The all-party meeting called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in Chennai on August 8 saw a major boycott, with 37 of the state’s 57 MPs staying away. The DMK, AIADMK, PMK, MNM and DMDK skipped the consultation, while around 20–21 MPs, mainly from Congress and smaller allies, attended.
