Three-time Olympic gold medalist and one of India's greatest sporting icons Balbir Singh Dosanjh passed away in Chandigarh after a prolonged illness.
Balbir senior as he was fondly known was part of the victorious Indian hockey team that won Olympic golds in 1948, 1952 and 1956.
Balbir senior scored 5 goals in the 1952 Olympic final against the Netherlands which remains a world record till date.
