Factory output falls at fastest pace since May 2020 in January

Japan's January factory output fell at the fastest pace since May 2020. The reason: a downturn in automobile production added to the fall in output. Industrial output fell 7.5% in January from the previous month, slightly worse than the market forecast for a 7.3% drop. This is not good news for the Japanese economy, which slipped into recession late last year.
