New Delhi has formally summoned senior Iranian diplomats, including Deputy Chief of Mission Mohammad Javad Hosseini, following a lethal attack in the Strait of Hormuz. On July 14, 2026, two UAE-flagged oil tankers—the Mombasa and Al Bahiyah—were struck by Iranian cruise missiles while transiting the waterway’s southern shipping lane.
