Iran protests: Trump threatens to send American troops, Iran warns 'don't cross red line’

Tensions between Washington and Tehran are rising sharply as protests spread across Iran over economic hardship and political frustration. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States is “locked and loaded” to respond if Iranian authorities kill peaceful protesters. Tehran has hit back, calling any U.S. interference a “red line” and warning it would destabilise the entire region.
At least six people have been reported killed as clashes erupted between protesters and security forces in multiple Iranian cities. The unrest comes as Iran’s economy reels under years of sanctions, soaring inflation and a collapsing currency. With threats exchanged and protests intensifying, fears are growing that domestic unrest in Iran could spiral into a wider regional crisis.
