The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival has opened in South Korea, attracting visitors from around the world to its massive frozen river near the North Korean border. The winter festival features ice fishing, barehand fishing, sledging, ice soccer and curling across a 300,000 square metre ice field. Officials say the event has become one of Asia’s biggest winter attractions, drawing over a million visitors each year.
