A chilling case has shocked Germany — a 44-year-old palliative care nurse has been sentenced to life in prison for killing ten patients and attempting to kill 27 others to avoid night shift work.
According to prosecutors, he injected elderly and terminally ill patients with lethal doses of sedatives so he wouldn’t have to care for them through the night.
The court described his actions as showing “particular severity of guilt,” barring any early release.
