forearm, wrist, waist, elbow, shoulder, thigh and chest.</p>

<p>Biden's pet dog left the White House in October 2023 following an incident where a Secret Service agent was immediately rushed for medical treatment following a severe bite.</p>

<p>In June 2023, one of the agents required stitches on the forearm after a "deep bite" by the dog.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In another incident that took place in July 2023, an agent developed a severe deep open wound and needed six stitches after being bitten in the hand by the dog.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also lost a significant amount of blood due to the dog bite.</p>

<p>An unnamed senior agent had in an email, suggested that agents safeguarding Biden and his family "must be creative to ensure our own personal safety".</p>

<p>According to the British maritime security firm, Ambrey, the vessel in question is a Palau-flagged, United Kingdom-owned general cargo ship which was headed to the Red Sea from Thailand.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said that the ship was attacked by two missiles “resulting in a fire on board,” adding that the United States-led coalition forces in the region are responding to the incident, without giving any further details.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A report by the Associated Press citing ship-tracking data said that the Palau-flagged cargo ship was named ‘Islander’ and was headed to Egypt. It had also previously sent out messages saying “SYRIAN CREW ON BOARD” to potentially avoid being targeted by the Houthis, reported the AP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Air raid sirens were sounded early Thursday in the Israeli port city of Eilat followed by videos of what appeared to be a missile getting intercepted. The Israeli military later confirmed the reports and said that an incoming missile was intercepted by its Arrow missile defence system.</p>

<p>The system “successfully intercepted a launch which was identified in the area of the Red Sea and was en route to Israel,” said the Israeli military in a statement. It added, “The target did not cross into Israeli territory and did not pose a threat to civilians.”</p>
