In a significant development, which is bound to have a massive impact on the global markets, credit rating agency fitch has downgraded the US government's credit rating. The agency has cited the country's finances and growing debt burden for the cut in the ratings. Fitch, one of the three agencies that rate the creditworthiness of a country, has downgraded the US' credit ratings from AAA to AA+.
