US tells 35 countries: Pick us or China in the global AI race

The US-China AI rivalry has taken a sharper turn, with Washington preparing to tell 35 countries, including Japan, South Korea, and Australia, that they can't have it both ways. A draft State Department letter warns that joining China's new World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation would mean exclusion from the American-led Pax Silica coalition, which covers AI models, chips, and critical minerals.
