Questions are emerging over whether the United States could negotiate with Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, amid the ongoing war involving the U.S., Israel and Iran.
U.S. President Donald Trump has criticised Iran’s new leadership but signalled that talks with Tehran could still be possible under certain conditions.
Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen as Iran’s Supreme Leader after the assassination of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the conflict.
While Washington hints at potential dialogue, Iranian officials have also indicated reluctance toward negotiations, highlighting the deep tensions shaping the conflict and the uncertainty over whether diplomacy could resume.
