Norway FM Espen Barth Eide speaks on Palestinian statehood
Norway, Ireland, and Spain have formally recognized the state of Palestine, joining over 140 of the 193 UN member countries. Norway’s Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, told our diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal, “It is the right thing to do at the right time.” Eide highlighted that India had recognized Palestine in the 1980s, a move Norway emulated last week. This recognition marks a significant diplomatic shift and reinforces Palestine's status on the international stage at the time when Israel Gaza situation continues to deteriorate.
