Chile approves bill cutting work week to 40 hours from 45 hours

A bill to reduce the work week from 45 to 40 hours over five years was enacted by Chile's Congress on Tuesday. President of Chile Gabriel Boric praised the initiative as a "pro-family project that aims at the good living of all" and is anticipated to sign the bill into law. Employers would not be able to lower compensation as a result of the shift thanks to the new rule.
