Fears of a cooking gas shortage are spreading across India as residents rush to stockpile LPG cylinders amid concerns of possible price hikes and supply disruptions. Long queues have been reported outside LPG distribution centers in several cities as households try to secure extra cylinders.
Authorities have moved quickly to stabilise supplies. The government has directed refineries to prioritise the production of household LPG cylinders to ensure an uninterrupted supply for domestic consumers.
