Holland shooting: Possible terrorist motive in Utrecht, says police

A gunman opened fire at tram in Holland's busy Utrecht city during the day at 10:45am(local time).

The police quickly moved in sealed the area, describing it as a "possible terrorist motive".

Terror attacks in Europe

Reports said one person has been killed.

"Several shots were fired in a tram and several people were injured. Helicopters are at the scene and no arrests have been made," said police spokesman Joost Lanshage.

Utrecht police requested that members of the public avoid the roads around the area to allow emergency responders to have access to the injured. 

The air ambulance service said it had deployed three helicopters to the scene. 

Police said the shooter is still on the run.
