US Hits China Refinery: Iran Oil Crackdown Escalates
The United States has escalated its pressure campaign on Iran’s oil network by imposing sanctions on one of China’s largest independent refineries along with multiple shipping firms and vessels. The Treasury Department has targeted Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) Refinery Co., describing it as a major buyer of Iranian crude, alongside 19 vessels and 18 shipping-related entities linked to Iran’s “shadow fleet.” Officials say the move is aimed at tightening control over the entire supply chain—from transport routes to end buyers—cutting off revenue that sustains Tehran’s economy.
